Chapter 535: The "Nine Chapters" Project

Jasper Shaw nodded.

“That’s right. Although Project Jiuzhang was conducted in secret, the plan was still leaked a year and a half ago.”

“A lot of people were eyeing it at the time, so my grandfather had me safeguard the data. I never expected them to come after me directly.”

The only fortunate thing was that the data hadn’t been leaked as a result.

Chloe Sinclair lowered her gaze slightly, a hint of frustration in her eyes.

Having a voice on the world stage was more important than anything.

Chloe Sinclair nodded. “Don’t worry. Once the satellite network is complete, our research will speed up considerably.”

Once the satellites were launched and in orbit, the subsequent research would become much simpler.

It could then be extended to many other applications.

Chloe Sinclair also told Jasper Shaw about Wyatt Thorne and the mysterious “L”.

After she finished, Chloe Sinclair said, “The police might call you tomorrow to take your statement. I gave them your private number.”

Jasper Shaw wanted to say that they already had his private number, but since Chloe Sinclair was the one telling him, he simply nodded.

The next morning, Chloe Sinclair went to Joel Quincy’s research lab.

She had originally planned to go back to the old gentleman’s place in the suburbs today, but last night’s events had delayed her.

Since she couldn’t go back for the next few days, she figured she might as well come to her professor’s lab to help out.

Joel Quincy had only seen Chloe Sinclair once at the start of the semester and hadn’t seen her in a long time since.

“What made you think of visiting the lab today?”

Ever since the successful nuclear fusion research, Chloe Sinclair hadn’t been back to the lab much.

The moment she arrived, Joel Quincy beamed, the wrinkles around his eyes crinkling with his smile.

“I heard you developed a new drug this month and gave up on applying for the patent?”

Chloe Sinclair nodded. “Yes. I promised my second brother that for anything I develop, as long as I don’t lose money on it, I won’t apply for a patent.”

Joel Quincy sounded a bit helpless. “So what if you apply for a patent? It’s what you deserve.”

Even though the state was backing her, Chloe Sinclair had poured her heart and soul into this research.

Setting aside her previous research, just for this project alone—although Chloe Sinclair would earn one yuan per box, after deducting labor and team costs, who knew how much of her own money she had to put in upfront.

Joel Quincy had always felt that he could see the embodiment of selflessness in Chloe Sinclair.

Chloe Sinclair smiled and said, “I guess I’m here in this life to repay a debt. Benefiting the people is my way of fulfilling a vow and accumulating good karma.”

Joel Quincy didn’t know why Chloe Sinclair was so superstitious.

With that, Joel Quincy suddenly said, “It’s a good thing you came to the lab. Your senior is here today too. The two of you can help me mentor your juniors.”
