From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius

Chapter 544: Chloe Sinclair and Jasper Shaw Both Fell Silent

  • Next Chapter

Jasper Shaw was indeed very busy. After their first few meetings, Chloe Sinclair hardly saw him at all.

The conditions at the base were limited, but still within what Chloe Sinclair could tolerate.

After Second Brother Lowder arrived at the base, he went to work in a different department. Apart from professional coordination, Chloe Sinclair had almost no contact with him; even sharing a meal was a luxury.

The new, younger researcher, however, greatly impressed Chloe Sinclair. Samson Upton was truly a prodigy of his generation. Chloe felt he might be lacking in some life skills, but his research ability was every bit as good as hers, if not better.

Samson Upton’s abilities were outstanding. Working together at the base, he and Chloe Sinclair made several major discoveries, allowing Project Jiuzhang to advance rapidly. The pair managed to solve problems that had stumped the scientific community for years.

Chloe Sinclair held Samson Upton’s abilities in high regard, so whenever he needed to use the lab, she would approve his requests without hesitation.

Four months flew by, and Project Jiuzhang was on track to be completed several months ahead of schedule.

When everyone discovered the critical point matched their calculations, the entire base erupted in cheers.

Finding the critical point meant that Project Jiuzhang was entering its final phase.

As a result, Jasper Shaw and Chloe Sinclair finally had some free time.

For the past several months, they had been holed up in the lab almost every day and had also declined the services of the base’s housekeeping assistants. As a result, when they returned to their small room, they found it covered in dust.

Seeing this, Jasper Shaw quickly covered Chloe Sinclair’s nose and whispered, “You should go outside. I’ll take care of the cleaning.”

Jasper Shaw had been incredibly busy these past few months, juggling the oversight of his company with his own experiments. He now had a shadow of stubble on his chin, and deep, dark circles under his eyes.

Chloe Sinclair had intended to ask a housekeeping assistant to help clean up, but Jasper Shaw flatly refused.

The man was possessive; he didn’t want anyone else entering the room he had shared with her.

It didn’t matter that they had returned fewer than ten times and seen each other no more than three times over the last few months.

He could be stubborn like that, and Chloe Sinclair didn’t object.

Jasper Shaw brought a chair out of the room for her, his eyes tinged with apology.

“Chloe, it’s too dusty inside. I’m sorry, but could you wait out here for a minute? I’ll have the living room cleaned up right away.”

Before Chloe Sinclair could say a word, Jasper Shaw had already grabbed a mop, put on an apron, and started cleaning with earnest concentration.

Watching the man’s busy figure, the tension that Chloe Sinclair had been carrying for months finally began to ease.

COUGH! COUGH!

Suddenly, a series of coughs came from the room across the hallway.

It sounded familiar to Chloe Sinclair, who quickly got up from her chair.

The door to the room opposite was ajar, and with a gentle push, she could see inside.

When she stepped inside, Chloe Sinclair was stunned.

“Samson… what are you doing?”

A hint of hesitation colored her tone as she spoke.

The young man before her was diligently sweeping the floor with a broom, looking even more focused than Jasper Shaw across the hall.

In stark contrast, however, the young man’s room was an absolute disaster.

Hearing Chloe Sinclair’s voice, Jasper Shaw hurried out with his broom. When he saw the dust-filled state of the young man’s room, he fell silent.
