From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 543: New Fuel
Samson Upton had dark circles under his eyes, but his amber eyes sparkled as he looked at him.
“Chloe, this is the data I’ve compiled. Please take a look.”
Hearing this, Chloe Sinclair and Jasper Shaw exchanged a glance. In that brief moment, the look in Chloe Sinclair’s eyes changed.
“You’ve barely rested these past few days, all for this set of data?”
Samson Upton nodded. “Yes. My predecessor said this dataset has always been inaccurate; they’ve been wrestling with it for almost a year. When I arrived, I took one look at the data and noticed a number of issues. I ran some experiments on my own these past few days, and to my surprise, it worked.”
Chloe Sinclair looked at the young man before her and paused for a moment.
“Let me see.”
Jasper Shaw had only given it a casual glance, but he immediately noticed something unusual about Samson Upton’s data.
Chloe Sinclair handed the data sheet to him.
Samson Upton’s handwriting was incredibly neat and elegant, not at all what you’d expect from a young man.
Jasper Shaw scanned it quickly, inwardly stunned. “This direction is definitely correct. I’ll go have the team run the measurements a few more times. If the data for this critical point is accurate, our project will surely be completed ahead of schedule.”
When it came to work, Jasper Shaw was all business.
He exchanged a few words with Chloe Sinclair and then left the lab.
Chloe Sinclair glanced at Samson Upton, who looked like he was about to collapse, and said quickly, “I’ll call your personal aide. You need to go back and get some rest.”
Samson Upton had arrived a month or two before she did, so she had already heard that his health wasn’t very good.
Soon enough, the personal aide arrived to get him.
The aide was startled by Samson Upton’s condition and immediately called for the base’s on-call doctor.
After all, the base was filled with the nation’s brightest minds. The higher-ups wouldn’t dare let anything happen to these scientists, so the doctors and medical equipment provided were all top-of-the-line.
Most importantly, they were available 24/7.
After Samson Upton left, Chloe Sinclair began her own experiment.
Samson Upton’s measurements had given her a great deal of inspiration. Now, she wanted to test if a new energy source could be used for launching satellites.
Currently, the primary fuels used were combinations like liquid oxygen and alcohol, liquid oxygen and kerosene, liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen, or liquid oxygen and methane.
However, Chloe Sinclair suddenly felt she could find a better fuel to replace them.
Satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) are affected by the thin atmosphere, causing their orbits to gradually decay. Therefore, they need to carry their own fuel for orbital maintenance.
However, the amount of fuel a satellite needs to carry for launch is substantial.
Grython had previously experimented with the effects of various fuels in a 180-kilometer ultra-low LEO, finding that using electric propulsion for orbital operations was highly effective.
Unfortunately, Grython had not made this technology public.
Even in her previous life, Chloe Sinclair hadn’t researched it much.
‘But in this situation, perhaps it’s worth a try.’
Chloe Sinclair had Eight help her find numerous books on fuel-carrying capacity. After spending about three months reading in her “space,” she finally had a breakthrough.
Right away, Chloe Sinclair opened her computer and wrote down her initial hypothesis.
An hour later, just as Chloe Sinclair finished typing the last word, Jasper Shaw returned, buzzing with excitement.
He was holding Samson Upton’s data sheet, his expression thrilled. “There are no issues with this data sheet! I can have the Engineering Department start on this task.”
Jasper Shaw was normally just a researcher, but he was actually the person in charge of the entire base’s operations.
