From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 542: A Jealous Jasper Shaw is Brainless
Chloe Sinclair wanted to ignore the childish Jasper Shaw.
However, once she started the experiment, she did find herself growing more interested in Samson Upton.
Chloe Sinclair never considered herself a Genius.
Because she had the God of Study System and high-tech knowledge from the future at her disposal.
She would never deny that.
And yet, even with that advantage, she still had to spend most of her time understanding and experimenting with much of the advanced future knowledge.
Samson Upton, however, was different. His experiments seemed to come to him effortlessly.
He didn’t need to measure reagents or check the calibrations; he just casually poured the liquids.
Even though he had just started college, it was as if he’d performed these experiments thousands upon thousands of times.
Jasper Shaw watched from the sidelines, green with envy, as Chloe Sinclair and Samson Upton worked together. Every now and then, he would butt in.
Afterward, Chloe Sinclair said with exasperation, “Mr. Shaw, you’re so immature.”
Jasper Shaw said nothing.
Chloe Sinclair grew even more exasperated. “Samson Upton is extremely talented. I’ve learned a lot of techniques from him, which is why I’ve been paying him a bit more attention. Besides, he said he has a partner.”
“Really?” Jasper Shaw sounded skeptical.
‘He was almost thirty, and Chloe was still so young.’
‘They say every three years marks a generation gap…’
‘The gap between him and his girl was an uncrossable chasm!’
‘He’d even had Ian Winters set up thirty different online accounts for him just so he could go online every day and see what young people were into.’
‘But that couldn’t change the fact that Samson Upton was handsome, good-natured, and, most importantly, young.’
Chloe Sinclair had no idea that so much was already running through Jasper Shaw’s mind.
“Mr. Shaw, don’t worry. I’ll only ever love you.”
“Besides, he isn’t interested in me, so you can really stop worrying.”
The moment he heard that, Jasper Shaw’s tone changed. “You’re so wonderful. How dare that punk not be interested in you?”
Chloe Sinclair: “…”
‘There’s no getting through to a jealous man.’ Chloe Sinclair gave up trying to reason with Jasper Shaw.
“Alright, that’s enough. Don’t think I don’t know you’ve been secretly bothering him these past few days. Stop cornering him in the hallway. You’d better watch out, or his partner might find out and beat you up.”
‘Although Jasper Shaw was certainly skilled, Samson Upton’s partner was apparently no pushover.’
‘It was hard to say who would end up getting beaten.’
Chloe Sinclair simply had no faith in Jasper Shaw.
Jasper Shaw hadn’t expected Chloe Sinclair to know about him cornering Samson Upton in the hallway. He was suddenly too guilt-ridden to speak and quietly returned to his experiment.
Jasper Shaw didn’t conduct any sensational, headline-grabbing experiments for the research team, but Chloe Sinclair knew that he was the one who solved nearly all the critical problems at every stage.
Laboratory work was incredibly tedious, but for these scientists who loved immersing themselves in their experiments, it was their favorite way to spend time.
From the various labs, cries of surprise would occasionally ring out, or a moment of carelessness would be followed by the sound of an explosion.
Fortunately, no one was ever seriously hurt.
The higher-ups knew that most of these scientists were so engrossed in their work that they were clueless about practical matters, so each was assigned two assistants.
Samson Upton, however, was assigned four.
But when it came to Chloe Sinclair and Jasper Shaw, they flatly refused.
One day, Chloe Sinclair and Jasper Shaw arrived at Lab 001 in their lab coats, only to find the door already open.
The lab was deserted. Chloe Sinclair’s first thought was that they’d been robbed.
But she quickly dismissed the idea.
The two of them walked inside and saw Samson Upton sitting by the RT vortexer, calibrating its data.
The young man had dark circles under his eyes and his face was pale. It was obvious he hadn’t gone home to rest last night.
Chloe Sinclair frowned. “Samson Upton, didn’t I tell you to go home and get some proper rest?”
