Chapter 462: Chapter 234: 2 Beasts Clash, 1 Must Die

BANG! BANG! BANG! At the sound, several patrol members opened fire. Gunshots erupted, and while every bullet found its mark on the brown bear’s body, none hit a vital spot. This only served to enrage the beast.

"ROAR—" The brown bear rose to its feet, let out a great roar toward the hill where Su Chen and his group were, and prepared to charge.

Lying prone beside Su Chen, Xiao Chen already had his AK aimed at the brown bear. Seeing the beast roar, he twitched his right index finger. After a single BANG, a spray of blood erupted from the bear’s mouth. The creature’s roar was cut short, and it crashed heavily to the ground with a THUD.

"Holy shit! Brother Cheen, you scared the hell out of me!" Su Chen said, rubbing his ears with a hint of complaint in his voice.

Su Chen had been so focused on the brown bear that he hadn’t noticed Xiao Chen’s movements at all. With Xiao Chen lying right beside him, the sudden gunshot had made him jump, and his heart was still pounding.

Xiao Chen grinned. "How can you blame me? It’s not my fault your aim is terrible." He then jutted his chin toward the ravine. "Aren’t you going to go down and check on your two little White Tigers?"

He knew exactly what Su Chen was plotting. It was obvious he wanted to take the two cubs as pets. What Xiao Chen couldn’t figure out, however, was why Su Chen had insisted on keeping the mother White Tiger alive. Seeing her half-dead state, he wasn’t sure she would even make it through the day.

At the mention of the White Tiger cubs, Su Chen’s gaze immediately shot toward the ravine. The two cubs were huddled by the mother White Tiger’s side, whimpering.

"I’m going down to check!" Su Chen immediately stood up and headed down into the ravine. Xiao Chen saw this and quickly followed.

Their actions stunned Ivan, who was standing nearby. "Boss! Be careful!" he shouted, then signaled to the patrol members and ran after them into the ravine.

Su Chen and Xiao Chen first went to check on the brown bear. Its body was riddled with at least a dozen bullet holes, but the fatal wound was the single shot from Xiao Chen, which had entered through its mouth and exited through its skull.

"This bear didn’t look so big from a distance. Up close, I realize it must weigh at least eight or nine hundred pounds!" Su Chen remarked, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

Xiao Chen crouched down to examine the beast, picking up one of its massive paws. With a completely serious expression, he said, "This paw alone would take at least two meals to finish!"

Hearing this, Su Chen couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

As more people gathered in the ravine, the mother White Tiger, which had been lying motionless, suddenly found a burst of strength from somewhere. It staggered to its feet and fixed its wide, tiger eyes on Su Chen and the others.

"Careful!" Xiao Chen jumped to his feet, pulling Su Chen behind him. Ivan and the patrolmen also noticed the White Tiger’s movement and immediately closed in. But no one fired; they all remembered Su Chen’s specific order to keep the mother alive.

Su Chen smiled and patted Xiao Chen’s arm, signaling for him to relax, before turning his gaze back to the great White Tiger.

After a moment’s hesitation, Su Chen stepped out from the group and walked toward the mother White Tiger.

This move left everyone present completely stunned.

"Su Chen!"

"Boss!"

Xiao Chen and Ivan cried out. The mother White Tiger wasn’t dead yet; it surely had enough strength for one final pounce. They were just about to rush forward and pull Su Chen back, but the scene that unfolded next made their jaws drop.

The once-ferocious mother White Tiger had become remarkably docile. It even nudged Su Chen’s outstretched hand with its large, blood-stained head. Anyone who didn’t know better would have assumed it was his pet.

"This..." Xiao Chen was completely dumbfounded. ’Could it be?’ he thought. ’Is the White Tiger grateful to Su Chen because we killed the brown bear and saved her and her cubs?’

’But that doesn’t make sense,’ he continued to muse. ’I was the one who shot the bear. Why is the tiger showing its gratitude to Su Chen?’

Nearby, Ivan and the patrolmen stood with their mouths agape. A few couldn’t believe what they were seeing and even rubbed their eyes. A ferocious White Tiger becoming so gentle in their boss’s presence—it was a bewildering sight for anyone.

"Boss... is he a god who’s descended to earth?" Ivan muttered to himself, his gaze toward Su Chen filled with even deeper reverence.

At that moment, Su Chen had no idea what expressions the others were making behind him, but he could feel his own heart about to beat out of his chest.

He had confirmed his max-level Animal Affinity ability with the little lynx before, but this was a full-grown tiger. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t nervous. However, when he saw the great beast rub its head against his hand, the heart that was lodged in his throat finally settled back into place.

The White Tiger gave Su Chen a low chuff, then its body went limp and it collapsed. Su Chen’s expression tightened at the sight. ’I need this tiger alive! If it dies, won’t all this effort have been for nothing?’

"Brother Cheen! Ivan! Get over here, quick! Is the White Tiger dying?" Su Chen knew nothing about veterinary medicine, so he could only call for help.

At his words, the two men rushed over. Xiao Chen immediately began his examination. He didn’t know how to treat the animal, but he could at least tell if it was dead or alive.

"Not dead, but it’s close. If we can’t get it treated, this White Tiger probably won’t last the night." A look of pity flashed across Xiao Chen’s face. ’If this tiger could live,’ he thought, ’given how friendly it was, it would definitely make for an obedient pet. Imagine how impressive that would be, taking it out and about.’
