Chapter 466: Chapter 235: Let’s Just Call This a Welcoming Gift
Xiao Chen, who was observing from the side, also saw what Su Chen was up to. If Abdullah had come alone, Su Chen would have undoubtedly started naming an exorbitant price right away.
But no one had expected Abdullah to bring another member of the royal family, which meant they could no longer speak plainly about money.
At their level, "free" is the most expensive word. From their earlier conversation, Xiao Chen could tell that this Salman was very capable and could very well become the next crown prince of the Middle East royal family. If they built a good relationship now, the future benefits would be endless.
Su Chen had realized this as well, which was why he had immediately changed his attitude.
"Ah... this..." Salman hadn’t expected Su Chen to pull a move like this. For a moment, he didn’t know whether to accept or refuse.
His purpose for coming this time... was to forge connections. He hadn’t expected the pleasant surprise of meeting Xiao Chen. Although they had only chatted for about half an hour, he had already made a good guess about Xiao Chen’s identity. Naturally, he also understood that Su Chen’s background was just as he’d suspected... far from simple.
If he refused the gift, which Su Chen was offering in the name of friendship, he would be spurning the goodwill of both Su Chen and Xiao Chen. In that case, becoming friends would be impossible. Yet, if he accepted, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he would be in their debt.
The royal family had always abided by the principle that "if money can solve it, it’s not a problem, and if it can’t, just add more money!" But Su Chen was playing the friendship card, which left Salman at a loss and put him in an awkward position.
"Salman, what are you so worried about?" Abdullah said in a low voice. "This thing is worth, at most, tens of millions, maybe a hundred million. For you and Mr. Su, that’s a trivial sum—not even enough to buy a big toy, right?
If you feel awkward about it, you can just return the favor with a suitable gift for Mr. Su later on."
Hearing this, Salman had a sudden realization. ’Why am I getting so hung up on this?’
’Relationships are built on reciprocity. How can a friendship grow without any give and take?’
Having come to this realization, Salman laughed heartily and said, "Mr. Su, I’ll accept this gift!"
Hearing this, the corners of Su Chen’s lips curled into a slight smile. "Hahaha! Since we’re friends now, you should just call me Su Chen. ’Mr. Su’ sounds a bit too formal!"
Salman nodded in emphatic agreement. "Deal. Then you should call me Salman!"
After this little episode, the group’s rapport grew much closer. Even the conversation was no longer as formal as before, becoming much more open and unrestrained.
As the conversation turned to the gold nugget, Salman thought of the chests from before. He hesitated for a moment before asking, "Su Chen, did you discover a gold mine here?"
Su Chen had already anticipated this question. The appearance of those large gold nuggets would certainly lead people to think of a gold mine. He had no intention of hiding it; after all, the information would have to get out eventually. It’s not like he could mine the place in secret.
The truth will out, as they say. He had all the necessary mining licenses and permits, so he wasn’t worried about being unable to start operations.
"I’m not sure if it’s a gold mine yet. I’ve hired a professional mining team, and if there are no delays, they’ll arrive tomorrow. We’ll find out for sure then." To be honest, Su Chen was also filled with anticipation. Even though the report from the Mel brothers and the discovery of the gold nuggets pointed to a mine, he lacked definitive proof, which left him feeling a little on edge.
Salman nodded. This cleared up his earlier question as to why Su Chen and his group had come all the way out here to "have fun." He figured it had to be about the gold mine.
With the White Tiger in mind, Salman wondered if he might go searching in the mountains himself. ’What if I found one?’ He then asked tentatively, "I wonder, when you do the survey, could we tag along to have a look? We could do a bit of hunting while we’re at it!"
"Of course, no problem," Su Chen agreed without a second thought. A flicker of amusement glinted in his eyes as he wondered if the two royals would make fools of themselves tomorrow.
Just then, Chen Fei walked to the door, knocked twice, and announced respectfully, "Sir, dinner is ready."
"Have them start serving," Su Chen said. Then he gestured for Xiao Chen, Salman, and his brother to head toward the dining room.
In no time, the dining table was laden with a feast. The most eye-catching dishes, of course, were the two bear paws in the center of the table.
The ranch’s chef was an expert at preparing all kinds of wild game, so handling the bear paws and meat was second nature to him. Combined with his masterful culinary skills, the alluring aroma had everyone barely restraining the urge to dig in—even the brothers Salman and Abdullah, who were accustomed to every kind of delicacy imaginable, were no exception.
As the host, Su Chen gave a grand wave of his hand, signaling the start of the meal. Everyone grabbed their chopsticks, knives, and forks and began to eat with gusto.
