Chapter 184: Chapter 108: An Extraordinary Harvest, Ending the Assessment with a Grand Performance
Mo Ning sat quietly to the side, his gaze fixed on the churning sea of fog outside the Sanctuary’s window, unmoving for a long time.
His focused profile was bathed in a faint glow from the warm light of the Magic Energy Lamp.
Anya stole a few glances, and a line from a certain wizard romance novel flashed through her mind:
"She watched the wizard, lost in thought, and found him utterly captivating. It was as if his wisdom endowed him with an extraordinary charm."
In the noble circles of the various Kingdoms, particularly among women, romance novels detailing the adventures of wizards were a popular way for noble ladies to pass their free time.
To please their readers, these novels were never short on romantic elements.
The most common trope was that of a Noble Lady falling in love with a smart and handsome Wizard. The two would experience all sorts of incredible and exceptionally romantic adventures together, ultimately becoming deeply devoted lovers.
When Anya first read that line, she had thought it was just the silly words of a lovesick protagonist. Fortunately, the book was interesting enough that she had patiently read on.
Now, as the line inexplicably drifted through her mind, she suddenly felt it truly spoke to her heart.
SIZZLE— SIZZLE—
The sound of meat sizzling in the pan pulled her drifting thoughts back to reality.
She quickly shifted her gaze back to the frying pan, but a faint blush quietly crept up her ears.
The heat source for the pan was a Low Level Magic Stone, which emitted a steady and gentle heat. Droplets of oil danced lightly at the bottom of the pan, and the edges of the plum blossom pork began to curl, oozing golden beads of fat.
Anya watched the piece of meat gradually change color and smelled the increasingly rich, meaty aroma, her mood inexplicably brightening.
’Auntie Nasha told me several times that during the wilderness survival assessment, I had to be prepared for hardship and hunger. It wouldn’t be strange to go hungry for a whole day.’
’But with Mo Ning here,’ she thought, ’how could I possibly go hungry, no matter how harsh the conditions are? I feel like I’m eating so much better than in the newcomer’s cafeteria.’
She couldn’t help but steal another glance at Mo Ning’s figure from the corner of her eye, silently adding, ’Thank you, Mr. Mo Ning, for your astonishing wisdom and extraordinary charm.’
Compared to Anya, Reina seemed more focused.
The Dazed Girl’s eyes were glued to the white fish meat bobbing up and down in the metal container, her signature cowlick trembling slightly in the steam.
’Miss Anya is always stealing glances at Mr. Mo Ning,’ she thought. ’It seems she really likes him.’
For some reason, this conclusion made her chest tighten with a hint of bitterness.
About ten seconds later, the mysterious whispers from the endless ocean of knowledge gradually came to an end.
The layered, tide-like voices diminished significantly, and the information being poured into Mo Ning’s mind was reduced by more than ninety percent.
A lot of the key knowledge felt familiar to him.
He understood that it originated from the book he had borrowed from the Mirror Library: *Wandering in the Sky’s Gale - Research on the Original Soul Seal of Phantom Carvings*.
At the time, he had hastily flipped through the book and found many parts obscure and difficult to understand, requiring more time for slow study.
The [Light of Truth], however, had broken down this knowledge with perfect clarity, then performed even deeper deductions, reaching a depth the book’s author, a Second Level Wizard, had never attained.
The Spiritual Light then used this knowledge as a foundation and Secret Divination and Divination as bricks and mortar to begin constructing an exquisite building.
Another three seconds passed.
The whispers receded like the tide.
Mo Ning maintained his posture of staring out the window, his face a mask of calm, but inside, a monstrous wave was surging through his heart.
Given that the two girls were right beside him, and that the academy had certainly arranged for surveillance, he had to try his best to restrain himself and not reveal any undue surprise.
This time, by activating the [Light of Truth], he had acquired a massive amount of knowledge and completely understood all of it.
The Mysteries of the soul, Divination, and the workings of energy had been chiseled, stroke by stroke, into the depths of his consciousness by an invisible carving knife, causing his understanding of Low-Ring Divination to undergo a qualitative leap.
More importantly, the [Light of Truth] had not only converted the Original Soul Seal into a Soul Model, but had also optimized it to an astonishing degree.
Mo Ning "stared" at the model’s structure suspended in the depths of his consciousness, his heartbeat uncontrollably quickening a little.
’By the Mysteries!’
’This Soul Model actually has an Affiliated Magic Pool!’
Everyone in the Wizard World knew that only by condensing the first Spirit Ring could a Magic Pool form within the body.
A Spirit Ring equals a Magic Pool; this could almost be considered an immutable, ancient equation.
As for the "Affiliated Magic Pool," according to the information he had gathered from books, it was only used when casting certain extremely powerful Witchcraft.
These Spells consumed a terrifying amount of Magic Power instantaneously, so much that even the Main Magic Pool struggled to supply it in time.
To solve this problem, Divination Wizards had pioneered the concept of the "Affiliated Magic Pool."
That is—to build an additional, miniature Magic Pool within the Witchcraft Model to hold a small amount of Magic Power.
On one hand, with two Magic Pools supplying Magic Power simultaneously, the instantaneous consumption gap could be met.
On the other hand, since the Affiliated Magic Pool was directly embedded in the Witchcraft Model, it also significantly reduced the loss of Magic Power during transmission.
In short, it was an idea of pure genius.
When Mo Ning had first read about this, he had been full of admiration.
However, this design also had a drawback—after Casting was complete, the Affiliated Magic Pool would be completely drained and would need to be replenished by drawing Magic Power from the Main Magic Pool, thus making continuous Casting impossible.
