Chapter 205: Chapter 4: An Unbridled Display of Talent

"Go get a drink!"

Mo Ning expertly finished massaging War Rhino Barce. He gave the big fella a pat and offered his usual reminder.

Barce, who had been in a blissful state of transcendence, was instantly pulled back to reality by the words.

It turned its head and its massive mouth opened a crack, clearly intending to express its gratitude in some way.

Mo Ning quickly took a step back and issued a stern warning. "Buddy, I can’t handle that kind of affection. If you insist, you can forget about me ever scrubbing you down again."

He had no desire to be licked by that stinky tongue, even though the big fella meant no harm.

War Rhino Barce had no choice but to clamp his mouth shut. He mimicked his companions by nuzzling against Mo Ning, then trotted off toward the fountain.

The War Rhinoceros found it quite surprising to feel thirsty after a massage, but it didn’t know how to express this.

Mo Ning knew the reason perfectly well—the War Rhinoceros’s muscle metabolism had sped up, accelerating its water cycle and thus making the big fella thirsty.

He hadn’t predicted this when he constructed the muscle vibration model; he only discovered this fact after putting it into practice.

Watching Barce gulp down water, Mo Ning thought to himself, ’Perhaps I can research this further to make my paper more complete.’

Meanwhile, that unlucky kid Andy was long gone.

Mo Ning didn’t need to look for him to know the guy was surely hiding in some empty room, licking his wounded pride alone.

The Taming Room was so vast, and with no shortage of empty rooms, it was easy to find one.

He returned to the tool room, sat down at a wooden table, spread out a sheet of scale pattern paper, and began to write a report.

All internal affairs at the academy followed a strict set of procedures—to put it bluntly, it was all about writing reports.

Whether offering opinions or reporting issues, everything had to be put in writing.

As the tip of the pen flew across the paper, a title materialized: "A Suggestion for Correcting the Sleeping Posture of Iron-Horned Rhino Kent (Creature ID 3-0350012)."

「A quarter of an hour later.」

He put down the Ink Tube Pen, gave it a quick check, and confirmed nothing was missing.

Then, he activated his Guiding Ring with his Spiritual Power and called out, "Witch Spirit, I want to submit a Suggestion Letter regarding the No. 35 Taming Center."

The Witch Spirit’s mechanical voice immediately responded:

[Please confirm the Suggestion Letter to be submitted.]

Mo Ning gestured toward the desktop. "This is it."

The mechanical voice spoke again:

[Suggestion Letter confirmed. All helpful suggestions ensure the academy stays on the right path. Thank you for your proposed improvement!]

As soon as the voice faded, the Suggestion Letter blurred and vanished in the span of a breath.

According to the academy’s rules, this Suggestion Letter could not be handed to Mo Ning’s nominal supervisor—Second Level Apprentice Vincent. It had to be submitted to the Witch Spirit.

The Witch Spirit would then forward the report to Vincent. Vincent was required to write his opinion within a specified time, which the Witch Spirit would then forward to the final reviewer—a Senior Deacon at the Taming Center, who was also a Third Level Apprentice.

Because of the Witch Spirit’s total involvement, Vincent wouldn’t dare to reject the Suggestion Letter without good reason. Otherwise, the Witch Spirit might challenge him on the spot.

If that happened, Vincent would be in huge trouble. The minimum penalty would be the immediate stripping of all his duties, plus a fine so large it would make him wish he were dead.

For this very reason, the Witch Spirit’s existence greatly improved the academy’s operational efficiency, preventing the convoluted procedures from breeding inefficient bureaucracy.

Mo Ning picked up the first volume of "Divination Power Analysis and Calculation," turned to the bookmarked page, and soon lost himself in the sea of Divination.

In just three short months, he had already finished the first volume of "Low-Cycle Divination Introduction."

This wasn’t a quick skim, but a deep, thorough reading where he studied every single word and every single formula until he understood them completely.

This was an astonishing pace.

The Artificial Soul Flower in the Cabin in the Woods had given him a statistic:

"Mr. Mo Ning, the Treasure you’ve unearthed from the first volume of the ’Introduction’ in the past three months is equivalent to what an ordinary Apprentice would achieve in seven or eight years."

At the time, Mo Ning had simply blinked and said nothing.

On the recommendation of the Artificial Soul Flower in the Cabin in the Woods, he didn’t continue with the second volume of the "Introduction." Instead, he began reading the first volume of "Magic Analysis."

Although the Flower didn’t explain why, Mo Ning suspected it was very likely based on the experience of the former Dean. He decisively followed the advice.

*****

Barely a minute later, the two Second Level Apprentices’ idle chat was interrupted.

The Witch Spirit delivered the Suggestion Letter:

[Suggestion Letter, "A Suggestion for Correcting the Sleeping Posture of Iron-Horned Rhino Kent," authored by Mo Ning, has been delivered. Please conduct a preliminary review of this suggestion. You must complete the review and state your opinion within twelve hours.]

Funnily enough, the submitter and the reviewer were in the same place, less than fifty meters apart—an arrangement that was somewhat comical.

When Vincent heard the name "Mo Ning," he froze.

In all his years at the Taming Center, this was the first time he’d ever seen a newcomer who had been there for only a month formally submit a Suggestion Letter.

Two thin sheets of scale pattern paper materialized in mid-air and floated down slowly.

Vincent instinctively reached out and caught them.

Rock, who was standing nearby, witnessed the whole peculiar affair and couldn’t help but laugh. "This kid’s really something else!"

Vincent didn’t reply and began to focus on reading the Suggestion Letter.

Rock leaned in to look as well, but he didn’t read it carefully, just gave it a quick scan.

After just a few glances, he let out a surprised "Huh?" "He actually wrote this many Divination Formulas!"
