The moment Kiara entered the gym, Faye immediately informed her about Silviana’s plans. She expected that crazy girl to react, perhaps show some concern or at least ask a few questions, but Kiara barely acknowledged what she had just heard.

"Okay..." she replied flatly, dropping her bag on the counter before reaching inside and pulling out an ancient book.

Faye stared at her in disbelief. Was that all she had to say?

"Okay? Is that all you have to say? Those two could harm Perico, and if anything happens to him, I might have to wait God knows how long before he gets another host!" Faye complained, her frustration evident in her voice.

Kiara continued examining the book as though Faye hadn’t just raised a serious concern.

"Hellbound Soul," she said.

"What the?" Faye muttered, looking at her in confusion.

"The host is called a Hellbound Soul. It’s a prison for Perico, the demon you met two days ago inside me."

"Oh, so that’s what you call it, you are a hellbound soul.." Faye replied, finally understanding what Kiara meant.

Malo, who had been listening to their conversation, decided to join in.

"So, this guy Perico, what’s he like? Is he evil, or is he just evil like Kiara?"

Kiara slowly raised her head and gave him a look that could have silenced a less foolish person. Malo, however, didn’t seem particularly concerned about earning her displeasure.

"He’s not evil, evil, Malo. He’s just a kid who was deceived by heartless, selfish people," Faye explained.

Before Malo could ask anything else, Kiara approached Faye and dropped the ancient book in front of her.

Faye, who was sitting on the gym mat, glanced down at the thick book before looking up at her friend.

"What am I staring at?"

"Our ticket to destroying the Council or should I say the Deason family."

That caught Faye’s attention.

Kiara crouched in front of her and opened the book, carefully turning its old pages. They were filled with historical records, and their worn appearance suggested that the book had been around for a very long time.

As Kiara searched for the section she wanted, she noticed Malo leaning over her shoulder, trying to get a better look at the contents.

"Are you spying for Princess again?" she asked without turning around.

"For the seventeenth time, I am not working for Princess. I am my own boss, you are in my gym. I’m just curious about whatever you two are cooking up," Malo replied, straightening slightly.

"Then sit properly and stop acting like some spy freek agent," Faye told him.

Malo obediently returned to his place on the mat, wearing a smile that made it difficult to tell whether he had actually listened or was simply enjoying himself.

"I bet you, Faye, he still sells information to Princess," Kiara remarked.

Faye barely reacted to the accusation. She wasn’t particularly bothered by the possibility of Malo sharing information with Princess, especially since she had no intention of hiding her plans from her girlfriend in the first place.

Sasha joined them on the mat, although her attention remained on her phone. She was busy chatting with her long-distance girlfriend and seemed content to let the others handle the discussion.

With everyone settled, Kiara finally began explaining what she had discovered about the Deanson family.

Among all the families in Oakland, the Deansons were known for keeping to themselves. They rarely drew attention, and most people knew very little about what happened behind their closed doors. However, their quiet nature had allowed them to accumulate power without attracting unnecessary suspicion.

According to Kiara, the Deansons were far more influential than most people realised.

"The Alpha might be the leader of Oakland, but the Deansons are the ones who actually hold the place together. They’re the pillars of this town, the family that was here from the very beginning. They’re the ones who came up with the idea of betraying and killing the Night Walkers because they didn’t want to share the land with anyone else."

Faye’s expression gradually changed as she listened.

Everything was beginning to make sense..She had wondered why the Alpha King seemed so unconcerned about the possibility of the Council being destroyed. Now, she was beginning to understand that his indifference might have nothing to do with a lack of concern. If the people responsible for the Council’s existence were eliminated, he could gain greater control over Oakland without having to share his authority with them.

Perhaps the Alpha King didn’t mind their plans because their success would benefit him.

The realisation left Faye with an unpleasant feeling. They might be dealing with a much bigger arrangement than she had initially imagined.

"Why can’t you just burn them all? We gather them in one place, and whoosh!" Faye suggested, making a quick gesture with her hand as though she could wipe out the entire family in a single attack.

Kiara gave her an unimpressed look.

"If it were that easy, I would have done it already instead of asking for your help and fully bonding with Perico."

She turned another page, her expression growing more serious as she continued.

"They practise witchcraft, and not just any kind of witchcraft. It’s dark magic. They’re the only witches allowed to reside here in Oakland. If another witch comes into town and isn’t a Deanson, they warn them to leave. If the witch refuses, they kill them in the most inhumane way possible."

Faye and Malo exchanged horrified looks.

The revelation was disturbing enough, but the thought of an entire family using dark magic to control who was allowed to live in Oakland made the situation even worse. The Deansons weren’t simply another powerful family. They had established their own rules and enforced them through fear.

Malo frowned, struggling to understand how Kiara had uncovered so much information about a family that seemed determined to remain hidden.

"How do you know all this?"

"Our family aren’t just library keepers. We’re historians. We write history, and I’ve been researching the Deanson family for a while now. The Petrova family holds a very important position in Oakland. We know about the good and evil deeds that happen here, and we record them like entries in a ledger. This is one of those records."

Kiara tapped the ancient book resting between them.

Faye looked down at its pages, wondering how much information the Petrova family had collected over the years. If the book contained records of the Deansons’ activities, it could prove useful in their plans against the Council.

"So, are you planning to use the book to blackmail them?" she asked.

"No. Will you let me finish?"

Faye closed her mouth, allowing Kiara to continue.

"I’m trying to find their weakness. I read somewhere in these records that the Deanson family operates like a coven of witches, with a leader at the centre of everything. They share a single life force, which is magically connected to their leader"

Malo’s expression turned serious as he considered what that meant..Faye, however, was already putting the pieces together.

"So, you’re saying we need to find their leader and kill them all?"

"Yes, killing one won’t kill that one, but there’s one problem. Nobody knows who the leader is. Not even the members of the coven know their identity."

For a moment, Faye stared at Kiara, waiting for her to continue. When it became clear that her friend had nothing else to add, she slowly leaned back, a smile appearing on her face.

"Okay, since you’re so good at researching, why don’t you do that, hmm?"

Her smile looked pleasant enough, but there was little warmth behind it. Kiara had been explaining the situation for several minutes without giving her the information she had been patiently waiting for.

Kiara noticed her expression and sighed.

"I cannot be the only one doing this. We need to work together, figure out who the leader is, and kill them. Once the Deansons are gone, the Council will be weakened, and nobody will have to worry about me being killed."

Faye waved a hand dismissively.

"Okay, okay. We’ll discuss that later. But how are you going to handle your bitch of a sister? She can’t just fucking ruin everything."

"I’ll talk to her and tell her to stay out of my business," Kiara replied.

Malo let out a quiet scoff.

"Are you sure she’s going to stay out of your business? She’s your sister. You’re already her business."

Kiara shot him an irritated look, clearly unimpressed by his observation.

Before she could respond, the gym doors opened, and Beam and Bambi walked inside.

Faye noticed them immediately, and a mischievous smile spread across her face. Turning towards Kiara, she deliberately adopted a sly tone.

"Kiki, look. Your ex just walked in with your other ex."

Kiara slowly turned her head towards Faye, glaring at her with enough irritation to make it clear that she regretted ever telling her anything about her past relationships.

"Leave me alone, bitch!"

Faye burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying herself as Kiara continued glaring at her.
