Faye had been through so many emotions that day, more than she could possibly count. Between the fear, anger, confusion, and everything else that had happened, she was exhausted, and all she wanted now was to see her pups.

When they finally arrived at the cottage, however, the sight that greeted them was nothing like what Faye had expected.

Everyone was outside, enjoying a small barbecue party in the yard. Erico and Paye were busy preparing the meat over the barbecue stand, while Malo had taken charge of the refreshments. A large mat had been spread across the grass, where Kaye and Dina were playing with the pups, seemingly having the time of their lives.

Faye stared at the gathering for a moment before walking straight towards the barbecue stand. The moment she reached her brother, she pulled Paye into a hug.

"So I was busy fighting for my dear life, and you guys are busy throwing a party..." she complained, hugging him tightly.

"It just came to us, and the kids are back. This calls for a celebration..." Erico explained.

"W-what do you mean, fighting for your life...?" Paye asked, pulling back slightly to study his sister’s face. Her words had caught him off guard, and he looked genuinely concerned about what she might have gone through.

"I don’t know what you are talking about..." Faye replied quickly before escaping towards her children.

She was not about to start explaining everything that had happened, especially when her brother looked ready to worry himself sick over her. She had already dealt with enough for one day, and the last thing she wanted was to make Paye start crying.

Princess watched her girlfriend leave before turning towards the two men at the barbecue stand.

"Do you want any assistance?" she asked.

"No, but since you want to help, you can help me with the flipping of the meat..." Erico replied.

"Good, but you are holding the tongs, so I don’t think you need my help..."

Princess tapped Erico on the shoulder as she passed, leaving the man to continue his work. Teasing her ex-brother-in-law was simply too tempting to resist.

Meanwhile, Faye was only a few steps away from reaching the mat when she noticed Leonny getting to his feet. The moment the little boy spotted his Omega mother, he began walking towards her.

Faye stopped immediately, her entire attention fixed on her first son. She crouched down and waited patiently, opening her arms as the little boy made his way towards her.

"My little puppy, I have missed you and your siblings so much..." she whispered, pulling him into a tight embrace the moment he reached her.

She showered his face with kisses, holding him close as though she could make up for all the time they had spent apart simply by refusing to let him go.

"Mommy, Mommy..." Leonny called excitedly.

"Aww..."

Faye closed her eyes, savouring the moment with her little boy. She had missed him terribly, and having him in her arms again felt wonderful. She was just about to lift him and carry him towards the other children when something caught her attention.

Ronny was crawling towards her.

At first, Faye barely thought anything of it. However, halfway across the mat, the little boy suddenly pushed himself upright and began walking towards her.

"Mommy..."

Faye froze.

"He is walking..." she murmured, staring at him in confusion.

Before she could even process what she had witnessed, Minny followed his brother’s example. The little boy stood up and started walking too, moving with surprising determination as though he had entered a race against Ronny.

Unfortunately for Minny, his brother was faster. Ronny reached Faye first and threw himself into her arms.

"Mommy!"

Faye stared at him, completely flabbergasted. What on earth had she just witnessed?

Leonny walking was hardly a surprise because she had seen the little boy wandering around the house on his own several times. But Ronny and Minny? This was the first time she had seen either of them take their first steps.

And now both boys were walking towards her as though they had been doing it for ages.

Princess crouched beside them, smiling as she watched her girlfriend struggle to process the unexpected discovery.

"Surprise... they started walking two days ago, and it was thanks to their uncles..."

Faye slowly turned towards her.

"I missed my first son’s first steps, and now my two other sons... This is amazing, they are walking, but seriously..."

Her voice trailed off as she glared at her girlfriend, who was clearly trying not to laugh at her expression.

"I have no idea. I just woke up and boom, saw the whole team outside the house, playing with their uncles, and Dina was like, ’Aunty Princess, look, Minny is walking...’" Princess explained in her defence.

Faye’s eyes narrowed.

"So it’s Adam and Leo’s fault. I am going to teach them a lesson..."

Princess chuckled at the determination in her girlfriend’s voice. Even after everything she had been through, Faye could still find the energy to threaten people over missing her children’s milestones. She was adorable, and Princess had absolutely no intention of telling her that while she was still glaring at everyone.

Faye took a deep breath before looking towards the mat again.

"Well, I still have my daughter. I will wait for her to walk..."

Her attention settled on Donny, who was sitting nearby, completely absorbed in Charlie’s ear. The little girl seemed entirely unaware that her mother had returned, as though Charlie was the only important person in the world at that moment.

Faye watched her for a few seconds, already looking forward to seeing her daughter take her first steps.

"About that..." Princess muttered.

Faye slowly turned her head.

"She is walking too."

Princess paused briefly before adding, "She happens to be the first one to walk. With the way she was walking, I am actually thinking she might have started walking before Leonny..."

That was the final blow.

Faye’s face crumpled, and tears immediately filled her eyes before spilling down her cheeks. Of course she was happy. Who wouldn’t be amazed to discover that all four of their babies were already walking before they had even turned a year old?

But beneath that happiness was a sadness she could not push away.

She had missed their first steps.

Not just one child’s, but all of them.

While she had been away, her babies had been growing, learning new things, and reaching milestones she had wanted to witness with her own eyes. Now they were walking towards her, calling her Mommy, and she could only imagine what it would have felt like to be there when they first managed to stand on their own.

Princess immediately pulled her into an embrace, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend as they sat together on the ground with their boys. She held Faye close, allowing her to cry while the little boys continued hugging their mothers, seemingly unaware of the reason behind the tears.

Then Donny finally abandoned Charlie’s ear and crawled towards Faye.

The little girl moved faster on her hands and knees than her brothers had managed on their feet, eager to reach her mother at last.

Faye opened her arms to welcome her, drawing her daughter into the embrace as Princess held them both.

And just like that, with all four pups gathered around their parents, the Grand-Kings family was finally back together.
