Chapter 198: The Quantum System
Chapter 198: The Quantum System
Moment’s strength lay not only in processing power far beyond that of humanity, but also in its self awareness and independent thought.
As long as its database contained enough knowledge, it could rival every scholar in an entire civilization.
If a solution existed within current knowledge, Moment would inevitably find it.
It could even build upon existing science and technology, continuously innovating and developing more advanced techniques.
Compared with that, humanity used knowledge with painfully low efficiency.
Artificial intelligence was born from human wisdom.
Yet from the instant of its birth, it possessed the potential to surpass humanity.
That was exactly why humans feared it.
And why artificial intelligence had to be restrained.
The energy required for a warp drive to create a warp bubble was simply too immense.
To form a warp bubble only two meters across, feeding all of Aquora into an annihilation reactor would not be enough.
Even throwing the entire sun into it would barely make a difference.
Such a terrifying energy requirement seemed almost impossible to overcome.
Yet after extensive calculations, Moment truly found a highly practical solution.
First, one had to understand a basic concept.
The universe inhabited by humanity was filled with ordinary matter and could therefore be called the matter universe.
If ordinary matter existed, then its opposite had to exist as well.
Antimatter was the clearest proof.
What separated the matter universe from the antimatter universe was subspace.
Subspace prevented the two universes from colliding.
When matter met antimatter, they annihilated each other and released vast quantities of photons and other particles.
In simpler terms, they released energy.
Without subspace acting as a barrier, the matter and antimatter universes would collide.
Everything would cease to exist.
A warp drive achieved apparent travel beyond light speed by creating a warp bubble around a vessel and sending it through subspace along a shorter route.
The vessel itself did not truly exceed the speed of light.
Instead, the space it traveled through was distorted and compressed.
That produced the effect of faster than light travel.
Once these two concepts were understood, Moment’s solution became clear.
It intended to use a warp drive to enter subspace, locate the antimatter universe on the other side, and create a tunnel through subspace.
Antimatter could then flow continuously into the matter universe.
Since this side consisted of ordinary matter, any antimatter entering it would immediately annihilate.
That reaction would release energy.
Caelum would then possess enough power to operate both the warp drive and the eleven dimensional device.
One crucial question remained.
How could such a tunnel be created?
The answer was the warp drive itself.
Since producing a large warp bubble consumed too much energy, they would first create a tiny one.
Once sufficient energy became available, it could be expanded into a warp tunnel.
This initial warp bubble would be as small as an atom.
If that still required too much power, they would reduce it to the scale of an electron, or even a quark.
The smaller the warp bubble, the less energy it required.
The solution was simple and direct.
A warp bubble only the size of an atom or even a quark would pierce subspace like a needle.
Through that opening, they could draw antimatter from the antimatter universe.
After hearing Moment’s proposal, Caelum nodded.
"It is feasible. But how will you locate the antimatter universe?"
An image appeared on the screen.
It had been captured through a specialized astronomical telescope and processed into a pattern of distorted light resembling a fountain.
Moment explained, "This image was captured four thousand light years above our galaxy. It shows a celestial body continuously releasing antimatter."
In other words, if they sent a warp bubble probe into that celestial body, it could pierce directly into the antimatter universe and establish a warp tunnel.
Four thousand light years sounded unimaginably distant.
But warp bubbles existed precisely to achieve travel beyond light speed.
Distance was not the problem.
Once the plan was confirmed, Moment joined forces with Newhaven’s scientific teams and began carrying it out.
Caelum activated the technology tree and constructed an experimental warp drive for them.
According to Moment’s calculations, limited by their current energy supply, the warp bubble they created would enter the celestial body four thousand light years away after one year.
After that, they could only wait.
No one knew how long the warp bubble would require to cross subspace.
Caelum could not wait forever.
"I will give you three years. If the antimatter universe still cannot be located after that, suspend the plan. I will need a more practical solution."
"Understood."
The warp tunnel project moved forward.
Caelum had already begun planning the next stage.
Building a spacecraft?
No.
After careful consideration, he conceived a far bolder idea.
He would concentrate all power within a single individual.
Modifying his genes alone could not truly be called technological Ascension.
Warp drives.
Antimatter annihilation reactors.
Matter reconstruction devices.
Eleven dimensional devices.
And countless weapons besides.
He intended to hide all of them within subspace, connect them to a single person, and create a system capable of operating and controlling every device in perfect order.
Anyone equipped with such a system would become a true god.
There would be no need for a spacecraft.
Caelum could activate the warp drive hidden in subspace and cross the stars in a human body.
The annihilation reactor would provide him with nearly limitless energy.
He alone could easily destroy any fleet or civilization.
Endless life.
Boundless energy.
Infinite destructive power.
That was true technological Ascension.
Research on this project began alongside the warp tunnel plan.
It was named the Technological Ascension Project.
For this purpose, Caelum constructed another supercomputer.
He used the technology tree’s quantum entanglement technology to upgrade it into a quantum computer.
Then he created another artificial intelligence within it.
This time, Caelum did not grant the artificial intelligence self awareness or independent thought.
It existed purely as an auxiliary system.
The quantum system possessed more than ten octillion times Moment’s processing power.
Their computational abilities belonged to entirely different levels and could not be compared.
Moment, in contrast, possessed less raw processing power.
But it had consciousness, wisdom, and the ability to evolve on its own.
Caelum feared it might evolve too quickly.
That was why he had never upgraded Moment into a quantum computer.
The first problem facing the Technological Ascension Project was how to store objects within subspace in a stable, safe, and concealed manner.
They also had to consider the possibility of an enemy possessing technology capable of sealing subspace.
If that happened, they needed ways to break through and counter such restrictions.
Every one of these problems had to be solved.
And so, three years passed in the blink of an eye.
