Chapter 202: You dare offend a god? You deserve death!
"..."
The livestream fell completely silent.
This was absurd.
Utterly absurd.
The viewers had already thought it outrageous that the Steel Federation had advanced so far beyond the western continent.
They never imagined something even more extreme was waiting.
The viewer who had previously claimed Newhaven’s technology was nothing special hastily revised his statement.
"I admit I was a little naive earlier, but can someone please explain what is happening? What is that spaceship doing there?"
"Are they actually heading into space?"
"I am starting to get excited."
A translucent screen appeared before Ivy.
"Welcome to Newhaven Base One. I am the artificial intelligence system responsible for this facility. You may call me Moment."
Ivy’s eyes widened.
"Artificial intelligence?"
The situation was growing more outrageous by the second.
The revelations came so quickly that she could barely process them.
Only one thing was clear to both Ivy and everyone watching her livestream.
Newhaven’s technological level was beyond imagination.
"Good heavens..."
"The federation is really going into space."
"All I want to know now is who the Leader actually is. Is this guy not a little too powerful? Can a player really reach this level?"
"I am starting to suspect he is not a player at all."
Advancing the technology tree from the age of cold weapons to the interstellar age in less than twenty years was simply unfair.
How were the other players supposed to compete?
Ivy’s livestream erupted.
"I have a bold theory. The victory condition in War and Conquest is not conquering one planet, but conquering every civilization in the universe."
"People proposed that theory a long time ago. Maybe the players are not in separate worlds at all. They only started on different planets within the same universe."
"An interstellar war? I like it."
"I am going to check the stream next door. That player still seems to be fighting regional lords. It would be hilarious if Aquora’s civilization eventually invaded his planet."
"Now that you mention it, that might actually happen."
Elsewhere, after arranging every plan, Caelum finally freed himself from his endless responsibilities.
He rolled his neck, stretched his body, and walked outside.
"I am going to Farstar. I will leave the Hyperdimensional Corps in your hands."
"Understood."
Edrick stood straight and saluted.
The moment Caelum finished speaking, his body flickered and vanished.
He entered a higher dimension and crossed five billion kilometers with a single step.
His figure flickered again as he descended from the higher dimension back into three dimensional space.
The surroundings had completely changed.
He now stood upon the desolate surface of Farstar.
Dust rolled across the barren land in every direction.
"This is somewhat different from what I imagined."
Caelum raised his head toward the sky.
Vast quantities of cosmic dust surrounded Farstar’s atmosphere.
There was no blue sky.
No white clouds.
Neither the stars nor the sun could be seen.
Yet despite those conditions, the atmosphere of Farstar was warm.
By all logic, the planet should have been a frozen wasteland.
There was only one explanation.
Someone had altered the environment.
"Either the people of Farstar transformed the planet themselves, or an outside force interfered with both its environment and the development of its civilization."
Caelum’s gaze sharpened.
The first possibility was simple enough.
The second would be far more interesting.
Before long, he discovered an immense urban region.
Towering buildings filled the horizon.
Roads were crowded with vehicles and pedestrians.
The people looked no different from him.
They were all human.
Caelum made no attempt to conceal himself.
He openly wandered through the city.
At the same time, thunder exploded within a magnificent structure at the center of the city, one resembling a vast temple.
A figure wrapped in crackling electricity appeared.
He was a large and rugged man.
Light surged within his eyes, while powerful currents danced across his entire body.
His expression carried natural authority.
A silver metal spear rested in his hand.
His ancient style armor looked completely out of place amid the modern city.
"Vermin."
The man snorted coldly.
He twisted his waist, gathered his strength, and hurled the silver spear.
It tore through every building in its path before striking Caelum directly.
Then it passed straight through his body.
Boom!
The spear slammed into the ground and buried itself deep beneath the surface.
"What happened?"
"What is going on?"
The people nearby recoiled in alarm and hurried away.
Curiosity could get someone killed.
Whatever was happening, keeping their distance was clearly the safest choice.
Caelum understood immediately.
"So it really was the second possibility."
He turned toward the direction from which the spear had come.
A streak of light passed through one towering building after another and stopped before him.
It was the man in ancient armor.
The man raised one hand.
The spear buried underground flew back into his grasp.
He stared at the unharmed Caelum, unable to understand what he was seeing.
The spear had clearly struck him.
"Lord Magnus!"
A nearby civilian cried out after recognizing the man.
Magnus pointed the spear at Caelum.
His expression turned cold.
"Who are you? How dare you trespass upon the world of a god?"
"A god?"
Caelum examined Magnus.
The quantum computer completed a full analysis in an instant and projected the results directly into his vision.
Every part of Magnus’s body was covered in advanced technology.
Even the spear in his hand was a dense weapon made from material bound by the strong nuclear force.
Such material could be considered among the hardest in the universe.
Its atoms were packed tightly together under the strong nuclear force without the slightest gap.
That made it nearly indestructible.
He was nothing more than a false god.
Caelum ignored Magnus’s question.
"Are you the one who interfered with this planet’s civilization?"
"What if I am?"
Magnus answered coldly.
"Then I found the right person."
The moment those words fell, Caelum attacked without warning.
Magnus had no idea what had happened before his body was already flying through the air.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
His figure became a dark streak as it smashed through building after building.
Finally, he struck the ground and created a crater one hundred meters across.
The attack had come from a higher dimension.
There was no possibility that Magnus could have defended against it.
The difference in power between them could not even be measured by ordinary scales.
Even an advantage of one dimension would have allowed Caelum to crush him.
The gap between them was eight dimensions.
Killing Magnus would be easier than stepping on an ant.
A deep hum rose from the crater.
A ring of light ascended into the air.
An invisible force field swept outward as vast energy surged in every direction.
Every concrete and steel building nearby evaporated in an instant.
Magnus roared in fury.
"You dare offend a god? You deserve death!"
