Chapter 219: Tetesky
Chapter 219: Tetesky
Everyone in Travira was an ordinary person.
However, once selected by the Secret War, a Master could use the power of the mark to perform certain arcane arts.
Some organizations and families with deep knowledge of mysticism could even treat the mark as a source of power and display considerable combat strength.
Throughout the history of the Secret War, many Masters had managed to fight Servants directly.
They relied upon arcane techniques developed by generations of Masters.
Only during the Secret War could they borrow the power of the mark and unleash those techniques.
As an investigator of mysterious incidents, Corvus had once belonged to an arcane organization.
Naturally, he knew at least a few such techniques.
Examining a Servant’s identity and strength was among the most basic skills.
Unfortunately, he failed to uncover even the slightest information about Caelum.
He did not know who Caelum truly was.
Nor could he determine the extent of his strength.
The only thing Corvus could confirm was that Caelum possessed an exceptional ability to conceal himself.
Since Caelum did not wish to reveal his identity, Corvus did not press him.
"As teammates, I would like to hear your opinion. What is our plan from here?"
"There is no plan."
Caelum walked out of the warehouse while cracking sunflower seeds between his teeth.
"I came here to relax and enjoy myself. Do whatever you wish. There is no need to take me into consideration."
"Understood."
It had to be said that Caelum and Corvus were highly compatible.
Both were fiercely independent.
Their actions and decisions were equally swift and decisive.
Even their personalities and manner of doing things were remarkably similar.
Within the Secret War, it was extremely dangerous for a Master to act alone.
Once another Servant targeted them, they usually had no power to resist.
If the Master died, the contract with the Servant would fail.
The Servant would then be returned to their original world and eliminated from the war.
Compared with killing a Servant, killing a Master was clearly much easier.
That was why most Masters and Servants acted together.
Pairs like Caelum and Corvus were rare.
Each did whatever he pleased.
Caelum wandered freely without restraint, while Corvus showed no concern for his own safety and roamed the city alone.
Late at night, the streets gradually emptied.
Not a single pedestrian remained.
Even the lights along the deserted road had gone dark, leaving only faint moonlight spilling across the ground.
Corvus crossed the street, then suddenly stopped.
Two figures stood on the opposite side beneath the pale moonlight.
One was a young woman wearing the uniform of a convenience store cashier.
Displeasure covered her face.
Beside her stood a powerfully built man.
The young woman snorted.
"We had the perfect chance to ambush him, yet you insisted on a direct confrontation. Is your head filled with nothing but muscle? You wasted such a good opportunity."
"Haha."
The large man paid no attention to her complaints.
He drew the sword at his waist and walked toward Corvus.
"Ambushes are the methods of cowards. Master, I will give you a chance to resist me."
There was no chance of victory.
The instant Corvus saw the man, he sensed the enormous difference in strength between them.
This had to be a heroic figure from another world.
No ordinary mystic could possibly contend with him.
"You actually dared to leave your Servant and act alone. I do not know whether that makes you confident or foolish. Either way, I will claim the first kill of this Secret War."
The young woman issued another impatient command.
"Tetesky, finish him quickly!"
"Understood!"
Boom!
Tetesky shattered the solid pavement beneath one foot.
At that moment, he seemed to transform into a prehistoric beast.
A terrifying wild presence surged around him as he charged toward Corvus.
Then came a sudden sound.
Crack.
Someone was eating sunflower seeds beside the young woman’s ear.
She froze in confusion.
Then her pupils contracted, and she turned in panic.
A crimson mark entered her vision.
"Tetesky, save me!"
Her terrified scream made Tetesky stop.
Without hesitation, he turned and rushed back toward her.
He was too late.
Caelum stood beside the young woman.
She spun around and tried to flee.
Caelum merely glanced at her from the corner of his eye.
Her body instantly crumbled into ash.
Tetesky saw everything.
His eyes widened with fury.
"Master!"
He roared and brought his sword down with murderous force.
Caelum casually raised one hand.
Without the slightest effort, he caught the blade between his fingers.
Tetesky’s breath stopped.
Then his entire body also turned to ash.
The Servants of the Secret War had not even finished arriving, yet Caelum had already eliminated one Master and Servant pair through absolute strength.
Even Corvus could not hide his alarm.
"You are far stronger than I imagined."
Caelum dusted off his hands and continued eating sunflower seeds.
"You also understood me better than I expected."
If Caelum wished, he could end the entire Secret War in an instant.
There was no need.
This game contained several old acquaintances.
Failing to greet them properly would be far too dull.
Opportunities to gather so many familiar faces together were rare.
Caelum was equally interested in seeing what kind of amusing situation would emerge when they all collided.
He looked toward the roof of a distant building.
Two figures stood there.
Corvus had used himself as bait to great effect and had drawn out several participants at once.
Night winds howled across the rooftop.
A young university student wearing glasses shivered in the cold.
Beside him, a wild and arrogant figure stood upon the railing, glaring at Caelum from afar through clenched teeth.
It was Fenrir from the World of Sorcery.
Veins bulged across Fenrir’s forehead.
"It is that brat!"
The sight of Caelum brought all his past humiliation rushing back.
Boundless fury surged through him.
Without another word, Fenrir formed a True Void Orb.
A deep hum spread through the air.
Cursed Energy erupted.
The university student beside him felt his scalp prickle and hurriedly shouted, "Did we not agree that we were only here to investigate? If you attack recklessly, we will expose ourselves..."
"Shut up!"
Fenrir was consumed by rage.
He could no longer control himself.
At last, he had found a chance to avenge his humiliation.
There was no way he could hold back.
Boom!
The True Void Orb carried terrifying Cursed Energy between the towering buildings.
Its force shattered every window along its path.
Like a cannonball, it flew straight toward Caelum.
The brilliant sphere tore through the air with a piercing howl.
Winds roared around it.
Just before it struck Caelum, it stopped dead in midair.
Boom!
The violent explosion destroyed every surrounding building.
An invisible barrier stood between Caelum and the True Void Orb.
The immense blast could not touch him in the slightest.
An unseen force suppressed the explosion.
Caelum met Fenrir’s gaze.
"That is quite an enthusiastic greeting."
Fenrir knew he would only humiliate himself again, yet he had still attacked.
As expected of him.
He remained as arrogant and contemptuous as ever.
He had not learned the slightest lesson.
