Chapter 220: Lord God and Lord God
Chapter 220: Lord God and Lord God
Dread Master had been a figure of some standing in the Celestial Arc Realm of Immortal Ascension.
At the very least, he had been a Master of the Immortal Realm.
He simply lacked presence.
At the time, the Celestial Arc Realm was entering an age of great revival.
Compared with the elders of the Great Orders, he fell short.
Compared with the rising prodigies of every faction, his light was completely overshadowed.
Before long, the Celestial Arc Realm gradually forgot him.
After their clash outside the Worldbreaker Physique Divine Estate, Caelum never crossed paths with him again.
From beginning to end, Caelum had never taken Dread Master seriously.
Dread Master felt very differently.
He was narrow minded and had carried a deep grudge against Caelum ever since.
As a senior figure of the Ascendant World, he had been intimidated in front of the major Sects and his fellow cultivators by a mere junior of the Ascendant Realm.
His dignity as an elder had been utterly ruined.
He refused to let the matter go even on the day his lifespan reached its end.
How could he not hate Caelum?
"Heh heh."
He laughed darkly.
"The heavens truly favor me. At last, I have found the one responsible for this humiliation."
"Brat who inherited the Divine Firmament Codex, just you wait."
At the estate outside Travira, the wealthy man attended to the God of War like a servant.
With the utmost respect, he asked, "Lord God, how fares the battle?"
The God of War remained silent for a long moment before answering.
"Two Master and Servant pairs have already been eliminated."
"So quickly?"
The wealthy man had not expected that.
The intensity of the fighting far exceeded his imagination.
All seven pairs had not even assembled yet, and two had already been eliminated.
That was far too fast.
There was one thing the God of War did not mention.
From beginning to end, even he had been unable to see who had killed Tetesky and Fenrir.
His divination magic had been detected.
The moment the battle ended, the God of War could no longer trace the victor.
He searched all of Travira with magic, yet found not a single clue.
That pair seemed to have vanished from the face of the world.
His expression hardened.
"Though merely an insect, he possesses a few tricks."
The wealthy man offered a suggestion.
"Lord God, should we intercept the final pair?"
"When that Master summons their Servant, we could catch them off guard and eliminate them in one strike."
"There is no need."
The God of War’s voice remained perfectly calm, devoid of any human emotion.
"I am the God of War, the undefeated god."
"No being in this world can rival me."
"Why would I resort to such methods?"
The wealthy man paled.
He quickly dropped to his knees and seized the chance to shower the god with praise.
"Lord God is the undefeated god of this world. How could mere insects such as those Masters and Servants stand against you?"
"Divine glory cannot be stained. Lord God would never resort to vile methods and disgrace the name of the God of War."
"Please forgive my offense."
The God of War paid it no mind.
"You are forgiven."
Only then did the wealthy man rise.
He immediately resumed flattering the god.
"How could insects ever contend with Magnus?"
"Once the remaining pairs have gathered and the time is right, Lord God need only make a move to sweep them all away and exterminate every last one."
Flattery aside, that was also what he genuinely believed.
The wealthy man had absolute confidence in his God of War.
Across every Secret War in history, no participant had ever possessed greater reason for confidence.
His Servant was the supreme god of another world.
With such a Servant, losing seemed almost impossible.
"A figure who has lived for a thousand years..."
A man in black robes blended into the darkness of the night.
As he recalled the battle between Caelum and Fenrir, he felt that this Secret War would be difficult.
In his estimation, even if Caelum was not a god from another world, he had to be a legendary figure from myth.
And one with extraordinary combat strength.
"I only hope I have some chance of winning."
He murmured to himself.
Then he raised his right hand, revealing the crimson mark on its back.
The summoning began.
"The mysteries of endless worlds drift within the void of fantasy."
"The stars reflect the devotion within our hearts."
"Noble heroes compose immortal epics."
"Supreme existence."
"God above the heavens."
"Hidden will that stands above all things."
"..."
The black robed man’s invocation was far longer than the wealthy man’s.
This allowed him to summon a more specific kind of Servant.
However, success was not guaranteed.
Luck would still determine the result.
Adding those lines did not ensure that the desired Servant would answer.
As the final words of the invocation fell, the black robed man’s voice abruptly stopped.
A faint hum sounded.
A point of starlight appeared before him.
It slowly condensed into a human shape.
Starlight curled around the figure’s body like flames.
Looking upon that being felt like gazing into the depths of the universe.
The summoning had succeeded.
The black robed man’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Once he recovered, his heart pounded wildly and excitement poured across his face.
A god.
A true god.
"I am Astrion. I have answered your summons..."
The voice carried majesty and divinity.
But before he could finish, Astrion’s cold expression changed sharply.
He seemed to sense something.
Human panic and terror appeared across his face.
The black robed man froze.
"Lord God, what is wrong?"
"This... this is Earth?"
Astrion sensed the New Kirk barrier nearby.
A chill shot straight through him and nearly scattered his soul.
His form shook violently.
The starlight burning around him flickered wildly, revealing just how agitated he had become.
The reason was simple.
The New Kirk barrier had been constructed from his divine remains.
That was right.
The unfortunate Astrion had been one of the Lord Gods of the Divine Wasteland World.
When the Divine Wasteland World first invaded Earth, he had come forward as one of the Lord Gods leading the assault.
Then there had been nothing after that.
Caelum had brutally torn him apart.
After his death, his divine remains were used to construct the New Kirk barrier.
That prevented the Divine Wasteland World from closing the passage through space and time.
From that point onward, the seven Lord Gods of the Divine Wasteland World became six.
Each of the seven Lord Gods represented an indispensable part of the Divine Wasteland World.
After Astrion died, the Divine Wasteland World soon gave birth to him again.
In truth, Caelum had struck so ruthlessly that the previous Astrion had been erased entirely from the source.
This generation of Astrion could not truly be considered resurrected.
He merely possessed the memories of his predecessor.
He was already a completely new individual.
Astrion broke down.
"I am not playing anymore."
"I want to return to the Divine Wasteland World."
"Send me back right now."
"I do not want to stay here!"
The black robed man stared at Astrion as the god lost all composure.
For a moment, he had no idea what to say.
His feelings were complicated.
A god?
This was what a god looked like?
He hurried to calm him.
"Lord God, there is no need to panic."
"With your power, sweeping through the Secret War would be effortless."
"You could even conquer this world. Why would you..."
"You know nothing!"
Astrion snapped in fury.
All divine dignity vanished as he hurled a crude insult at the black robed man, leaving him unable to react.
