Gene Fusion System: Crime Hunter
Chapter 1446 Acting Righteously? Overcoming Difficulties
“Mr. Luo, we really have to thank you this time. If you hadn’t stepped up right away and handled things yourself, I’m afraid we’d be facing a lot more trouble.”
As Luo Fei and his group were getting ready to leave the temple,
the monks there all came out one after another to thank him.
But his expression was still heavy.
This let Yang Mei, who was beside him, notice that something was off.
“Mr. Luo, you don’t look so good.”
“Could it be you found some serious clue? Or is there some new development in another case?”
She could hear that he was holding something back, with a bit of expectation in her tone.
Luo Fei neither confirmed nor denied it.
“Yang Mei, this is a long story.”
So here’s what happened.
Luo Fei had learned, after receiving a phone call,
that just earlier,
one of Tang Siqi’s classmates had died in the hospital.
Although Dong Jialin would definitely be convicted of intentional homicide,
this classmate’s death was still a real pity.
He figured that once Tang Siqi found out,
she’d be in a very bad way emotionally.
Realizing this,
Yang Mei suddenly understood.
“Mr. Luo, this really does sound terrible. I honestly never thought something like this would happen. That Dong Jialin is just too disgusting. He could even go that far against his own classmates. If we’d caught him any later, who knows what even more terrifying things he might have done?”
Seeing the serious look on Yang Mei’s face,
Luo Fei again neither confirmed nor denied it.
“Yeah, that’s what I think too.”
“But I’m sure Tang Siqi must be feeling awful right now, so I’m still worried about her.”
Seeing Luo Fei looking like he wanted to say something but held back,
his expression a bit complicated,
Yang Mei understood again.
“Mr. Luo, some things aren’t going to go the way we want. And since this has already happened, all we can really do is let things take their course.”
“I know.”
But even though Luo Fei said that,
deep down he still felt uncertain.
More importantly, there were still some suspicious points.
Luo Fei had noticed them.
He just hadn’t fully shared his thoughts with Yang Mei.
At the same time,
Luo Fei received a phone call.
“Mr. Luo, there’s a case.”
Hearing Yang Wen’s voice,
Luo Fei was a bit surprised.
“Cousin, didn’t you just get home? How’d you run into a case again?”
He could tell Yang Wen was a bit taken aback himself.
Yang Wen could only give a slightly embarrassed explanation.
“Mr. Luo, just now when I was out shopping, I ran into a young girl. She was dressed well, very polished and glamorous, but I still felt like… something was off about her.”
What Yang Wen said made Luo Fei alert at once.
After all, Luo Fei knew
that Yang Wen had been solving cases for years.
Since he had that kind of gut feeling now,
it basically meant his worry probably wasn’t unnecessary.
So he immediately shared this thought with Yang Mei.
But after hearing Luo Fei’s idea,
Yang Mei couldn’t help being surprised.
“Mr. Luo, do you really think what my cousin said is reliable? It might just be some kind of occupational disease. Or maybe because of what he went through before, he’s gotten overly sensitive and suspicious?”
Seeing that Yang Mei was a bit on guard,
with clear doubt written on her face,
Luo Fei shook his head.
“Yang Mei, some things aren’t as simple as we think. And what he’s been through might be beyond what we can imagine.”
As he spoke, Luo Fei immediately contacted Su Manying.
“Mr. Luo, I didn’t expect you to call me personally. I’ve pretty much settled everything for Tang Siqi’s situation. The charity foundation’s accounts have already been made public online, and a lot of people are spontaneously organizing to donate to that little girl Tang Siqi.”
“I also believe that with both of us working together, it won’t be long before Tang Siqi walks out of her psychological shadow. She won’t keep feeling so depressed.”
He could hear the excitement in her voice; clearly,
she felt like she’d accomplished something big.
Luo Fei hurried to explain.
“Boss Su, don’t get the wrong idea. That’s not what I’m calling about.”
“I wanted to talk to you about finding a psychologist for Tang Siqi. And there’s one more favor I’d like to ask you…”
After Luo Fei explained his thoughts,
Boss Su got a bit worked up.
“Mr. Luo, that’s a great idea. I just didn’t expect that I’d be the first one you thought of to discuss this with. I’m honestly a little flattered.”
In Su Manying’s view, this meant Luo Fei trusted her a lot.
So she was very happy.
But Luo Fei was still worried she’d misunderstand his intentions,
so he quickly explained again.
“Boss Su, don’t misunderstand. I just think you’re very capable.”
“And I also know that successful people like you usually have your own psychologists. That’s why I came to you, Boss Su. I hope you don’t mind, and don’t misread what I mean.”
He sounded a bit embarrassed,
as if he was afraid she’d take it the wrong way.
Su Manying quickly waved it off.
“Mr. Luo, you’re joking. I definitely didn’t think that. You really don’t need to worry.”
“And I’m very happy to be able to help you, Mr. Luo.”
Hearing this,
Luo Fei was a bit surprised.
“Really? If Boss Su doesn’t mind, that’s the best.”
“Of course I don’t mind. And I completely understand how you feel, Mr. Luo. This all makes perfect sense.”
With Boss Su agreeing,
