Genetic Evolution: Mythic Tier from the Rock Monkey Gene
Chapter 170 - 147: Controlling the Thundercloud, First External Gene, Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing
Chapter 170: Chapter 147: Controlling the Thundercloud, First External Gene, Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing
"This should be the core of this thundercloud," Ji Zhixing thought, flapping his wind wings to draw a bit closer.
But as soon as he approached, he felt a massive repulsive force surge out from the vortex, pushing him back.
"No good, it seems I won’t be able to get close to it for now," he thought. Ji Zhixing shook his head and gave up on the idea. His connection with this thundercloud wasn’t deep enough yet, making it impossible to approach the core. While examining the thundercloud, he realized that although his connection with it had deepened, he was still far from completely controlling it.
"I can only wait until I finish refining that Purple Gold Thunder Wing Beast to see what comes out of it," Ji Zhixing thought.
"What’s the situation up there?"
Down below, Xu Cheng and Jiang Qingqian noticed that the commotion in the thundercloud had ceased. Not knowing what was happening, they could only wait anxiously on the ground. Xu Cheng stared upward until his neck ached, but he couldn’t see anything besides the pitch-black thundercloud and the occasional flash of lightning. Jiang Qingqian also stared intently at the sky, her eyes filled with worry.
While the two waited below, up in the thundercloud, Ji Zhixing’s expression suddenly changed. He felt the power within the Wind Wing Scroll nearing depletion. "It’s no good. The wind wings are about to disappear," he thought.
The pair of translucent wind wings began to dim, their flapping frequency slowing down. They could dissipate at any moment. He wasn’t afraid of falling. With his current strength, even if he fell, the impact wouldn’t kill him. He wouldn’t even be injured. However, he feared that if he descended, his connection with the thundercloud would weaken once again.
"Let me help you! Try to control this thundercloud!"
Right at that moment, Xiao Mingyue’s voice suddenly rang out from outside the thundercloud. Immediately after, Ji Zhixing saw Xiao Mingyue lightly flap her Flame Wings and fly directly inside. Her figure moved like lightning, reaching the edge of the thundercloud in the blink of an eye.
"Don’t!"
Ji Zhixing tried to stop her, but it was already too late. As soon as Xiao Mingyue’s body entered the thundercloud, the long, serpentine streaks of lightning within it instantly began to violently riot. Purple-gold lightning surged from all directions, lunging fiercely at Xiao Mingyue like a pack of wild beasts.
"Stop!"
Ji Zhixing focused his mind, hastily trying to control the lightning serpents once more. Concentrating all his mental energy, he issued commands to the lightning through his connection with the thundercloud.
"BUZZ!"
The next moment, the lightning serpents fell silent once again. They slowly retreated, returning to a state of calm.
"That was close," Ji Zhixing muttered, breathing a sigh of relief as a fine layer of sweat seeped from his forehead.
At the same time, Xiao Mingyue also let out a sigh of relief. Hovering in the thundercloud with her Flame Wings flapping gently, her gaze swept over the roaming lightning around her, a trace of gladness flashing in her eyes. She then flapped her wings and arrived by Ji Zhixing’s side, casting an encircling wind upon him that significantly lightened his body. She reached out and supported him, preventing him from falling out of the thundercloud when the power of the Wind Wing Scroll completely vanished.
"Thank goodness you were here. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have been able to take down that gene beast, let alone enter this thundercloud," Ji Zhixing said with emotion, looking at Xiao Mingyue.
"Of course," Xiao Mingyue said with a smug expression, winking at him. "After all, I’m your absolute cutest girlfriend."
Ji Zhixing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Shaking his head, he asked, "Say, if this entire thundercloud is a rare treasure, would I be able to refine it?"
"It would be very difficult," Xiao Mingyue said, shaking her head. "This rare treasure is too massive. It’s not something an ordinary Genetic Cultivator can refine.
"If you were a Fourth-rank Morning Star Gene Practitioner right now, perhaps you could. But your current cultivation is too low."
"Then what should we do?" Ji Zhixing furrowed his brows. He could sense the value of this thundercloud; it absolutely far exceeded all the treasures he had obtained before. It would be a huge pity if he couldn’t take it with him.
"As for the exact situation, let’s wait until you’ve refined that gene beast and see if anything comes out of it first," Xiao Mingyue comforted.
Ji Zhixing nodded, knowing this was the only option for now. He reached out and wrapped his arm around Xiao Mingyue’s waist, standing together with her amidst the thundercloud. The wind wings were still barely holding on, but with Xiao Mingyue by his side, he wasn’t afraid even if they disappeared. He closed his eyes and began to activate the Genetic Melting Furnace with all his might, refining the Purple Gold Thunder Wing Beast inside.
"I wonder what will come out," Ji Zhixing thought silently as he continued refining.
"Zhixing, how are you guys doing?" Xu Cheng suddenly called out from below right at that moment.
"Don’t worry, we’re very safe right now," Xiao Mingyue replied on Ji Zhixing’s behalf. "But it might take a while before we can head down."
Hearing this, Xu Cheng and Jiang Qingqian finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Time slipped by, minute by minute.
Ji Zhixing refined continuously. It took him over twenty minutes to finally finish refining the Tier-3 Purple Gold Thunder Wing Beast.
"Something really did come out!"
After the refinement was complete, Ji Zhixing looked into his Genetic Melting Furnace and immediately noticed a few new items inside. Besides two fist-sized Genetic Source Stones, a purple-gold crystal had also appeared.
The crystal wasn’t large—only about the size of a fingernail—but it was entirely purple-gold and crystal clear. Faintly visible inside was a pair of purple-gold thunder wings. They flashed continuously with electricity, looking so lifelike that they seemed ready to fly out of the crystal at any moment.
