Chapter 171 - 147: Controlling the Thundercloud, First External Gene, Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing

Chapter 171: Chapter 147: Controlling the Thundercloud, First External Gene, Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing

"What is this?"

Ji Zhixing probed it with his spirit and immediately obtained the information about the crystal. His heart skipped a beat as he thought, "An External Gene... I actually obtained another External Gene."

Previously in the Blood Beast Secret Realm, he had obtained an External Gene. The gene he acquired back then would have granted him the ability to release a blood-red spiderweb once refined. Since that ability wasn’t very suitable for him, he hadn’t refined it, planning to find a chance to sell it instead. The last time he offloaded his equipment, he held off on selling it out of fear that dumping too many items at once would draw unwanted attention. He never expected to obtain another External Gene this time around.

He read the information, "Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing. Once refined, it can manifest the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wings, granting the ability of flight and amplifying the power of certain lightning-attribute abilities."

Upon sensing the information of this External Gene, an uncontrollable look of joy appeared on Ji Zhixing’s face. Unlike the previous blood-red spiderweb, the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing was clearly very suitable for him. This was especially true since he now wielded the power of lightning as well.

Moreover, the ability carried by this External Gene was a flight ability. Previously, during his battle with Gu Zheng, he had felt the awkwardness of being unable to fly. Although he was not weak, when facing an enemy who could take to the skies, he wouldn’t even be able to catch up if they decided to flee. But if he refined this newly acquired Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing External Gene, it would be a completely different story if he ever encountered a similar situation in the future.

"What’s wrong? Did a good item drop?" Xiao Mingyue asked expectantly, noticing Ji Zhixing’s expression.

"Yeah." Ji Zhixing nodded. He didn’t hide it this time, directly taking out the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing External Gene he had just obtained.

The purple-gold crystal lay in the palm of his hand. The pair of lightning wings inside constantly flickered with electricity, looking extremely dazzling.

"An External Gene?" Xiao Mingyue’s eyes immediately lit up when she saw the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing gene. She took the crystal, examined it closely, and asked thoughtfully, "Does this External Gene contain a flight-type gene ability?"

"Yes." Ji Zhixing nodded and explained the abilities of the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing.

"Not bad," Xiao Mingyue said, a joyful look appearing on her face. "This External Gene suits you perfectly." She handed the crystal back to Ji Zhixing and urged him, "Hurry up and try refining it right now. Once it’s refined, let’s see if your connection with this thundercloud will strengthen."

"Alright." Ji Zhixing nodded. He took the crystal, stored it into his Genetic Melting Furnace, and began the refinement process.

The refinement took a bit less time on this occasion. After about ten minutes, he felt that the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing gene was fully refined. The next moment, with a thought, the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing gene flew out of his Genetic Melting Furnace and landed in his Genetic Acupoint.

Ji Zhixing didn’t choose to send it into the Genetic Acupoint where the Five-Colored Willow Tree gene was located; instead, he sent it into the Genetic Acupoint of the Ten-foot Stone Monkey gene. As soon as the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing gene entered the Ten-foot Stone Monkey gene’s Genetic Acupoint, it transformed into a pair of wings and landed on the back of the Ten-foot Stone Monkey. The wings flowed with a purple-gold hue and flickered with electricity. They fit perfectly with the Ten-foot Stone Monkey’s physique, making it look incredibly majestic.

"Not bad." Ji Zhixing glanced at the new appearance of the Ten-foot Stone Monkey gene, nodded slightly, and then withdrew his consciousness.

"How is it?" Xiao Mingyue immediately asked when she saw him snap out of his trance.

"Let me try it," Ji Zhixing said.

With a thought, a pair of Purple Gold Thundercloud Wings made of lightning emerged from his back. The wings had a wingspan of fully three meters. They were entirely purple-gold, with every single feather condensed from pure lightning, emitting loud CRACKLES of electricity. Flapping the wings gently, he easily levitated in midair without needing any external force.

Ji Zhixing was exceptionally delighted as he thought, "A flight ability... I finally have one!"

At the same time, as he refined the Purple Gold Thundercloud Wing gene, he suddenly felt that his connection to this thundercloud had deepened significantly. He closed his eyes and carefully sensed his connection with the thundercloud. A moment later, he opened his eyes, a glint flashing through them.

"Let’s give it a try!" he muttered.

With a thought, Ji Zhixing used his connection to the thundercloud to command it to blast a purple-gold bolt of lightning downward.

BOOM!

The bolt of lightning, as thick as an arm, struck down from the thundercloud. Carrying a blinding light, it blasted into the distant ground, blowing open a massive crater and sending rubble and dust flying in all directions.

"What’s going on?"

Xu Cheng and Jiang Qingqian, who were waiting below, were both startled when they saw the striking purple-gold lightning. The two subconsciously took a few steps back and looked up at the thundercloud in the sky.

"Did you do that?" Xiao Mingyue immediately looked at Ji Zhixing when she saw the lightning bolt.

"Yeah." Ji Zhixing nodded slightly. "I can now roughly control this thundercloud. I can command it to move anywhere or strike lightning at a designated location."

However, right after saying that, he frowned and added, "But this thundercloud is too huge. I can’t store it inside my Genetic Melting Furnace.

"Because of this, I won’t be able to completely refine it, nor will I be able to take it out of the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land."

"That’s easy to solve," Xiao Mingyue said, a smile appearing on her face. "If this thundercloud is too big, just make it shrink."

"Shrink?" Ji Zhixing paused in surprise.

"Yes," Xiao Mingyue nodded. "Since you can now control it to strike down lightning, all you need to do is continuously make it discharge its contained lightning power, and its size will definitely decrease over time."
