Chapter 468 - 382: Avril’s Spiritual Magic and Inspecting the Magic Academy
Chapter 468: Chapter 382: Avril’s Spiritual Magic and Inspecting the Magic Academy
After making an agreement with the Wuba Tribe Leader, Raylo didn’t stay long in the Giant Tribe.
He had accomplished the goal of his trip—and even exceeded his expectations. Now, he needed to return to Black Stone Territory at once to prepare for the arrival of more than a hundred Giants.
In the small square of Black Stone Castle, space began to ripple like a calm lake disturbed by a thrown stone.
A rift tore open out of thin air. Raylo and Marlin stepped out from it, landing steadily on the solid ground.
Behind them, the menacing spatial rift closed without a sound, leaving only a faint silver halo in its wake.
The Knights patrolling the square respectfully stopped and saluted their Lord with a hand to their chest.
ROAR!
Sun, perched on Raylo’s shoulder, stretched lazily and took a leap.
In mid-air, its orange fur receded like a tide, replaced by dazzling golden Dragon Scales.
Its body expanded rapidly as it fell, transforming in the blink of an eye into a hundred-meter-long Golden Giant Dragon.
With a beat of its wings that stirred up a powerful gust of air, Sun’s massive body rose into the air and landed atop Black Stone Castle.
Before Raylo could even take a step, several swift shadows darted past him.
In just a few bounds, Moonlight scaled the castle’s outer wall as if it were level ground, leaping swiftly along the window ledges.
Following close behind was a black blur—Coal Ball. It pumped its four short legs, but by using its precise control over space, its body continuously blinked across short distances.
Last was a bolt of blue lightning. The creature named Lightning leaped up the wall, its claws striking faint sparks from the stone, easily keeping pace with the others.
The three little companions had a clear and unified goal.
Raylo’s bedroom.
"These little rascals..."
Raylo chuckled and shook his head.
He turned and said to Marlin,
"Master Marlin, I’m leaving the arrangements for the Giants to you. We need to prepare a large enough camp, and food..."
"Please rest assured, my Lord."
Marlin’s expression was energized.
"More than a hundred Giants! I’ll coordinate with Evan immediately about the food and camp. I’ll make sure everything is handled perfectly."
Raylo nodded and said no more.
As he walked through the familiar corridors, guards saluted him one after another.
The tension Raylo felt began to ease as soon as he stepped into the castle he called his own.
Unlike the rough, primitive style of the Giant Tribe, everything inside Black Stone Castle was orderly. The Solid stone walls, bright Magic Lamps, and clean floors all gave him the comforting sense of being home.
He pushed open the heavy oak door to his bedroom.
The moment the door was pushed open, a wave of cold, sinister air rushed toward him.
A translucent, ferocious-looking spectral Illusion shrieked and lunged at him, all fangs and claws, looking as if it wanted to tear his very soul to shreds.
An ordinary Knight would have been scared half to death on the spot.
But Raylo merely arched an eyebrow.
Invisible Spiritual Power surged forth like an indestructible wave.
POOF.
The menacing spectral Illusion, upon contact with Raylo’s Spiritual Power, popped like a soap bubble in the sun. It shattered and dissipated in an instant, leaving not a single trace behind.
The sinister chill in the bedroom vanished along with it.
Raylo walked into the room.
He saw Avril standing by the window, one hand behind her back. She had a proud, mischievous smile on her face, and her bright eyes were fixed on him.
Clearly, the simple prank just now had been her handiwork.
"It looks like your Spiritual Magic has improved a lot while I’ve been away."
Raylo walked up to her, his voice full of amusement.
’Judging from that spectral Illusion,’ Raylo thought, ’both the stability of its form and the fluctuation of its energy were quite rudimentary. Still, she managed to form it successfully, which means Avril has truly taken her first step into Spiritual Magic.’
"Of course it has."
Avril lifted her chin proudly.
She brought out the hand she had been holding behind her back. A soft ball of Spiritual Power gathered in her fair palm, slowly coalescing into a dancing butterfly.
The butterfly’s wings were translucent and shimmering faintly. Though still a bit unstable, its form was remarkably lifelike.
"See? I can create a butterfly now!"
Avril’s voice was filled with excitement.
"Spiritual Magic really is so much more interesting than Elemental Magic. It suits me better, too."
Raylo took her hand, and the butterfly of Spiritual Power in her palm dissipated.
"It’s true. Your talent is far greater than I imagined."
Raylo’s praise was sincere.
A lovely blush rose to Avril’s cheeks. She withdrew her hand and smoothly unfastened Raylo’s cloak, hanging it on a nearby rack.
"Was your trip successful? Over at the Giant City-State... you didn’t run into any trouble, did you?"
She asked softly as she adjusted his collar.
"It went very smoothly."
Raylo briefly recounted his journey to the Giant Dragon Realm, leaving out the more difficult parts.
"In seven days, Black Stone Territory will welcome more than a hundred new Giants."
"More than a hundred... Giants?"
Avril’s eyes widened in surprise, a look that quickly turned into pure joy.
"That’s wonderful! This will make the territory’s defenses even stronger."
Unlike other noble ladies who only cared about jewels and balls, she truly treated Black Stone Territory as her home, caring about its every development.
"Yes. So, we’re going to be busy."
Raylo pulled her down to sit on the soft couch by the bed. The fatigue from his journey began to melt away in his wife’s gentle company.
