Chapter 502: Chapter 396: Are All Giant Dragons This Vengeful?
Soon, thick plumes of black smoke poured into the Earth Dragons’ lair.
ROAR!
ROAR!
From deep within the cave came a series of uneasy, angry roars.
Then, the ground began to shake violently.
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE!
Like a raging flood, a horde of massive figures burst from the cave.
They were the Earth Dragons!
These Earth Dragons were covered in thick, rock-like Scale Armor. Their limbs were stout and powerful, and a sharp, single horn grew from their heads.
The sight of over two hundred Earth Dragons stampeding at once was a magnificent spectacle.
Choking on the thick smoke, their eyes were bloodshot, and they appeared exceptionally agitated.
However, as they charged out of the cave, they saw over a hundred Hill Giants waiting for them—behemoths that were even taller and stronger than they were. Every last Earth Dragon instinctively stopped in its tracks.
They could sense the dangerous aura radiating from the Giants.
The Earth Dragon Group let out a series of low hisses, hesitating on whether to charge forward or retreat into the cave.
At that moment, a resounding dragon’s roar echoed from the sky.
The Golden Dragon Sun descended from the sky.
His hundred-meter-long golden body, with wings outstretched, blocked the sun, casting a vast shadow upon the ground.
An overwhelming Dragon Mighty, like a tsunami, swept across the entire valley.
A dragon!
A true Giant Dragon!
Under the pressure of Sun’s terrifying Dragon Mighty, all the Earth Dragons were frozen in place, as if struck by an Immobilization Technique.
Their bodies trembled uncontrollably, and their eyes were filled with fear and awe.
As Subspecies Dragon Beasts, they were far more sensitive to Dragon Mighty than ordinary Magical Beasts, and thus more easily affected.
Some of the Earth Dragons with weaker bloodlines even prostrated themselves on the ground, burying their heads in a display of submission.
"Good job, Sun!"
praised Raylo.
Up in the sky, Sun gave his massive head a smug shake.
The Giants, who had long been waiting, immediately charged forward with ropes they had prepared in advance.
Although the Earth Dragons possessed immense strength, their struggles were futile against the even more overbearing and brutish Hill Giants.
With their fan-sized hands, the Giants easily pinned the Earth Dragons’ heads and looped ropes around their thick necks.
The entire capture process, although a bit chaotic, went exceptionally smoothly.
In less than half an hour, the Giants had successfully subdued all two hundred and seventeen Earth Dragons. Not a single one escaped.
A satisfied smile spread across Raylo’s face as he looked at the herd of Earth Dragons before him.
The return journey was much slower than the trip there.
After all, the party now included over two hundred unruly behemoths.
Though subdued, the Earth Dragons’ wild nature was difficult to tame. They remained restless throughout the journey, constantly trying to struggle and resist.
But such minor trouble was nothing to the Giants.
If any Earth Dragon acted up, the Giant holding its rope would walk over and give it a taste of their Iron Fist.
A single punch was guaranteed to make the Earth Dragon instantly docile—more obedient than a lamb.
Under the Giants’ simple and brutal "education," the Earth Dragon Group quickly accepted their reality. They obediently followed the main party toward Black Stone Territory.
As dusk approached, the party returned to Black Stone Castle.
Raylo found Lady Martha, who was in charge of the territory’s agriculture and animal husbandry.
Lady Martha had already received Raylo’s order that morning and was leading people to expand the Earth Dragon Ranch.
They had more than tripled the size of the original Earth Dragon Ranch.
Some of the citizens were digging burrows, while others hauled fodder to fill the feeding troughs.
Earth Dragons are omnivores, but for the sake of cost, they were typically fed a mixed diet of things like fodder and wheat bran.
With the Earth Dragons settled, Raylo finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Ai Weiwei’Er had already prepared hot water and clean clothes for him.
Washing away the dust and fatigue of his expedition, Raylo changed into comfortable clothes and felt completely revived.
Dinner was a sumptuous and cozy affair.
At the long table were Avril, as well as Ed, Alex, and the other core members.
Everyone raised their glasses to celebrate the victory, the atmosphere buzzing with excitement.
With over two hundred new Earth Dragons, the territory’s Heavy Cavalry ranks had swelled in an instant.
After dinner, just as everyone was about to disperse,
a commotion suddenly erupted outside the castle.
Raylo walked out of the castle.
He saw two figures clashing fiercely on the massive training grounds outside the castle.
One was a blue figure—it was the young Thunder Dragon, Lightning.
It had now revealed its true form. Its body, dozens of meters long, was wreathed in violent blue arcs of electricity. Every whip of its tail left a trail of sparks in the air.
The other was the Storm Griffin King, Baofeng.
He was similar in size to Lightning, but thanks to his mastery of Storm Magic, his movements were far swifter and sharper.
His iron-forged wings kicked up sharp Wind Blades with every flap.
’This little guy... why is he fighting Baofeng instead of sleeping?’
Raylo couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry.
Nearby, Moonlight was sprawled lazily on a rock, watching the fight with keen interest. It even yawned from time to time, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Coal Ball, meanwhile, hid behind Moonlight, its small head peeking out to watch the fight.
"How did these two get into a fight?"
Ai Weiwei’Er asked worriedly.
"They’re just young and hot-headed."
Raylo chuckled, signaling for her not to worry.
He could tell this was not a life-and-death battle, but more like a spar, or rather, a challenge.
It was Lightning, challenging Baofeng.
Raylo had already guessed the reason. The feud between Lightning and Baofeng dated back to Eliot’s visit to Black Stone Territory.
Back then, Lightning had fought Baofeng once before. With Moonlight unfairly tipping the scales, Baofeng defeated Lightning by using the clones Moonlight had created for him.
That little dragon, Lightning, had likely held a grudge ever since. Sure enough, now that it had settled into Black Stone Territory, it was challenging Baofeng to get its revenge.
Raylo mused to himself, ’Creatures like Giant Dragons are certainly vengeful. To remember something that happened so long ago...’
Everyone walked out of the castle to the edge of the training grounds.
By now, the battle had reached a fever pitch.
As expected of the offspring of the Catastrophe Level Thunder Dragon Astra, Lightning’s bloodline was powerful.
Although it was still just a juvenile, every bolt of lightning it spat out contained astonishing power, leaving a large, charred crater wherever it struck the ground.
But Baofeng was no pushover, either.
As king of the Storm Griffin clan, Baofeng’s combat experience far surpassed Lightning’s.
His yellowish-brown Iron Feathers were incredibly tough, enough to withstand most Magic Attacks.
He could always rely on his keen instincts and vast experience to dodge Lightning’s attacks at the most critical moments, then counter with his sharp claws and beak.
For a moment, the field was a blur of flashing lightning and howling gales as the two powerful Magical Beasts fought to a standstill.
Raylo stood to the side and did not intervene.
He could see this was just a spar between the two youngsters—or more accurately, a one-sided challenge initiated by Lightning.
Although Baofeng was fighting ferociously, he wasn’t going for the kill. He was more ’teaching a lesson’ to this upstart who didn’t know its place.
As for Lightning, despite suffering repeated setbacks, the fighting spirit in its eyes only grew more intense.
It seemed to be treating this battle as a way to temper itself.
"This little one has some real backbone,"
Raylo said with a smile.
’Looks like the intel was right. The loss to Baofeng really is a sore spot for it.’
In the end, the battle concluded without a clear winner.
The two combatants tired themselves out, backing away from each other while panting heavily.
Though Lightning hadn’t won, it hadn’t lost either. It let out two defiant roars at Baofeng, as if to say, "We’ll fight again!"
Baofeng, however, just raised his head arrogantly, not even bothering to acknowledge it. He turned, flew back to his nest, and went back to sleep.
And just like that, the commotion was over.
