Chapter 510 - 400: The New Mammoth Heavy Knight Order
Chapter 510: Chapter 400: The New Mammoth Heavy Knight Order
This was a complete and utter slaughter.
In less than ten minutes, every Vampire within the cavern had been slain.
Bathed in the light of the Solar Domain, their bodies rapidly dissolved into wisps of black smoke, vanishing into thin air without a trace.
The entire cavern returned to silence once more.
With the battle over, the Sun withdrew its Domain.
With the brilliant light gone, the entire cavern was once again enveloped in the faint blue glow of the Fluorescent Stones on its ceiling.
Raylo walked to one side of the cavern, where a mountain of ore was piled high.
He reached out and picked up a piece from the ore pile.
The ore was cold to the touch, with a strange silvery-white surface that reflected a metallic luster under the faint blue light of the Fluorescent Stones.
"Silver ore."
Raylo murmured to himself.
The reserves here were even larger than he had imagined.
The piles in this cavern alone likely amounted to several thousand pounds.
In one corner stood two bamboo baskets, each half a man’s height.
The baskets were also filled with silvery-white ore.
But this ore emitted a faint, gentle halo of Magic Power.
Mithril!
Raylo’s eyes lit up.
This was the most precious thing in the entire vein!
Mithril was a top-tier material for crafting High Level Magic Equipment and Alchemy Potions. On the market, it was worth more than ten times its weight in Gold, and was often impossible to find for any price.
No wonder Baron Kailan had kept it so secret, and no wonder the Crimson Bloodline would stop at nothing to seize this place.
At the far end of the cavern was a crude dungeon.
The dungeon held over a hundred human prisoners, all of them emaciated and dressed in rags.
They huddled in filthy corners, their eyes vacant and numb, like a horde of soulless, walking corpses.
They were the "blood stock" for these Vampires.
Even the Knights, who were accustomed to the sight of life and death, couldn’t help but gasp at the wretched state of the prisoners.
"Get them all out of here and see that they’re properly settled."
Raylo suppressed the anger in his heart and said to Ed.
Raylo looked at the mountain of ore before him and gave a call.
Coal Ball opened its mouth and yawned.
Then, the two baskets of Mithril, along with the mountain of Silver Ore surrounding them, were all swallowed in a single gulp.
Back on the surface, the sun shone brightly.
The people who had been imprisoned underground all instinctively closed their eyes the moment they saw the sunlight, their faces showing a long-lost expression of excitement mixed with bewilderment.
Raylo watched them, not saying much.
He turned and spoke to Kado, who was beside him.
"Kado, seal this entrance for me."
"You got it, My Lord!"
Kado grinned. He walked to the mine entrance, took a deep breath, then lifted his foot—thicker than a water bucket—and stomped it heavily on the ground.
BOOM!
The ground trembled violently.
The building above the cave entrance instantly collapsed, completely burying the pitch-black opening.
At dusk, Raylo led the Knights back to Black Stone Castle.
The study.
Raylo spread out a sheet of fine parchment and began to write a letter to Aiden Duke.
In the letter, he described in detail the gruesome slaughter at Silver Moon Castle and the entire process of leading his troops to wipe out the Crimson Bloodline stronghold. He did not hide the matter of the Mithril mine, either.
As the Crown Prince of the Duchy, although the value of the Mithril mine was astonishing, he had no intention of seizing it for himself.
Handing this Mithril mine over to the Duchy would not only provide a huge financial boon for the state, but also allow him, the Crown Prince, to establish an impartial and selfless image in front of all the nobles.
’Calculated this way, this deal was far more profitable.’
After finishing the letter, he sealed it with wax and handed it to a Pegasus Knight, ordering him to deliver it to Thunder Dragon City with the utmost speed.
Only after all this was done did Raylo feel a wave of exhaustion wash over him.
He walked to the window, watching the setting sun as it was about to sink below the horizon, and let out a long breath.
「Several days later.」
Giant Dragon Realm, Mammoth Basin.
Giant Beast bones were scattered throughout the basin.
Raylo stood atop a massive boulder.
Beside him, Kado placed the Space Stone Wall heavily on the ground.
THUD!
The ground trembled, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Perched on Raylo’s shoulder, Coal Ball yawned, revealing its pink mouth.
It lifted a dark little paw and casually tapped the stone wall.
There was no sound, no flash of light.
The surface of the stone wall rippled like a calm pond after a pebble is tossed in, sending out invisible waves.
At the center of the ripples, space tore open into a pitch-black fissure. The fissure rapidly expanded, finally forming a spatial rift.
The heavy sound of footsteps echoed from the spatial rift, and one by one, Hill Giants emerged.
"ROAR!"
A clear, loud roar came from the depths of the basin.
The masters of this land, a Mammoth Herd, had been disturbed.
A full seventy to eighty Mammoths charged out from their habitat. They were enormous, covered in thick, long fur, their two curved tusks like sharp spearheads.
The Hill Giants’ eyes lit up at the sight of these huge creatures.
"ROAR!"
One Hill Giant roared in excitement and was the first to charge toward the Mammoth Herd, taking huge strides.
Not to be outdone, the other Giants let out their own howls and joined the charge.
In an instant, the entire basin descended into chaos.
The Hill Giants didn’t use any weapons. Against these Mammoths, their own formidable bodies were the best Weapons.
They charged into the herd, using their absolute advantage in height and Power to capture the Mammoths directly.
The Mammoths let out furious roars, struggling desperately, lashing out with their trunks and kicking with their hind legs.
But in the face of the Hill Giants’ terrifying Power, their resistance was pale and feeble.
One Hill Giant grinned widely, his hands gripping a Mammoth’s two long tusks. No matter how the Giant Beast shook its head, it couldn’t break free.
The Giant’s arm muscles bulged. With a thunderous shout, he actually lifted the Mammoth’s entire front half off the ground.
Then, he hoisted the still-struggling "trophy" onto his shoulder and walked toward the Space Stone Wall, laughing heartily.
The entire basin was a chaotic mess.
The roars of the Giants and the mournful cries of the Mammoths rose and fell in waves.
Some of the faster Giants grabbed a Mammoth in each hand by the tusks and swaggered back, looking pleased with themselves.
Other Giants set their sights on a particularly powerful Elephant King, with three or four of them surrounding it to begin a wrestling match.
The efficiency of the capture was astonishingly high.
In less than half an hour, there were very few Mammoths left standing in the basin.
When the last Mammoth had been captured and taken through the spatial rift back to Black Stone Territory, Raylo leaped down from the massive boulder and spoke to Kado.
"All right, Kado. You and Gordo take the stone wall back to the Giant City-State."
"You got it, My Lord!"
Kado grinned.
After entrusting the task of escorting the Space Stone Wall to Kado and Gordo, Raylo slipped through the spatial rift and returned to Black Stone Territory.
The moment he returned to Black Stone Castle, Raylo was taken aback by the sight before him.
The entire Black Stone Castle was now surrounded by Mammoths.
These newly captured behemoths were clearly not adjusting well to their new environment.
They were rampaging across the open ground outside the castle, letting out agitated roars.
Seventy to eighty Mammoths were crowded together, anxiously pawing at the ground, swinging their long trunks, and letting out deep, rumbling cries.
Meanwhile, the Hill Giants were now moonlighting as Elephant Shepherds.
They spread out around the herd, occasionally shoving any Mammoths that tried to run off, herding them toward a newly expanded Mammoth Ranch outside the castle that was enclosed by giant boulders.
A smile finally appeared on Raylo’s face.
With this batch of Mammoths, plus the two hundred-odd Earth Dragons added not long ago, his Heavy Knight Order was essentially formed.
Just then, a clear neigh echoed from the sky.
A Pegasus Knight broke through the clouds, diving straight for Black Stone Castle.
It was the messenger sent to the Duke.
The Duke’s reply had finally arrived.
