Chapter 755: Chapter 519: The Nine-headed Demon Serpent’s Secret and the Divine Artifact "Heart of Serenity
At the sight of this Crystal, many of the Legendary Mages present let out low gasps.
They had long since heard of this Divine Artifact’s renown.
They never imagined it had been in Mage Delin’s possession all along.
"In that case..."
Master Wendel stood up.
"Then what are we waiting for!"
"Then it’s settled!"
A glint of determination also flashed in Mage Delin’s eyes.
"The twelve Legendary Mages will march to the swamp together to slay the Demon Serpent!"
"Good!"
"Let’s do it!"
This time, no one raised any objections.
Every face was etched with grim, do-or-die determination.
Watching the scene before him unfold.
A surge of excitement welled up in Raylo’s heart.
He had originally intended only to use the Light Holy See as a borrowed blade, to test the true strength of the Nine-headed Demon Serpent.
He never expected that a twist of fate would lead to such a world-shaking, history-making event!
’Twelve Legendary Mages joining forces to slay the Half-Step World Destruction Level Nine-headed Demon Serpent!’
’What a magnificent, thrilling spectacle this would be!’
And he, Raylo, was the one who had... orchestrated it all!
’This is an absolutely incredible, unexpected windfall!’
At this thought, Raylo could no longer contain his excitement.
He took a step forward and gave a deep bow to the twelve Legendary Mages present.
"Esteemed Masters, you are willing to risk your lives for humanity and the safety of the entire world. For such magnanimity and righteousness, I, Raylo... am utterly in awe!"
His voice was filled with heartfelt admiration and gratitude.
"Tonight, you must allow me to fulfill my duties as your host and hold a farewell banquet for all of you!"
"Tomorrow morning, I will personally escort you part of the way on Ice Wind!"
Raylo spoke these words with genuine sincerity.
The Legendary Mages present couldn’t help but look at him with newfound respect.
"Very well!"
Mage Delin clapped his hands and smiled, glancing at Raylo with eyes full of approval.
"You are very thoughtful, Raylo."
"Besides, we do indeed need a little time to make some final preparations for this battle."
"Then it’s settled," Mage Delin declared.
"Tonight, we shall impose upon your hospitality for a meal. Tomorrow... will be the time for the final battle!"
...
「Night fell.」
The Lord’s Mansion was brightly lit.
A small, yet exclusive, banquet was quietly underway in the castle’s great hall.
The guests of honor were the twelve Legendary Mages, who represented the pinnacle of human power in this era.
The long dining table was filled with delicious, meticulously prepared dishes.
Tempting aromas rose from roasted meats, vibrant vegetable salads, and exquisite desserts garnished with precious Magic Fruits...
However, this did little to lighten the atmosphere in the great hall.
An invisible, heavy sense of dread hung over everyone’s heart.
Everyone knew that this might be the last peaceful dinner they would enjoy in this world.
Tomorrow, they would face a terrifying monster capable of destroying the world.
This journey would be one of near-certain death.
Or perhaps... certain death with no chance of survival.
"Esteemed Masters."
Raylo raised his crystal wine glass and stood up from his seat.
His clear gaze swept over every solemn-faced Legendary Mage present.
"I’m not good with fancy words."
"I only wish to say that the safety of the Black Stone Territory, the entire Duchy, and even the world, rests in your hands."
"With this cup, I toast to you all!"
"To the pillars of humanity!"
"To our... unyielding will!"
With that, he drained the crimson liquid in his cup in one gulp.
"Well said!"
Master Wendel was the first to respond. He, too, raised his wine glass and stood.
"To unyielding will!"
"Cheers!"
"Cheers!"
In that moment, every Legendary Mage rose to their feet and raised their glasses.
The crisp sound of clinking glasses rang out in the great hall.
The oppressive atmosphere was significantly lightened by this display of heroic spirit.
Everyone sat down and began to enjoy the dinner before them.
But everyone was somewhat absent-minded.
Their minds had already flown thousands of miles away, to that dark green swamp filled with death and the unknown.
Raylo didn’t say anything more either.
He knew that in such a heavy atmosphere, any further words would be pale and powerless.
All he could do was provide the best food and the finest wine for these heroes about to march to battle, allowing them a moment of peace before the decisive fight.
Raylo ate his food in silence, his gaze occasionally sweeping over the faces of each Legendary Mage.
He was observing.
He was observing these beings of legend, seeing their true selves in the face of a life-and-death crisis.
The hot-tempered Master Gregory was tearing into the roasted dragon leg on his plate, as if wanting to swallow all his anxiety and tension along with the food.
Master Fran swirled the wine in his glass, seemingly lost in thought and calculation.
In a corner, Mage Morpheus remained shrouded in his voluminous black robes. No one could see his expression; he merely raised his glass from time to time to take a silent sip.
Mage Nancy, meanwhile, sat quietly, using a small silver knife to meticulously slice the fruit on her plate into tiny, perfect pieces.
Each of them was facing the last night before the final battle in their own way.
"What are you thinking about?"
A gentle voice sounded by Raylo’s ear.
At some point, Mage Delin had brought his wine glass over and sat down beside him.
