Chapter 621. Changes in the Sky, the Path to Supreme Immortality

Everything that needed to be done was complete. All that remained was to wait.

Lu Yuan cleared his thoughts and focused on the two forms of Providence as they intertwined. This was a critical moment, and he could not afford any distraction.

He also wanted to understand the true nature of Providence. Both forms appeared to be connected to heaven, earth, and the universe itself. By observing their fusion, he might also confirm the path ahead in his own cultivation. He therefore intended to enter seclusion while they merged.

Even now, Lu Yuan had yet to find a way forward. Although he had reached the peak of the Celestial Seat Immortal Realm, becoming a Supreme Immortal remained extraordinarily difficult.

His plan had not changed. By studying Providence, he hoped to glimpse the path to the Supreme Immortal Realm. He had always felt that this power would offer him some insight.

As he carefully observed ordinary Providence and the Great Age's Providence, he also contemplated the Celestial Seat laws under his control. With the Bodhi Tree enhancing his comprehension, no one could match his ability to comprehend them.

Time passed, and he gradually saw and understood more. He could not expect to comprehend the path to the Supreme Immortal Realm so easily, but as long as he continued to make progress, he was in no hurry.

Elsewhere in the cosmos, two figures were rapidly approaching the Milky Way Starfield.

Their speed was astonishing. They did not even need to tear open space; a single step carried them across most of a starfield, a feat beyond even Supreme Immortals.

"If we continue forward, we will arrive at the Milky Way Starfield."

The Eternals' Starfield Lord stopped, his eyes gleaming. Though the Milky Way Starfield remained immensely distant, his gaze seemed to cross the intervening void and fall directly upon their destination.

"Then let's stop for now," the Ji Clan's Starfield Lord replied. "Begin summoning the final strength of our two clans."

Although Lu Yuan had destroyed most of the forces the Ji Clan and the Eternals had previously deployed, killing several Celestial Seat Immortals in the process, both still belonged to the top ten starfields. They would never have earned that standing if they could be destroyed so easily.

Each faction still had other forces in reserve, clansmen who represented the last of their accumulated strength.

"Good. It is time to make our preparations."

The Eternals' Starfield Lord nodded.

They had agreed on this beforehand. Neither knew Earth's current situation or who had killed their clansmen. That person could not possibly rival the two of them together, but they still had no intention of acting rashly. Before intervening themselves, they would send their clansmen to test Earth's defenses and uncover the truth.

They were already close to the Milky Way Starfield. A short delay made no difference.

Upon receiving the summons, the remaining forces of both starfields began advancing toward Earth. This would very likely be the true final battle.

Of course, no one on Earth knew this. They understood that a great calamity was coming, but not when it would arrive. Even so, everyone was preparing for it.

On Jade Emperor Peak of Mount Tai, Lu Yuan sat cross-legged. No overwhelming aura emanated from him. Aside from the purple qi coiling around him, he appeared perfectly ordinary.

However, on closer inspection, it would reveal a vast power hidden within him. It seemed to embody heaven, earth, and the universe itself, its depths impossible to fathom.

No one knew how much time passed before Lu Yuan suddenly opened his eyes.

The purple light around him also disappeared completely.

"Everything has been completed. I wonder what effect the Great Age's Providence will have after strengthening the Celestial Court."

He muttered to himself, then raised his head to look into the void.

Buzz, buzz, buzz.

Lu Yuan saw a golden edict slowly appear in the sky.

Strands of purple radiance also flowed from it.

More importantly, one name after another was inscribed upon it. This was the Investiture Edict.

Now that the Great Age's Providence had fully empowered it, the edict had manifested above Lu Yuan through the power of heaven and earth. That was only natural. The Great Age's Providence had been nurtured by this world, and Lu Yuan had bestowed it upon the Celestial Court. Its fusion with the Investiture Edict had produced an unexpected change.

Rumble!

In the next moment, a tremendous roar emerged.

Across Mount Tai and Mount Kunlun, every Celestial Court member whose true name was inscribed upon the Investiture Edict felt a tremor in their soul. A profound and mysterious sensation arose without warning, leaving them momentarily at a loss.

When they looked up, their eyes widened. Zhu Qingyu and the others saw an enormous edict hanging overhead, as did the Jiang Clan disciples. An inscrutable aura emanated from it as motes of purple light drifted down through the sky.

Their souls resonated with the edict. As the purple light settled upon them, something throbbed within each of them and a mysterious power welled forth.

Jiang Ningxian also sensed the change in heaven and earth. However, when she raised her head, she saw nothing unusual. She immediately climbed Jade Emperor Peak and found Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan was also looking into the sky. When he saw Jiang Ningxian approach, he nodded to her.

"The Great Age's Providence has already strengthened it?"

Jiang Ningxian knew Lu Yuan's plan, and the scene before her told her that he had succeeded.

"That's right." Lu Yuan nodded. He knew that because Jiang Ningxian's name was not written on the Investiture Edict, she could not see the changes between heaven and earth now.

Jiang Ningxian was not concerned about what she could not see. Instead, delight shone in her eyes. The largest and most concentrated portion of the Great Age's Providence had been bestowed upon the Celestial Court. What kind of transformation would it bring?
