Chapter 1033 - 318: Bright God 3

  • Next Chapter

At this moment.

The demon army was laying siege, with many agile demons scaling the city walls to engage in a bloody battle with the soldiers atop. Often, they would face a many-against-one situation once they climbed up, and within seconds, they would be beheaded, their bodies tossed off the walls.

Yet despite this, the demons relentlessly climbed the walls, more and more bodies falling from the heights, both of demons and humans.

Linda, under the Mage Legion’s cover, evaded the attacks of the Black Feathered Birdmen and successfully reached the Mage Legion’s position.

Awaiting her was a male mage with golden long hair and fair skin, none other than the Mage Legion’s commander, Davidlian, with pointed ears. Rumor had it their family carried the blood of ancient elves, possessing astonishing magic talent, with their line producing many powerful mages.

"Saintess, crossing the walls so impulsively was terribly dangerous. You’ve already been targeted by the demons, best stay out of perilous spots," Davidlian immediately remarked, the scene from earlier having given them quite a scare.

The outcome of this war was dependent on the divine spirits, and as the Saintess of the All Beings Sect, Linda must remain unharmed; otherwise, who would communicate with the divine spirits?

Linda realized her recklessness earlier and noted it might be better to loop around from the rear, despite taking considerably more time, then said:

"I received enlightenment from the divine spirits, knowing how to win this war."

Davidlian’s expression turned solemn, querying: "Does it require cooperation with our Mage Legion? Whatever you need, Saintess, just let us know."

Before magic flourished, humans were threatened by the Northern Barbarians, but after the Mage Legion’s emergence with legion magic, the Northern Barbarians were utterly driven back to the Land of Extreme Cold.

To them, the world seemed devoid of threats.

Then, these sinister demons appeared.

Linda pondered and said: "I can initiate a wide-ranging blessing, granting it upon each mage of the Mage Legion."

Davidlian was perplexed, asking: "What is that?"

Linda moved deeper into the position, saying succinctly: "You’ll soon find out. It should greatly amplify the power of legion magic."

The Mage Legion comprised several thousand mages, ensuring legion magic could be continuously cast.

Theoretically, this was a war machine capable of destroying anything, but faced with high magic resistance monsters was akin to firing blanks.

Linda stood at the center of the position, surrounded by mages in legion uniform, all eyes on her, curious about what the Saintess intended.

She waved her magic staff, as the blessing activated, visible white light shot skyward, reaching the clouds, expanding its range, encompassing most of the position, enveloping all mages within.

[Blessing of Truth: Enables the target of the blessing to release spells that significantly bypass magic resistance.]

This was something Su Changxing had researched, based on the world’s magic and the construction of those demons.

Only a small amount of faith was needed for the blessing to twist the essence of magic, thus bypassing magic resistance.

In essence, magic was not of high tier, and its structure was simple, reminiscent of the Extraordinary System’s appearance ten thousand versions earlier, inherently limited.

While an Extraordinary’s upper limit was Tier Three, a mage’s upper limit was approximately Tier Five.

The world’s magical civilization had developed to its zenith, yet couldn’t break free from this shackle; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been nearly annihilated by creatures unclassified even as demons.

Such changes were subtle, but each mage clearly felt their magic undergoing a revolutionary transformation.

In the battlefield, legion magic flying through the air seemed unchanged, but the damage inflicted upon the demon army was drastically different, like Linda’s previous fireball, able to easily destroy a demon’s body, yet on a larger scale, with higher release frequency.

The battlefield’s situation shifted dramatically, as the demon army’s advance halted in the face of legion magic bombardment, dying in droves before reaching the walls.

One colossal demon elephant after another was a natural target, specially attended to, skinned and battered under lightning onslaughts, falling one by one along the charge line.

"Perhaps this is what magic should truly be like." Linda gazed at the battlefield scene afar, involuntarily sighing.

The soldiers atop the walls were equally shocked, witnessing the previously dominating demon army fleeing in all directions under legion magic bombardment.
