Chapter 906 - 258: Ghost-locking Land
"Disappeared?" Sean froze for a moment, seeing that Demon suddenly vanish into Su Changxing’s body—it looked more like that Demon had been absorbed.
Inside, he felt an overwhelming shock: a Calamity Level Demon had actually been taken care of by Su Changxing that easily. You had to know this thing was called the embodiment of Terror; running into it basically meant a one-way ticket to death.
Su Changxing stood up, patted the dust off himself, and said casually, "Let’s keep going."
For him now, dealing with a Tier Five Demon like that basically carried no danger. It was only because of this special world that he had to go through extra steps; outside, he could suppress it far more effortlessly.
Sean stepped forward, looking left and right, and failed to find any trace of that Calamity Level Demon. Then he asked:
"Where’s the Demon? Dead? That was a Calamity Level Demon, something that can wipe out any world."
Even for human Tier Five Extraordinarys, generally speaking, facing a Demon of that level meant they were completely outclassed. At the same tier, humans were usually the weaker side.
His attitude toward Su Changxing was totally different now, filled with deep reverence. He felt he’d probably run into some kind of indescribable existence.
Su Changxing shook his head and said, "Not yet, but I’ve already got it under control. Are there any other Calamity Level Demons nearby?"
Sean thought for a moment, then quickly said, "Basically every area on the third layer has a Celestial Calamity Demon, but I’m not clear on their exact locations."
Su Changxing nodded, gentle and restrained, and said, "Then we’ll look for these Celestial Calamity Demons on the way. Consider it doing the people a favor."
Sean’s expression turned serious as he said, "The deeper in we go, the stronger these Demons get."
Shen Jinxuan’s pupils turned deep blue. She said impatiently, "You talk too damn much. Just lead the way."
Sean arched a brow, only then realizing that something was off about the woman standing beside him. Her aura and Spirit State shifted in an instant—like... a lunatic.
Then he glanced again at Su Changxing, whose face intermittently showed a polite smile, looking refined and gentle. Suddenly he felt their expressions had a faint similarity. His scalp prickled as he realized the two people he’d met were not normal at all—but at this point there was no way back.
Su Changxing noticed that Sean’s reaction was off, but didn’t pay it much mind. His thoughts were on that Blazing White Demon.
When he dragged that Demon into the Pocket Galaxy, a prompt popped up on his phone: he could use five living Tier Five Demons as advancement materials.
Once a Demon was dragged into the Pocket Galaxy, the Discount Shop defaulted to treating it as captured. That roughly meant that inside the Pocket Galaxy, Demons of this level had absolutely no ability to resist!
Given that, for him, boosting his power was the most urgent thing.
The ninth advancement would further heighten his strength, and the boost would definitely be significant.
If it weren’t for being in a world infested with Demons like this, in any other place, trying to find five Calamity Level Demons would be next to impossible. You’d have to go to some Demon‑swarmed world, but that would absolutely put you in a deadly situation.
A powerful Demon could rival a Divine Spirit; odds are some Divine Spirits were Demons to begin with.
"Demon" was a broad term, used to describe most Chaos lifeforms, distinct from Order life. They generally possessed immense Life Force.
Their objective changed: first hunt Celestial Calamity Demons, then head to the fourth layer. Their route shifted accordingly.
Sean led the way east. They crossed a red Long Bridge, and on the far side the paving stones turned dark red, each tile etched with a different pattern.
"Is that a goat?"
Shen Jinxuan lowered her head, making out that the pattern on the tile underfoot was roughly a twisted depiction of a goat. It didn’t really look like a goat, yet somehow clearly conveyed that it was one.
Sean’s expression tightened; he looked very nervous as he muttered in a low voice:
"Rumor has it that every tile in this area Imprisons a soul. That Demon seals its prey’s souls into these tiles."
Shen Jinxuan showed a surprised look. "Then why is there a goat?"
Sean answered with some certainty, "Probably a pet it brought along."
"A pet?"
"Yeah, a pet."
Su Changxing did indeed sense flickers of souls within these tiles, so what Sean said was probably close to the truth—though the details still needed verification.
He glanced at Sean and shook his head. "If that’s really the case, how many people must have died here? There shouldn’t be that many people on the third layer to begin with, right?"
Sean himself had only heard this second‑hand, and wasn’t too sure. "Maybe this place has existed for a very long time. These souls can’t have wandered here on their own."
They hadn’t walked far before they saw a Wooden Token stuck by the roadside, dilapidated and falling apart. It looked like someone had used paint to scribble a few crooked characters on it—Ghost-locking Land.
Just looking at those characters made the surroundings feel colder, as if the temperature had dropped by a dozen degrees out of nowhere. A faint ghostly green glow seeped up from the gaps between the tiles, like there was another world down below.
Staring at the ramshackle Wooden Token, Shen Jinxuan couldn’t help shuddering, instinctively edging closer to Su Changxing. "So this place is called Ghost-locking Land?"
Sean fixed his eyes on that broken Wooden Token as well, dazed and puzzled. "I’ve been here more than once, and this thing was never here before. Who stuck it in?"
Just as he was about to go up and take a look, the crisp clatter of chains dragging over stone rang out. A tall silhouette slowly approached from straight ahead, a mass of ghostly Soul Rings swirling around it, death‑energy almost congealing into substance and drifting through the air.
"More people coming? That’s rare."
The voice was thick with death, the kind that made you feel like it could keel over any moment.
This Demon’s level of rationality was beyond imagination; it felt not much different from an ordinary human.
"That Bai Huo guy’s gone missing. Were you the one who killed him?"
Underneath the wrappings, an eye identical to a human’s showed through—except it was set smack in the middle of its forehead.
Su Changxing’s face broke into a faint smile. He’d just been annoyed about not finding this thing, and here it was coming to die on its own. Saved him the trouble.
Bang~
Without wasting words, Su Changxing drew his revolver and fired. The bullet flared like starlight, punched through the Demon’s body, and tore through the bandages on its skin.
The Demon was clearly startled. It backpedaled while shouting, "What the hell, you don’t even talk first? Just attack out of nowhere? Can’t we at least have a chat?"
Su Changxing’s body blurred into an afterimage as he closed in and fired another shot, chuckling, "No rush. We’ll have plenty of time to chat in a bit."
This time.
The Demon whipped the chains on its body, batting the bullet aside. Its Speed dropped noticeably, making it look like some poor maiden about to be defiled, pitiful to the extreme. It was just about to say something when Su Changxing clamped a hand down on its shoulder—and then it saw another world. It tried to struggle but couldn’t resist at all, and was dragged right in.
"Hello there, Brother Bai Huo, didn’t think you’d be here too." The Demon greeted the Blazing White Demon beside it, sounding a bit embarrassed. It finally understood how the Blazing White Demon had suddenly disappeared.
"Awooo~"
The Blazing White Demon’s face shifted into that of a fox, baring its teeth and roaring at him.
