Chapter 485 - 224: The Hero Race, Part 2

He was genuinely confused. The other was from the Undead Race, while he was from the Hero Race. In a sense, they were enemies. The Undead Race wasn’t native to the Otherworld; they had invaded from another world, and the Hero Race existed to protect the Otherworld.

Li Ziyu, of course, knew nothing about the relationship between the two Races. It was his first time even hearing of the Hero Race. He just shrugged nonchalantly and said to Damenevsky, "Someone told me that Void Creatures are our common enemy, and I happen to agree. Besides, I don’t think a true Warrior should die so casually here."

The answer seemed to catch Damenevsky by surprise. He had assumed Li Ziyu had some ulterior motive but never expected a reply like this. After a moment’s thought, he nodded. "I didn’t really need the help, but thank you for lending a hand. Thanks."

Li Ziyu waved his hand, indicating it was nothing. This was the Void Land, after all; people like them should look out for each other.

Damenevsky held back, then held back again, but finally couldn’t resist asking the question on his mind. "You... are a Human, right?"

Li Ziyu froze for a moment before looking down at himself. ’Is it not obvious that I’m Human?’ he thought. After confirming that everything seemed to be in order, he nodded to Damenevsky and said, "Yeah, I’m Human."

Damenevsky then asked, "The pure-blooded kind of Human, right?"

Li Ziyu replied without hesitation, "Pure. Head to toe. Never been modified. All-original parts, straight from the factory. Couldn’t be purer."

’Purer than you, anyway,’ Li Ziyu added in his head. In his eyes, Damenevsky probably wasn’t some pure-blooded Human. He was absurdly strong.

’I mean, seriously, can a pure-blooded Human really take down a creature like a Void Beetle with just an axe?’

’That was pure physical Power. No matter how you look at it, it’s not realistic, right? Not even with training.’

Damenevsky glanced at the surrounding Undead and asked, puzzled, "Then how did you become the Master of the Undead? Shouldn’t the Master of the Undead also be one of the Undead? Did you sign some kind of contract with them?"

"Erm... that’s a long story." Li Ziyu smacked his lips, unsure how to explain to the burly man before him that he was a Transmigrator. He himself didn’t even know how he had become the Master of the Undead.

"You can make the long story short," Damenevsky said seriously. It was clear he really wanted to know why a Human could become the Master of the Undead.

"I became the Master of the Undead," Li Ziyu said, looking into Damenevsky’s eyes with the utmost seriousness.

’Short enough for you?’

Damenevsky was suddenly at a loss for words. ’Damn it, when I told you to keep it short, I meant for you to *explain*, not just state the final result!’

His comprehension skills were truly one of a kind. And you couldn’t even say he was wrong—that *was* the final result of it all.

Seeing Damenevsky’s constipated expression, Li Ziyu was amused. Now it was his turn to ask questions. "You’re not from this world, are you? How did you get here?"

Damenevsky was much more forthcoming than Li Ziyu. He didn’t hide anything and told him, "I came through a Spatial Rift. I’m here for training."

Li Ziyu blinked. That wasn’t the answer he was expecting. He had assumed Damenevsky had ended up here by accident, too. But from the looks of it, his arrival had been intentional. "And you were sure you’d make it here through that Spatial Rift? Not get thrown off course into the Void, or sucked into a Void storm?"

Damenevsky shook his head. "I wasn’t sure."

Li Ziyu: ...

’That sounds completely unreliable,’ Li Ziyu thought. ’How is that training? That’s just playing with your life, isn’t it? If you were exiled into the Void or ran into a Void storm, what kind of damn training would that be? You’d be totally screwed!’

"Are all you from the Hero Race this reckless?" Li Ziyu asked, looking at Damenevsky speechlessly.

Damenevsky raised his arm, his muscles bulging, and laughed heartily. "We have Power!"

Li Ziyu rolled his eyes. ’Talking to this guy is exhausting,’ he thought. ’We’re not even on the same wavelength. Is this really about Power? What good is Power if you’re exiled to the Void? You can’t come back from that.’

He suddenly thought of something else and couldn’t help but ask, "You said you came here for training. How do you plan on getting back? Do you have a Void Crystal?"

’Damenevsky said he came for training, so maybe he really does have a Void Crystal,’ Li Ziyu thought. ’He has to get back, after all. If Damenevsky has a Void Crystal, maybe I could borrow it...’

Li Ziyu’s hopes were getting ahead of him. He just watched Damenevsky shake his head and say, "I can return through a Spatial Rift. I don’t need a Void Crystal."

"Er... does that mean if you don’t find a Spatial Rift, you’ll be trapped here forever and can’t go back?" Li Ziyu said, his eyes wide.

"Do you need to ’find’ a Spatial Rift?" Damenevsky asked in return.

Li Ziyu scratched his head. ’Is this guy even speaking sense? Can anyone understand him? What do you do if you don’t ’find’ one? Make a Spatial Rift yourself? How? By shattering the Void with brute force?’

’This conversation is impossible,’ Li Ziyu thought. ’You’re bragging on a whole other level. I can’t keep up.’

Damenevsky seemed to see through Li Ziyu’s thoughts and asked in surprise, "You’re already the Master of the Undead, and you still need to wait for a naturally occurring Spatial Rift?"

Li Ziyu’s mouth twitched. He said irritably, "What a novel idea. If I don’t wait, what am I supposed to do? Create a Spatial Rift myself?"
