To his surprise, Damenevsky actually nodded and said, "That’s right."

’Like hell it is!’

’What am I supposed to use to open a Void rift?!’

’Do you even have a brain? Is your head just full of muscle? Do you have any idea what a Void rift is? It’s a tear in the space between two worlds! To create a rift like that, how much Power would I need?!’

"You don’t believe me?" Damenevsky asked with a frown, watching Li Ziyu’s expression darken.

Li Ziyu slowly shook his head. ’If you’re going to bullshit like this, I’m not going to play along.’

’Like hell I’ll believe you unless you show me some proof!’

Damenevsky stared at Li Ziyu, who stared right back. After a long moment, Damenevsky let out a breath, shrugged, and said, "Fine, don’t believe me then."

Li Ziyu didn’t plan to press the issue. They had only just met, so there was no need to be so serious about it. ’If he wants to brag, let him brag. It’s no skin off my back.’

After some thought, Li Ziyu asked, "Want to come over to my place for a bit?"

Hearing this, Damenevsky looked up at the nearby Fortress and tilted his head. "There? I can go up?"

Damenevsky was very confident in his combat abilities. He wasn’t the least bit scared even when surrounded by the Undead. His long experience in battle allowed him to sense the strength of the Undead around him. To be honest, only the horse-riding Knights and the ones in black armor posed a slight threat. He couldn’t care less about the other Skeletons, no matter how many there were.

He had actually wanted to check out the Undead Fortress, but since the other party hadn’t brought it up, he felt it would be inappropriate to ask. Now that he’d been invited, it was perfect.

Li Ziyu nodded. "Yep. That’s my city. Come on over, we can chat."

Damenevsky was curious about the Undead Fortress, while Li Ziyu was curious about Damenevsky. The combat prowess of the Human before him was beyond his imagination, and he wanted to learn more about the Hero Race.

"Alright! Lead the way," Damenevsky said readily, striding forward.

Li Ziyu and Damenevsky walked side-by-side, with the others following behind. They passed through a path formed by the Black Knights and headed toward the Undead Fortress.

Arriving at the base of the Undead Fortress, Damenevsky looked up and marveled internally. He never expected the Undead Race’s architecture to be like this. It easily rivaled Human cities and was even more magnificent than the capitals of many small Kingdoms.

With Li Ziyu by his side, no Undead dared to interfere. Just like that, Damenevsky boldly ascended the Undead Fortress.

He made small talk with Li Ziyu while observing his surroundings. Undead were everywhere, not so different from a Human city. The biggest difference was probably the architecture; its unique style gave him a novel sensation.

Architecture is one of the hallmarks of a Race’s civilization. You can discern some of a Race’s characteristics from its architectural style. Gothic architecture, for example, is very representative.

The buildings on the Undead Fortress, however, were mostly constructed from bone. Even though they had been renovated when the structure was upgraded to a Fortress, this fact didn’t escape Damenevsky’s notice.

Logically speaking, buildings made of bone should inspire a sense of dread and fear. They should appear grim and terrifying. No matter how grand the construction, it should still evoke that feeling—the instinctive fear the living have of death.

But the surrounding buildings gave Damenevsky a different feeling entirely. It wasn’t the kind of fear that came from the heart. Instead, it was solemnity, dignity, stability, and grandeur. The feeling was like... a Divine Hall. Yes, exactly the feeling of a Divine Hall.

This gave him a strange sense of dissonance.

The Undead Race was one of the quintessential representations of death, yet their architecture failed to evoke that feeling. Instead, it gave off the impression of a Divine Hall. It was strange, yet somehow, it made perfect sense.
