Global PvP Tower: I Can Infinitely Merge My Units

Chapter 100: Dark Fall Conquest (6)

Wave thirty-one broke the field’s rhythm the instant the horn sounded, a hundred separate blasts rolling out at once instead of the usual staggered warning.

```
[ Wave 31: Incoming. Legendary-rank herds, increased density and count. ]
```

Ashfang Marauders poured out of the treeline in packs of a dozen instead of three or four, black-furred and lean, jaws built for tearing through armor rather than flesh.

Alice met the first wave of them alone, Starflow Arts humming faintly along every shot, and felt the difference immediately.

’More of them. Bigger packs. Less room to breathe between waves.’ She thinned the nearest cluster before it closed the last stretch of ground. ’This is where it actually starts costing something.’

```
[ Wave 31 cleared. +620 points. ]
```

Two towers over, a voice cracked sharp and desperate across the open field, carrying further than it should have.

"Someone! Anyone! We’re out of potions, half of us are wounded, we can’t hold this line much longer!"

Logan heard it from three towers away, Grim Lock already catching the direction of the voice before he’d fully decided to move.

---

The waves that followed hit harder than anything the event had thrown before, and the cracks started showing fast.

Players who’d coasted through the first thirty waves on stockpiled potions and careful play found both running out at once, Legendary-rank herds chewing through resources twice as fast as anyone had budgeted for.

Voices rose across the field in ones and twos at first, then in clusters, towers calling for help to neighbors who’d spent the last thirty waves treating each other as rivals rather than allies.

Some towers answered. Others couldn’t afford to.

Logan answered every single one he could reach, Grim Lock snapping onto a fresh target and Reaper’s Stride delivering him there before most defenders even finished the sentence asking for help.

He found a lone elven archer down to her last arrow at one tower, cleared her wave in two strikes, and left before she’d finished stammering out thanks.

He found a pair of human twins at another, both bleeding from wounds their potions could no longer close, and burned through half a Legendary-rank pack before either of them managed to catch their breath.

’This isn’t about score anymore.’ The thought settled clean and simple somewhere behind his ribs, no second-guessing attached to it. ’People are actually dying out here.’

Grim Siphoning Edge kept his MP climbing steadily through all of it, every strike that carried real magic feeding straight back into his reserves, and for a long stretch he genuinely believed nothing about this pace could touch him.

Then he glanced at his status window mid-swing and felt something colder settle in.

```
[ Reaper’s Stride: 640 stacks. Speed +4,480%. ]
```

’Already this high.’ He slowed his next strike on purpose, letting the timer tick past five seconds without landing another hit. ’Not again. Not like the mountain. Not like the Hive.’

He remembered exactly what came after the number climbed too far without him choosing to stop it, bones cracking under strain his toughness couldn’t keep pace with, his whole body shutting down for one full second while Elder Rishin fished him out of a pond.

He remembered the Hive too, his shoulder cracking on impact with a living wall, his body screaming while his mind stayed calm and cold and utterly unwilling to listen.

’Fifty waves. Not one climactic swing.’ He rolled the thought over deliberately, forcing himself to actually believe it instead of just thinking it. ’I need my body intact for all of them, not just this one.’

From then on, he paced himself on purpose. He let the stack decay a little between fights instead of chaining every single strike as fast as his reflexes allowed.

He watched the number climb and held it there, rather than letting it run wherever momentum wanted to take it.

---

Alice didn’t have the luxury of anyone else’s tower to lean on, and she’d stopped wanting one anyway.

She held her line through wave after wave, Starpiercer Volley and Radiant Snare doing the bulk of the work, Comet Step keeping her clear of anything that closed too fast for a clean shot.

Somewhere around wave thirty-three, an idea started forming that had nothing to do with any skill she already owned.

’Arrows just fly straight. What if they didn’t have to?’ She turned the thought over between shots, watching one bounce off a particularly thick hide instead of punching through clean. ’What if they drilled instead?’

She tried it on the next shot, drawing the string back with a slight twist through her fingers instead of a clean pull, a thread of MP bleeding into the arrow’s shaft right as she released it.

The arrow spun once through the air, a tight, fast rotation barely visible to the eye. It punched through the same thick hide that had deflected the last one clean.

"Huh." She stared at the exit wound a full second longer than the kill actually warranted. "That worked."

She practiced it through the rest of the wave, refining the twist in her wrist and the exact moment to feed MP into the spin. She weighed the balance between speed lost to the technique and penetration gained from it.

By wave thirty-five, she could do it without thinking, every arrow leaving her bow with a faint corkscrew hum that dropped hides and shields alike a fraction easier than before.

```
[ Waves 33 through 35 cleared. +2,340 points. ]
```

It still wasn’t enough.

’This is a trick. A good one, but a trick.’ She lowered her bow between kills, chest heaving, watching the leaderboard flash a name that wasn’t hers at the top yet again.

’Logan didn’t get stronger from a trick. He got stronger because something in him woke up and decided to stay awake.’

She thought about Sword Intent, about seventeen percent becoming twenty-eight in a single fight because Logan had finally understood something deep enough to change what he was.

’I want that.’ The want burned clean and simple, no hesitation attached to it at all. ’Not a technique. Not a trick. Something that actually belongs to me.’

She didn’t know how to force a talent awake. Nobody did, not really, not on command.

But she started trying anyway, holding the intention behind every shot a little longer. She focused on the exact moment an arrow left her string as if it mattered more than anything else in the world.

Wave thirty-six came and went, faster and meaner than the last. Then thirty-seven, matching pace. Then thirty-eight, harder than both combined, three separate Legendary-rank casters testing her line at once before her spinning arrows finally wore through their shields.

She didn’t stop trying between kills.

```
[ Wave 39: Incoming. Legendary-rank bosses, multiple per tower. ]
```

Three shapes broke from the treeline toward Alice’s tower instead of the usual one, tall and armored in bone-white plating, twin blades crossed over each chest in a formation too precise to be coincidence.

```
They advanced in a tight line, shoulder to shoulder, clearly built to punch through a single point of resistance rather than spread out and overwhelm one.
Alice’s eyes narrowed, tracking the formation. ’They’re stacked. If I could just hit through all three at once instead of one at a time.’
She drew back further than she ever had, MP bleeding into the arrow’s spin at a rate that made her fingers ache from holding the draw that long.
’I will make my arrows stronger in any way I can.’
