Chapter 393 - 27: Ancient Technology
Chapter 393: Chapter 27: Ancient Technology
"Ye Yun, we’ve made a major discovery! The ancient technology documented in this book can not only fight the mutated creatures, but it might even be able to restore life to this wasteland!" the head of the research team reported excitedly to Ye Yun.
Hearing this news, everyone in the shelter cheered with joy. They saw a glimmer of hope, which further strengthened their convictions.
Under Ye Yun’s leadership, the shelter poured all its resources into researching and applying the ancient technology. Meanwhile, Bena and his patrol team continued to stand guard, protecting the shelter’s safety while also looking forward to the next expedition, hoping it would bring more surprises and hope.
In this world full of danger and challenges, the people of the shelter relied on their unity, courage, and wisdom to walk step-by-step toward a brighter future. They believed that as long as they persevered, they could surely uncover all the secrets of this wasteland, create a better world, and bring life and vitality back to this desolate land. As their research into the ancient books deepened, the people of the shelter gradually mastered some effective methods for combating the mutated creatures and preliminary techniques for improving the environment with ancient technology. However, they were also keenly aware that the road ahead was still fraught with the unknown and new challenges.
After a short rest, Bena’s patrol team received a new mission. This time, they were to head to a more distant region where some abnormal energy fluctuations had been detected. These fluctuations might be related to more clues about the ancient civilization and its technology.
Before they departed, Ye Yun and Bena had an in-depth conversation.
"Bena, this mission is crucial. We don’t know what we’ll encounter out there, but I believe in your team’s ability and courage," Ye Yun said with a serious expression.
"Don’t worry, Ye Yun. We’ll be careful and do our absolute best to complete the mission and bring back more valuable information for the shelter," Bena replied resolutely.
"Good. Stay safe. If you run into danger, don’t take any unnecessary risks. Report back to the shelter immediately," Ye Yun said, patting Bena’s shoulder.
"Understood!" Bena responded with a nod.
The patrol team once again set off on a journey into the unknown. Along the way, they crossed barren deserts, rugged mountains, and dense forests. The team members supported each other, overcoming one difficulty after another.
While passing through a dense forest, they were ambushed by some small mutated creatures. These creatures were fast and venomous.
"Everyone, be careful! Don’t let them bite you!" Bena shouted to his team.
The team members quickly spread out, formed a defensive perimeter, and fought back with their weapons.
"These things are tougher to deal with than the ones we’ve faced before," one of the members yelled.
"Stay calm! Aim for their weak spots!" Bena commanded coolly.
After a fierce battle, the patrol team successfully repelled the mutated creatures, but a few members sustained minor injuries.
"Everyone, check your gear and your wounds. We’ll rest for a bit and then move on," Bena said.
The team members tended to their wounds and checked their equipment. After a short break, they continued toward the target area.
At last, they arrived at the location where the abnormal energy fluctuations had been detected. It was a field of ruins. What might have once been a bustling city was now nothing but rubble and crumbling walls.
"Something feels different here. Everyone, stay sharp," Bena said in a low voice.
The team members searched cautiously through the ruins. Suddenly, one of them discovered a hidden underground entrance.
"Captain, look over here!" the team member shouted.
Bena walked over and examined the entrance carefully. "This probably leads to the place we’re looking for. Let’s head in. Be careful."
The team members descended slowly along a narrow passage filled with a musty smell. After a while, they arrived in a spacious subterranean chamber.
The chamber was filled with all sorts of strange instruments and devices. Some were still flickering with a faint light, indicating they were somehow still operational.
"Whoa, what is this place?" a team member said in amazement.
"Looks like an ancient laboratory or research base," Bena guessed.
Just as they were about to explore further, an alarm blared through the chamber. Immediately after, several defense mechanisms activated, firing beams of energy at the patrol team.
"Take cover!" Bena yelled.
The team members quickly ducked behind nearby equipment and walls, dodging the energy beams.
"We have to find a way to shut down these defenses, or this will get dangerous," Bena said.
The team members began to scan their surroundings, looking for a way to disable the defense system. After some searching, they finally found a control terminal.
"I’ll see if I can shut it down," said a team member who was skilled with technology.
He cautiously approached the control terminal and began to work on it. After a few tense minutes, the alarm finally fell silent, and the defense system ceased its attack.
"Great, it worked!" the team members cheered.
Afterward, they began to carefully examine the instruments and equipment in the subterranean chamber. Although there was much they didn’t understand, they collected as much information and as many samples as possible, preparing to take them back to the shelter for the research team to analyze.
During their exploration, they also found some record files about the ancient civilization and its technology. Although the files were partially damaged, they still provided several important clues.
