Chapter 410: Chapter 4-2
Li Xiao was also captivated by the sight before them. "It’s simply incredible. Look at these Terracotta Warriors. Every single one is so lifelike, as if they could spring to life at any moment."
They walked slowly along the edge of the pit, carefully observing the expressions and postures of each warrior. Some had stern expressions, as if preparing for battle; others wore faint smiles, seemingly full of confidence for the future.
"Old Li, how do you think the ancient artisans managed to make these Terracotta Warriors so realistic?" Huang Pengfei asked curiously.
"This is the wisdom of the ancients. They used their consummate skill and immense patience to create such a miracle," Li Xiao said with feeling.
After leaving Pit 1, they went on to Pit 2 and Pit 3. Each pit had its own unique characteristics, offering them a true feast for the eyes.
"This trip was so worth it!" Huang Pengfei exclaimed.
"Yeah, it really was. These Terracotta Warriors aren’t just artistic treasures; they’re witnesses to history," Li Xiao said.
After touring the Terracotta Warriors site, the two of them were getting hungry. They decided to go try some of Xi’an’s famous cuisine.
"I’ve heard Xi’an’s crumbled flatbread in lamb stew is famous. Let’s go give it a try," Li Xiao suggested.
"Yeah, yeah! I’ve been wanting to try it for ages," Huang Pengfei said eagerly.
They found a time-honored local restaurant specializing in crumbled flatbread in lamb stew. After sitting down, they ordered two servings. Before long, the steaming bowls were placed on their table.
"Wow, that smell... it’s incredible," Huang Pengfei said, taking a deep breath.
Li Xiao picked up his chopsticks and stirred the contents of his bowl. "Come on, dig in."
Huang Pengfei picked up a piece of the soaked bread and put it in his mouth, savoring it. "Mmm, the lamb is tender and juicy, and the bread is nice and chewy. This is delicious!"
Li Xiao also took a bite and nodded in approval. "It really is good. Xi’an’s cuisine definitely lives up to its reputation."
After finishing the crumbled flatbread in lamb stew, they tried some of Xi’an’s other specialties, like meat-stuffed buns and cold skin noodles. Each dish was absolutely unforgettable.
After their meal, they made their way to Xi’an’s Ancient City Wall. At night, the Ancient City Wall was brilliantly lit, giving it a unique charm.
"This Ancient City Wall is magnificent!" Huang Pengfei said, gazing up at it.
"Yeah, it’s a testament to the wisdom of the ancient laborers. Come on, let’s go for a walk on top," Li Xiao said, pulling Huang Pengfei toward the ramparts.
Standing on the wall, they looked out over the whole of Xi’an City, which was brightly lit and bustling with traffic.
"Old Li, Xi’an is so beautiful," Huang Pengfei said with emotion.
"Mhm. This ancient city has both the weight of history and the vitality of a modern metropolis," Li Xiao said.
After strolling on the Ancient City Wall for a while, they went to see a Qinqiang opera performance. The passionate singing and spectacular show gave them a true taste of Xi’an’s cultural charm.
"This Qinqiang opera is really powerful!" Huang Pengfei said excitedly.
"It is. It’s part of Xi’an’s traditional culture. Very unique," Li Xiao said.
After the performance, they started shopping for local specialties. Miniature models of the Terracotta Warriors and shadow puppets are famous souvenirs in Xi’an. They picked out a few things they liked to bring back as gifts for friends and family.
"Old Li, we really got a lot out of this trip to Xi’an," Huang Pengfei said, holding his full bags.
"Mhm. We didn’t just see the magnificent Terracotta Warriors, we also tasted the food, watched a folk performance, and bought souvenirs. Now, it’s time for our next destination," Li Xiao said.
Shouldering their bags and filled with anticipation, Li Xiao and Huang Pengfei arrived in Zhangjiajie. As soon as they entered the city, they were captivated by the beautiful mountain peaks surrounding them.
"Hey, Old Li, the mountains in Zhangjiajie are so strange! They’re completely different from any mountains we’ve ever seen," Huang Pengfei said excitedly.
Li Xiao gazed at the distant peaks, his eyes full of anticipation. "Yeah. I’ve long heard about Zhangjiajie’s bizarre peaks and stones, and seeing them today, they really live up to the hype. Come on, let’s hurry to the scenic area."
They boarded a shuttle bus and headed toward the core scenic area. As they drew closer, the spectacular landscape gradually unfolded before them.
"Whoa, this is unbelievably beautiful!" Huang Pengfei couldn’t help but exclaim as he looked out the window.
Bizarre peaks stood like a forest, wreathed in clouds and mist, making it feel as though they had entered a fairyland. The bus wound its way along the mountain road, with each turn revealing a new and surprising view.
When they finally arrived at the entrance, the two eagerly went inside. The first thing that greeted them was Golden Whip Stream. Its water was crystal clear, babbling as it flowed. The trees along its banks were lush and full of life.
"Old Li, look how clear the water is! And these trees are so lush," Huang Pengfei said as they walked.
"Mhm, the ecosystem here is incredible. Walking by this stream just makes you feel so relaxed," Li Xiao replied.
They strolled along Golden Whip Stream, admiring the beautiful scenery. From time to time, they would spot cute little animals playing by the water’s edge.
"Hey, look at that little monkey! It’s so clever!" Huang Pengfei said, pointing to one in the distance.
Li Xiao smiled. "The animals and nature coexist in harmony here. It’s truly a beautiful picture."
After passing Golden Whip Stream, they began the climb up to Yuanjiajie. The peaks in Yuanjiajie were even more precipitous and had all sorts of different shapes. Some were like swords piercing the clouds, while others stood like unyielding giants.
"Old Li, this mountain is so high! My legs feel like jelly from all the climbing," Huang Pengfei said, panting.
"Keep going. Persistence is victory. The view from the top will definitely be even more spectacular," Li Xiao encouraged him.
After much effort, they finally reached the viewing platform at Yuanjiajie. From there, they could take in the entire beautiful landscape of Zhangjiajie. The bizarre peaks and stones appeared and disappeared in the mist, looking just like a celestial realm.
"Wow, this is literally heaven on earth!" Huang Pengfei was so excited he almost jumped for joy.
Li Xiao was also stunned by the scene before him. "It’s too beautiful. Nature’s divine craftsmanship is truly awe-inspiring."
After spending some time in Yuanjiajie, they went on to Emperor Mountain. The scenery at Emperor Mountain was just as magnificent, and it was also rich in history and culture.
"Old Li, do you think an emperor really used to live here?" Huang Pengfei asked curiously.
"Haha, that’s just a legend. But the scenery here certainly has a majestic aura," Li Xiao said with a laugh.
They admired the beautiful scenery on Emperor Mountain, soaking in the historical atmosphere. Before they knew it, the day had passed.
After touring the scenic area, their stomachs were growling. They decided to go sample Zhangjiajie’s local food.
"I’ve heard Zhangjiajie’s three-delicacy pot is famous. Let’s go try it," Li Xiao suggested.
"Yeah, yeah! My mouth’s been watering for it," Huang Pengfei said eagerly.
They found a local restaurant and ordered a three-delicacy pot. In no time, the fragrant dish was brought to their table.
"Wow, that smells amazing," Huang Pengfei said, taking a deep sniff.
Li Xiao picked up a piece of meat with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. "Mmm, the flavor is rich. It’s spicy and savory. Delicious!"
Huang Pengfei also took a bite and nodded in praise. "It really is good. Zhangjiajie’s food definitely has its own unique character."
After finishing the three-delicacy pot, they also tried some of Zhangjiajie’s other specialties, like kudzu root noodles and Tujia cured meat. Each dish was unforgettable.
After dinner, they went to a folk performance venue in Zhangjiajie. A Tujia song and dance show was underway. The performers, dressed in vibrant ethnic costumes, were singing and dancing in a lively spectacle.
"This show is amazing!" Huang Pengfei said, applauding.
"It is. This is Zhangjiajie’s folk culture. It’s very charming," Li Xiao said.
After watching the folk performance, they started shopping for local specialties. Kudzu root powder and cured meat are famous products from Zhangjiajie. They picked out a few things they liked to bring back as gifts for friends and family.
"Old Li, we really got a lot out of this trip to Zhangjiajie," Huang Pengfei said, carrying his full bags.
"Mhm. We didn’t just see the beautiful scenery, we also tasted the food, watched a folk performance, and bought souvenirs. Now, it’s time for our next destination," Li Xiao said.
