Chapter 411: Chapter 5: Coastal City and Ancient Town

Full of anticipation, they arrived in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao. As soon as they stepped out of the station, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of the ocean washed over them, instantly refreshing their spirits.

"Whoa, Old Li, Qingdao is really something else! Just smelling this sea breeze has put me in a better mood," Huang Pengfei said, spreading his arms wide to fully embrace the fresh air.

Li Xiao smiled and nodded. "You’re right. Qingdao is a city full of romance. Come on, let’s go check out the seaside first."

The two of them walked along the street toward the sea, the sound of the waves accompanying them the whole way. It was as if the sound was calling to them. Before long, they arrived at Zhanqiao Pier.

"Hey, Old Li, look at this pier! It’s so long, stretching all the way out into the sea!" Huang Pengfei exclaimed, running excitedly onto the structure.

Li Xiao followed close behind. "Yeah. From up here, we can get a better view of the ocean."

They stood at the end of the pier, gazing out at the boundless sea. Waves crashed endlessly against the rocks below, sending up sprays of white foam. In the distance, a few fishing boats drifted slowly across the water, and seagulls occasionally soared through the sky.

"This view is so beautiful. It really puts you at ease," Huang Pengfei said with a sigh of contentment.

"It does. The sea in Qingdao has a unique charm," Li Xiao said, pulling Huang Pengfei toward the beach. "Come on, let’s go for a walk on the sand."

The golden sand of the beach was fine and soft, dotted with tourists playing and having fun. They kicked off their shoes and stepped onto the warm sand.

"Old Li, this sand feels amazing," Huang Pengfei said with a laugh as they walked.

"Haha, you’re right. We can rest here for a bit and just enjoy the moment," Li Xiao said, finding a place to sit and gazing out at the sea.

After resting on the beach for a while, they headed to the Badaguan scenic area. The architecture there was incredibly diverse, featuring European, Chinese, Japanese, and other styles. Each building seemed to have its own story.

"Old Li, look at this building! It’s gorgeous!" Huang Pengfei said, pointing to a European-style villa.

"They are. These buildings are testaments to history," Li Xiao said. "Walking around here feels like stepping back in time."

They strolled through Badaguan, admiring the beautiful architecture and soaking in the historical atmosphere. Before they knew it, it was noon.

After their tour of Badaguan, they were both getting hungry. They decided it was time to sample some of Qingdao’s famous cuisine.

"I’ve heard the seafood in Qingdao is famous. Let’s go get some," Li Xiao suggested.

"Yes! Definitely! I’ve been craving seafood for ages," Huang Pengfei said eagerly.

They found a seafood restaurant and ordered some crab, shrimp, shellfish, and other seafood. Before long, plates of delicious seafood were served to their table.

"Wow, this seafood looks incredible," Huang Pengfei said, picking up a crab and starting to dig in.

Li Xiao picked up a shrimp and popped it into his mouth. "Mm, it’s delicious. So fresh!"

After the seafood, they sampled some of Qingdao’s other specialties, like Qingdao beer and barbecue. Each delicacy left a lasting impression.

After their meal, they went to a venue for folk performances in Qingdao. A sea-themed song and dance performance was underway. The performers, dressed in ocean-themed costumes, were singing and dancing. The atmosphere was incredibly lively.

"What a great show!" Huang Pengfei said, applauding.

"It is. This is part of Qingdao’s maritime culture. It’s very distinctive," Li Xiao said.

After the performance, they started shopping for local specialties. Dried seafood and beer are some of Qingdao’s most famous products. They picked out a few things they liked to bring back as gifts for friends and family.

"Old Li, this trip to Qingdao has been so rewarding," Huang Pengfei said, holding his stuffed bags.

"Yeah. We saw the beautiful ocean views, tasted amazing food, watched a local performance, and bought souvenirs. Now, it’s time for our next stop," Li Xiao said.

Carrying their bags and in high spirits, Li Xiao and Huang Pengfei arrived in the mystical city of Lijiang. The moment they set foot in this place, they were enveloped by its unique atmosphere.

"Old Li, Lijiang has such a great atmosphere! Look at these quaint, old-fashioned buildings," Huang Pengfei said excitedly, looking all around.

Li Xiao smiled. "It does. The Lijiang Ancient City is world-famous, after all. Come on, let’s go take a walk through the Ancient City first."

They walked into the Lijiang Ancient City. Winding bluestone paths were flanked by old wooden buildings, and the streets were lined with bustling shops.

"Wow, this Ancient City has so much character. Look at those handicrafts—they’re beautiful," Huang Pengfei said, his attention captured by one of the shops.

Li Xiao also stopped to look. "Lijiang’s handicrafts are very unique. They’re a testament to the ingenuity of the local people."

They strolled through the Ancient City, soaking in its tranquil and rustic atmosphere. Every so often, the melodious strains of Naxi Ancient Music would drift by, captivating them.

"Old Li, this music is beautiful. I feel completely relaxed," Huang Pengfei said, closing his eyes to listen quietly.

"That’s the magic of Lijiang," Li Xiao said. "It lets you forget your troubles and just lose yourself in this wonderful atmosphere."

After they finished exploring the Ancient City, they decided it was time to sample some of Lijiang’s cuisine.

"I’ve heard the cured pork ribs in Lijiang are famous. We should go try them," Li Xiao suggested.

"Yes! Definitely! I’ve been wanting to try them," Huang Pengfei said eagerly.

They found a local restaurant and ordered the cured pork ribs. A few moments later, a wonderfully aromatic platter of them was set on their table.

"Whoa, that smell... it’s amazing," Huang Pengfei said, taking a deep breath.
