Chapter 51: Mutual Destruction

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Mutual Destruction

Bena’s heart lurched. He knew that even though the creature was injured, as a powerful mutated being, its senses were still incredibly sharp.

He didn’t take any chances. He immediately raised the .32 handgun, aimed it at the mutated gray wolf’s body, and pulled the trigger.

Bena’s movements were swift and decisive. Without any hesitation, the .32 handgun in his hand spat fire, and the bullets shrieked through the air, heading straight for the mutated gray wolf’s vitals.

Although the mutated gray wolf’s reaction speed had been slowed by its injuries, it still displayed an astonishing survival instinct.

The moment Bena opened fire, the mutated gray wolf’s body lunged sideways, attempting to dodge the sudden attack.

However, its injuries caused its movements to become severely clumsy.

Although it managed to leap aside and avoid most of the bullets, two still found their mark.

While the two bullets didn’t hit any vital spots, they happened to tear open two of its existing wounds.

Though the mutated gray wolf’s intelligence had increased due to radiation-induced mutation, it was still an untamed beast.

It had no idea how to treat its wounds; before, it had merely found a mound of dirt and covered the gashes with dust to temporarily stop the bleeding.

Normally, this method would have been fine. With its powerful regenerative abilities, the wounds would have healed in no time.

When Bena’s bullets tore open the wounds on its body, the mutated gray wolf let out a pained howl.

The howl echoed across the empty wasteland, sounding exceptionally shrill and miserable.

Now that they were discovered, the four of them stopped hiding and immediately formed a blind-spot formation, completely surrounding the mutated gray wolf.

A vicious glint flashed in the mutated gray wolf’s eyes, and a low growl rumbled in its throat as it tried to warn the four humans not to get any closer.

It ignored its bleeding wounds, its gaze sweeping rapidly across the four people around it. It shuffled its feet in small movements, trying to find a better combat position.

In the past, when facing such enemies, even if it couldn’t easily win, escaping would have been very simple.

However, feeling the pain wracking its body, it knew that in its current condition, escape was impossible.

Even if it managed a temporary escape with a powerful burst of speed, its bleeding wounds would leave an obvious trail on the ground.

Seeing that the mutated gray wolf didn’t immediately counter-attack, Bena felt a surge of joy. ’Looks like its injuries are even more severe than I thought.’

He raised his .32 handgun again.

’In that case, don’t blame me for kicking you while you’re down.’

Seeing Bena raise the gun, a murderous intent flashed in the mutated gray wolf’s eyes.

That was the thing that had hurt it just now.

Seeing its enemy raise the weapon again, it refused to just sit there and wait for death.

It kicked off with its four legs, its massive body charging toward Bena like a heavy motorcycle.

Bena’s pupils contracted violently. His eyes filled with terror, and the hairs on his body stood on end in an instant.

’Fast. Too fast.’

Bena had originally thought that the speed the creature had shown dodging his bullets was its limit.

But now, it was obvious that its current speed was significantly faster.

’That wasn’t its limit at all. It was just that my previous attack was too sudden.

’That’s how I caught it off guard. If it had noticed me earlier, that last volley would have probably missed completely.’

As the massive black shadow rapidly closed in, Bena didn’t try to dodge. He knew that at his speed and at this distance, he had no way of evading the attack. At this thought, a look of grim determination and killing intent appeared in his eyes instead.

He pulled the trigger again. The .32 handgun trembled slightly as five bullets shrieked through the air, their target the pouncing mutated gray wolf.

The mutated gray wolf was incredibly fast, but it was already airborne and had no way to leverage a dodge.

Five bullets struck the mutated gray wolf’s body with precision, and five blossoms of blood instantly burst across its hide.

However, such an attack clearly wasn’t enough to kill it. The mutated gray wolf’s speed didn’t decrease in the slightest as it lunged straight for Bena.

Bena immediately covered his head with his hands, protecting his vital areas. Just as he thought he would be severely wounded, if not killed, his body was shoved aside.

The one who shoved him was none other than No. 1, who had been standing beside him.

At that moment, No. 1 had already activated his overclock mode. His reaction speed and strength had been significantly boosted in an instant.

As No. 1 pushed Bena aside, he took his place.

The iron longsword in No. 1’s hand thrust straight toward the mutated gray wolf’s heart. Facing No. 1’s attack, the wolf made no attempt to dodge, swinging its already raised right paw down fiercely.

In an instant, they collided.

No. 1’s iron longsword pierced accurately into the mutated gray wolf’s heart, while the wolf’s right paw struck No. 1’s body with brutal force.

Although the mutated gray wolf was already severely injured, its desperate, final blow still tore most of No. 1’s body to shreds. Countless components scattered like a goddess scattering flowers, and No. 1’s frame was sent flying by the immense force, crashing heavily to the ground.

Having already been gravely wounded, the mutated gray wolf took another critical hit to its vitals. Although it quickly got back to its feet after landing, it began to stagger, and its four massive paws trembled noticeably.

The others saw that the mutated gray wolf was at the end of its rope. They showed no courtesy and certainly weren’t about to follow any code of honor. The three of them swarmed it at once.

No. 3 and No. 2 attacked from the sides to distract the mutated gray wolf, while Bena took the opportunity to circle around to its rear, preparing to deliver the final blow.

Despite its grievous injuries, the mutated gray wolf still displayed a tenacious hold on life.

It tried to fight back, but the pain from its wounds made its movements sluggish, preventing it from effectively blocking the attacks coming from three directions.

The mutated gray wolf’s enormous front paws barely managed to fend off the attacks from No. 3 and No. 2.

However, its body, having taken one heavy blow after another, was truly on its last legs.

Bena pulled the trigger repeatedly, and more bullets sank into the mutated gray wolf’s body.

The mutated gray wolf let out continuous roars of fury, but its counter-attacks grew slower and slower.

Although the attacks from No. 3 and No. 2 didn’t hit any of the mutated gray wolf’s vitals, they left even more wounds on its body.

The three-person siege didn’t last long. With a final, unwilling roar, the already-battered mutated gray wolf collapsed.

Bena fired a few more shots into it to make absolutely sure it was dead, then finally let out a sigh of relief.

After dealing with the mutated gray wolf, Bena didn’t rush to check on his spoils. Instead, he hurried over to No. 1’s side.

No. 1 had taken the full force of the mutated gray wolf’s attack head-on and was severely damaged. His entire body had been nearly torn in half, exposing a tangle of circuits and mechanical components.
