Chapter 70: Building Upgrade

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Building Upgrade

Of course, this time’s haul wasn’t just the materials from the Mutated Brown Bear.

The loot from the raiders was pretty good, too.

[Single-Use Item]

...

This time, the loot from the raiders included plenty of good stuff, in addition to some white-tier junk equipment.

He was especially pleased with the inferior bomb. Although he only had one, its attack power of up to 100 was a delightful surprise.

He had just gotten a full report from Number 1 about the entire expedition.

A Mutated Brown Bear, which four raiders had barely been able to damage, was instantly finished off by a single remote bomb.

This meant that if he used the remote bomb in his hand properly, he could definitely one-shot a D-class mutated creature.

After offering some words of encouragement, Ye Yun told the two to hurry up and get some rest.

The remaining three androids went to their respective equipment rooms and began their production tasks.

It wasn’t that Ye Yun was being cruel by not letting the androids rest; they simply didn’t have a concept of it. As long as they had sufficient power and durability, they could work indefinitely.

Ye Yun did a quick tally of his haul.

Fourteen green components and one blue component.

He could toss the six common green weapons on the Exchange and probably get about twelve green components for them.

Unfortunately, aside from the two Impact-Resistant Iron Shields, which were green-tier, all the other armor those guys had was white-tier junk. Otherwise, his profits would have been even greater.

Ye Yun toyed with the bomb in his hand as he opened the Exchange.

He’d acquired single-use items before, but they were almost all consumables of the food variety.

Those food items were pretty useless, with the exception of a few that could increase stats or had special effects.

The other regular food items weren’t even worth as much as a common white-tier component.

After all, most food found in the wasteland had fairly high levels of radiation.

Sometimes, the negative effects of that kind of food outweighed the positive ones.

This was the first time he had ever gotten his hands on an offensive item with such considerable power, and he’d never really paid attention to them before.

However, despite searching the Exchange for a good while, Ye Yun couldn’t find what he was looking for.

There wasn’t a single green-tier offensive item listed.

Of course, it was possible some had been listed before, but they had already been sold.

Ye Yun wasn’t too surprised by this.

Good items like this were either kept for personal use or snatched up the moment they were listed.

Aside from those who were constantly monitoring the Exchange, it was probably quite difficult for anyone else to get their hands on one.

Since he couldn’t buy any, Ye Yun didn’t press the issue.

Ye Yun opened his system panel.

Occupied Space: 8

Available Space: 0 [+]

Food Stores: 88/100 [+]

Freshwater Stores: 88/100 [+]

Power Reserve: 400/400 [+]

Medical Supplies: 4/100 [+]

Construction Robots: 5/5

Advanced Android: 1/1

Androids: 3/3

Regular Humans: 3/3

Shelter Members: 7

[Storage]

White Components: 356

Green Components: 135

Blue Components: 3

Purple Components: 1

With the addition of Zhou Mei, the shelter’s population had reached seven.

Ye Yun was quite satisfied with the newcomer, Zhou Mei.

Increasing the number of androids further was impossible in the short term.

After all, the upgrade requirements for the Robot Storage Room were too high; he likely wouldn’t be able to gather enough resources for it anytime soon.

He opened the construction list.

[Dormitory (White)]

[Capacity: +2]

[Upgradeable]

Ye Yun clicked on the "Upgradeable" option.

A long list of upgrade requirements appeared before him.

[Sponge Mattress (Green)] x5 [1/5]

[Damaged Copper Wiring (Green)] x5 [2/5]

[Intact Fan (Green)] x5 [0/5]

[Rusted Screw (White)] x50 [50/50]

[Damaged Battery Coil (White)] x50 [25/50]

[Machine Rust Remover (White)] x50 [32/50]

Just like the other building upgrades, it required 15 green components and 150 white components.

Ye Yun immediately opened the Exchange and bought all the necessary materials.

He was about to click "Upgrade" but immediately remembered that Bena and the other two had already gone back to the dormitory to rest.

Upgrading the dormitory now would surely disturb their rest.

Pushing aside the idea of upgrading the dormitory, he opened the list of other buildings.

Aside from the [Shelter Entrance] and the [Robot Storage Room], all the other structures were white-tier.

Ye Yun checked the other buildings one by one.

Aside from the [Water Purification Room] and the [Power Supply Room], which required special items to upgrade, the requirements for the others weren’t steep.

Seeing this distinction, Ye Yun felt a bit puzzled.

’Is there something special about water and food?’

’Right now, the least valuable resources in the storage are probably food and water.’

’After all, he could produce 24 units a day, enough to feed one person for over half a month. The only cost was 2.4 power cubes; the manpower cost was actually higher by comparison.’

’After all, an average wasteland survivor could scavenge at least 20 white-tier components in a single day.’

’By that math, a single unit of food or water was worth about one white-tier component.’

Plenty of people were already selling [Small Food Cubes] and [Small Water Purification Cubes] on the Exchange, but Ye Yun’s shelter had never run short of those things, so he’d never bought any.

The [Water Purification Room] and the [Food Production Room] required a [Medium Filter (Green)] and a [Medium Protein Synthesizer (Green)] to upgrade, respectively.

He had never seen either of these items before, and since he had no immediate plans to upgrade those rooms, he decided to shelve the idea for now.

Still, Ye Yun made a mental note of this special requirement.

Ye Yun opened the construction list and bought all the materials needed to upgrade the [Repair Room], [Science Laboratory], and [Storage].

After issuing the upgrade orders to the construction robots, Ye Yun left them to it.

He closed the panel and went back to his dorm to rest.

Early the next morning, the [Repair Room], [Science Laboratory], and [Storage] had completed their upgrades.

After the upgrades:

The [Repair Room]’s repair speed had doubled.

The [Science Laboratory] could now produce a wider variety of medical supplies.

And the [Storage] upgrade increased the maximum capacity for Food Stores, Freshwater Stores, Power Reserve, and Medical Supplies by 100 each.
