Chapter 407: Killing The Guild Captain.
Chapter 407: Killing The Guild Captain.
Even though the Slave Trade Guild Captain could not understand how Solenne was able to cut through his well cherished armor,
That did not reduce the rage boiling in his heart.
The humiliation burned hotter than the pain from the deep wound across his chest. Years of pride and confidence were being trampled beneath Solenne’s relentless assault.
"I’ll kill you!" he screamed, charging forward.
His roar echoed throughout the underground chamber.
The humiliation.
He must wash it all away with Solenne’s blood.
"Myriad Illusionary Blade!"
Whoosh!
His figure blurred, appearing before Solenne in a blink. His movements became several times faster than before.
Afterimages filled the surrounding space.
This attack stunned her. She never expected the Slave Trade Guild Captain would possess such a skill.
The sword shadows multiplied continuously.
One became five.
Five became dozens.
It became nearly impossible to distinguish reality from illusion.
Instinctively, she leaned to the side, crossing her blades in defense.
Bang! Bang!
The Myriad Illusionary Blade was terrifyingly fast, making it almost impossible to determine the real strike from the fake ones.
Every illusion concealed a deadly attack.
Every swing targeted a vital point.
Sparks flew everywhere.
The deafening sound of steel clashing against steel echoed endlessly.
In less than ten seconds, the two had exchanged more than one thousand strikes.
Their weapons blurred together.
Neither the surrounding Guild members nor the chained prisoners could clearly follow the battle anymore.
Enraged, the Guild Captain kept striking with complete abandonment. His sword continuously pressed forward like an unstoppable storm.
Every attack carried his burning desire to kill.
Solenne’s expression turned ugly as she was pushed backward. Each collision sent vibrations through both of her arms.
She wanted to retreat and create some space between them, but the Guild Captain did not allow her.
Every time she moved backward, he closed the distance with even more terrifying strikes.
His offensive never paused and his sword seemed to exist everywhere at once.
Under the barrage of attacks, Solenne’s arms gradually became numb. Her grip on her blades began to loosen.
Her breathing slowly became heavier.
’I can’t continue like this,’ she exclaimed inwardly.
Her calm eyes rapidly searched for an opportunity. She knew she only needed a single opening.
She ducked to the left, avoiding a close strike toward her neck, and responded with a brutal sharp strike toward the exposed chest of the Guild Captain.
The blade flashed with lightning speed but how could the Guild Captain allow her?
Without hesitation, he responded with a fist strike.
"Diamond Shattering Fist!"
His left fist instantly became covered with a brilliant metallic glow. The surrounding mana condensed around it. Veins bulged across his muscular arm.
The air itself distorted from the terrifying pressure.
The punch shot forward like a falling meteor.
The overwhelming force compressed the surrounding air, producing a deep explosion before the fist had even reached its target.
Bang!
Argh!
A sharp scream escaped from Solenne’s throat as she staggered backward.
The terrifying impact traveled from her crossed blades directly into her arms.
Her palms tore open.
Blood gushed out continuously.
The bones inside her fingers creaked painfully. Yet she refused to let go of her weapons.
Losing her weapons would mean her end. She gritted her teeth and forcefully steadied herself.
A sneer appeared on the Guild Captain’s face and without speaking, he closed the distance to finish her off.
His confidence completely returned as he believed victory was already within his grasp.
Solenne wore a grim expression.
Her cold eyes were filled with terrifying killing intent.
Instead of fear... Calmness gradually returned.
She had finally obtained exactly what she wanted.
"Dream Butterfly Double Cut."
Whoosh!
She vanished from her spot at an impossible speed. Her body seemed to disappear into the surrounding darkness.
This was the space she had been craving, and that last attack from the Guild Captain had created that opening.
Blurring together with the surroundings, a faint whistling sound echoed through the chamber.
For the Guild Captain, every fiber of his body screamed of impending danger. His instincts exploded with warning.
He reacted quickly and took a defensive stance and his sword immediately crossed before his chest.
Unfortunately...
He underestimated the fatality of the Dream Butterfly Double Cut.
Solenne whistled through the air, appearing before him as she performed a deadly sword strike.
One high.
One low.
The first blade swept downward.
The second blade slashed upward.
The two sword strikes crossed paths like elegant butterfly wings before separating once more.
Beautiful.
Silent.
Yet unimaginably deadly, leaving behind intersecting bloody trails.
Ahhh!
The Slave Trade Guild Captain was sent flying. His back slammed heavily into the chamber wall.
The entire wall cracked from the tremendous impact. Dust and broken stones rained onto the ground.
A mouthful of blood escaped from his mouth.
On his chest, his breast armor plate had been cleaved apart, forming a massive X. The broken armor pieces slowly slid from his body before crashing onto the stone floor.
His flesh and ribs stood no chance.
Blood flowed continuously from the intersecting wounds. Even part of his beating heart had been cleanly severed.
It was bloody.
The Guild Captain slowly raised his head with great difficulty and stared at Solenne in disbelief.
His eyes were filled with unwillingness. He still could not understand how he had lost.
He opened his mouth to speak, only a guttural sound escaped.
Then, the light inside his eyes gradually dimmed. Darkness consumed him and never to wake again.
Huf! Huf!
Solenne gasped for air. The last strike had taken a toll on her body. Sweats dripping down from her forehead.
She exhaled and inhaled deeply before she slowly turned her head to the trembling member of the Slave Trade Guild.
Noticing her gaze, the Slave Trade Guild member trembled in horror.
"..P-Please..."
Whoosh!
Before they could plead for their lives, their head was separated cleanly for their neck. Against such vile people, direct killing was the only solution.
Thirty seconds later, the chamber was deadly quiet with the thick stench of blood. As for the prisoner, each held their breath as if their life depended on it.
Solenne merely glanced at them for a moment before she departed. This was not the moment to set them free.
