Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 408: The Wrong Bet.

Chapter 408: The Wrong Bet.

"What is the situation?" Neris asked with a deep frown on her face.

The reports that were coming in were not good.

Not good at all.

Every new piece of information made her expression increasingly grim. This was supposed to be an easy mission.

Taking down the Crimson Arc Guild shouldn’t have caused any stir in the town. Everything had been carefully planned beforehand.

Every possibility had already been considered.

Riven was merely a Level 36 Tank.

How could he pose any threat to the Slave Trade Guild?

Even if he had become stronger, there was no reason for him to overturn their carefully prepared plans.

To be safe, she had allied with the Slave Trade Guild, dispatching a portion of their elite members for support.

This was to ensure nothing went wrong.

She had deliberately left nothing to chance.

As long as they took down the Crimson Arc Guild, the Slave Trade Guild would owe them a huge favor.

That favor alone would greatly strengthen the Silver Crest Guild’s future position.

More importantly, they could use the captured members of the Crimson Arc Guild to threaten Solenne and ask her to reveal the location of the Grim Reaper.

Once they found the Grim Reaper... Everything else would become much easier.

She had already planned everything step by step.

But now...

Every report completely overturned her expectations.

Staring at Neris, their Alchemist wore a grim expression.

She had supported this mission, hoping to obtain more materials to advance her profession.

The Slave Trade Guild had promised generous rewards.

But now...

She could only see danger approaching. Opposite her were two young men with ugly expressions.

Both remained unusually quiet.

They would have been sent to join the attack but were instead assigned to handle matters concerning the Scorpion Clan.

Neither of them expected the situation within Horn Lizard Town to deteriorate so quickly.

The room gradually became silent.

Only the occasional tapping of fingers against the wooden table could be heard.

Everyone’s nerves were stretched tight.

Suddenly, hurried footsteps echoed from outside the room.

The footsteps rapidly approached.

Bang!

The conference room door was pushed open, and a young man covered in sweat appeared.

His breathing was ragged and his clothes were covered with dust. With a terrified expression and expression that already lost color.

"Vice Guild..." He struggled to catch his breath.

"What is it?" the Alchemist snapped.

Her nerves tensed immediately.

News from the streets was already bad enough and she hoped this wouldn’t be any worse.

Not only her...

Everyone was hoping this wouldn’t be bad news. The two young men unconsciously rose halfway from their seats.

Even Neris fixed her sharp gaze upon the messenger.

"T-they... They... They are..." The young man’s lips trembled.

His entire body shook uncontrollably.

"What!" Neris snapped.

Her patience had already reached its limit. She wanted to bash the young man’s head and pry the information out of him.

Boom!

Before the young man could even relay the urgent news, the building trembled to its core.

The wooden table shook violently and dust fell continuously from the ceiling.

"What is that?"

Everyone’s expressions changed, and a foreboding feeling rose in their hearts.

None of them needed to speak.

They could all feel it.

Something had gone terribly wrong.

Ahhh! Ahhh! Ahhh!

Screams and cries echoed from below as the building continued shaking. The sounds of weapons colliding soon followed.

Explosions echoed throughout the headquarters. The once orderly guild building instantly descended into chaos.

"We are under attack! The Twin Party and the Crimson Arc Guild are here!" the young man finally reported.

His voice cracked from panic.

Neris and the others no longer paid any attention to him. Even a fool could tell the guild was under attack.

The distant sounds of battle grew increasingly louder. Several walls continued vibrating from the repeated impacts.

"Get out," one of the young men commanded angrily.

His patience had completely run out.

"Ah... Yes..." The young man hurriedly rushed out of the room.

With the young man gone, the Alchemist did not hesitate to turn to Neris and ask,

"What are we going to do?" Her voice shook, filled with fear.

The confidence she previously possessed had completely disappeared. The battle cry coming around her had already shattered her composure.

She knew if she fell into the hands of the Crimson Arc Guild, her fate wouldn’t be any different from everyone else’s.

The thought alone caused her body to tremble slightly. She had no intention of becoming one of them.

’I shouldn’t have agreed to join the Silver Crest Guild if I had known they were this useless,’ she cried inwardly.

Regret rapidly filled her heart. Everything she had worked for suddenly seemed meaningless.

’I need to find a way to save my neck.’

She instinctively tightened her fists. Her breathing gradually became heavier.

’I’m an Alchemist.’

’I’m needed everywhere.’

’I can’t die a useless death.’

No matter where she went, an Alchemist was always welcomed. She refused to throw away her future because of someone else’s failure.

Neris glanced at her, and a sneer appeared on her face. She could already guess what was going on in her mind. She had seen that expression countless times before.

Whenever defeat approached, everyone suddenly began thinking only about themselves.

"What else are we going to do?" she asked, walking toward the exit.

Her footsteps remained steady.

There was not the slightest hesitation in her movements.

"Of course we fight."

Her voice was calm.

Firm.

Resolute.

She opened the door but did not step out. Instead, she turned her head and looked directly at the Alchemist.

"Don’t think you can escape with your neck intact."

"If the guild falls, everyone falls with it."

Her meaning was clear.

Whether they liked it or not...

They were already tied to the same fate.

The Alchemist’s face immediately paled. She opened her mouth as if she wanted to argue.

However...

Not a single word came out.

With that, Neris departed and took out her spear from her inventory. Immediately, the aura around her body changed.

It became thick and filled with fighting spirit. The pressure she released instantly filled the corridor.

Her sharp eyes turned cold and every trace of hesitation vanished.

Behind her, the two men also took out their weapons.

A saber for the Warrior.

A dagger for the Assassin.
