After a slight catch-up, Arin and Fidelia quickly bade Thoren goodbye. Although the reunion had been unexpected, neither of them could afford to stay for too long.

They still had to visit their families, and unlike Thoren, who had forty-eight hours to spend on the surface before being pulled back toward the Abyss, they only had twenty-four hours.

Every minute was precious.

"I’ll see you again before I leave" Fidelia said seriously.

Thoren nodded. "Of course, we still have to meet again."

Fidelia smiled faintly. She was reluctant to leave, but she understood that they did not have much time.

Arin gave Thoren another look before turning around.

"We’ll catch up properly next time."

Thoren nodded.

"Take care."

The two quickly departed from the Muster Ground, leaving the battlefield behind as they headed toward the city.

As for Thoren, he did not linger either.

The battle had already attracted too much attention, and he had no intention of remaining at the Muster Ground longer than necessary, especially after he sensed the arrival of the Governor’s personal forces.

Not long after Arin and Fidelia left, another group of soldiers entered the area.

They wore equipment that was noticeably different from the ordinary military soldiers, and their formation was much more organized.

They moved quickly through the ruined entrance while securing the area and taking control of the remaining soldiers.

This were the Governor personal force. Elite among Elites.

Thoren glanced toward them once before turning away.

He had already done what he needed to do.

The hidden facility had been destroyed and as for the rest, he would leave it for the governor to handle. Therefore, there was no reason for him to remain.

With that, he left the Muster Ground.

By the time he returned to the Knight Order’s hidden base, the situation in the surrounding area had already begun to calm down.

When Thoren entered the room where Lorwen was waiting, she immediately stood from her seat.

Her expression carried genuine gratitude. "Young Master Thoren, I thank you on behalf of everyone in the city."

Saying that, she gave him a deep bow.

Thoren waved his hand dismissively.

"I’m just doing my part. Besides, this is also for the safety of my family." His voice was calm, detach of any pretence..

He had never considered himself a saint or a hero who went around saving people simply because it was the right thing to do.

If his family had not been living in Suncrest City, he might not have cared about what happened to the city at all.

The threat had appeared close to his family and that alone was enough reason for him to act.

As for Lorwen, she was notbothered by his reason.

She understood that people had different motivations for doing things, and as far as she was concerned, the most important thing was that the threat had been dealt with.

The hidden facility beneath the Muster Ground had been destroyed and the people responsible had been exposed.

More importantly, the immediate danger hanging over Suncrest City had been removed. To her, that was enough.

"Now, I hope your men can handle the few remnants and traitors scattered around the city," Thoren said seriously.

Lorwen straightened herself.

"Young Master, you don’t have to worry. We can handle that." She said confidently.

While Thoren had been dealing with the hidden facility beneath the Muster Ground, the Knight Order had not remained idle.

Her people had already begun moving against the known traitors and collaborators scattered among the affluent families within Suncrest City.

They had spent years gathering information on the traitors.

And now that the hidden force behind the military crisis had exposed itself, the Knight Order had finally been given the opportunity to act.

Listening to her confident tone, Thoren could only nod.

"Go and enjoy your rare vacation. Leave the rest to us." Lorwen smiled slightly.

Thoren did not stay any longer as he turned around and walked out of the room.

For several seconds, Lorwen remained standing where she was.

Her expression slowly became serious.

The gratitude that had been present a couple of second earlier had disappear and it was replaced with a cold expression.

She reached into her clothes and took out her communication device.

Lorwen selected a contact and make a call. In less than five second, the communication connected.

"Have you rounded up all the traitors?"

A deep voice came from the other end of the device. "Yes."

Lorwen nodded.

"Good. Bring them back to the base for questioning."

"Understood."

The communication ended and Lorwen lowered the device.

While Thoren had been dealing with the hidden facility inside the Muster Ground, the Knight Order had been moving against all the known traitors among the affluent families.

A few traitors had tried to hide behind their family’s influence, but the Knight Order had moved quickly enough that most of them had been captured before they could escape.

...

...

In an unknown location far from the Knight Order’s hidden base, a communication device suddenly vibrated.

The sound was faint in the darkness.

Bzzzt. Bzzzt.

A figure covered in darkness slowly reached out and picked up the device.

The room was almost completely dark.

There was no visible window, and the only light came from the faint glow of the communication device in the figure’s hand.

The figure remained silent while listening to the message.

For several seconds, nothing happened. Then the communication ended and the figure slowly lowered the device.

"So they failed..."

The voice was quiet.

The figure remained standing in the darkness for another few seconds before turning around. Then the figure walked toward the exit.

The darkness gradually disappeared as the figure stepped out of the room and entered a long corridor.

The corridor was dimly lit, with several ancient lamps attached to the walls.

The figure continued walking and their footsteps echoed softly through the empty passage.

Step. Step. Step.

The deeper the figure walked, the more clearly their silhouette became visible beneath the dim light.

The person was not wearing a mask.

Their expression remained calm as they continued down the corridor, apparently unconcerned by the failure that had just been reported.

There was something familiar about the face. If Thoren were to see the face of the figure, he would be surprised.
