Chapter 459
Brandishing the sword in his hand, Vale charged at the demonic beasts, his blade was incredibly fierce, but there were simply too many, he couldn’t fend them all off.
He watched helplessly as the beasts rushed toward his mother’s house and heard the tragic screams of his mother and sister.
"No!" Vale roared, but he was already too late.
He charged into the house, only to see the cold corpses of his mother and sister, he knelt on the ground, hugging their bodies, his heart filled with endless remorse and agony.
"Why? I clearly trained as hard as I could! Why is it still not enough?!" Vale questioned the heavens, but the only response was the roaring of beasts and the howling wind.
All of his training over this recent period seemed like a sick joke.
The sword in his hand exuded a chilling sword qi, like a demon crawling out of hell.
One sword, one demonic beast.
A single man repelled the entire beast tide.
The scene ended.
Aria remained silent, she finally understood why Vale went all out and fought tooth and nail in every single battle.
If it were her, her Dao heart would probably have shattered long ago.
But Vale had persevered, as expected, not a single person capable of becoming a Saint was mediocre.
She also finally understood why Vale’s starlight had chosen her, because she lacked drive and audacity, even at the Ninth Heaven of the Deity Realm, she had never experienced a brutal battle where one exhausted every last drop of blood to grasp victory, even when the Book Saint was about to leave, she hadn’t possessed the courage to ask him to stay.
Just as she was thinking this, a wisp of white aura drifted from Vale’s body and slowly merged into Aria.
Instantly, her bottleneck loosened, she now had the opportunity to become a Saint.
Adam smiled and nodded in satisfaction, although this result wasn’t the best, it was far better than failure, it was impossible for Aria to instantly transform into someone utterly fearless, but a seed had been planted, when the critical moment arrived, it would inevitably burst forth.
One must go all out in every single moment of life, otherwise, you never know if you’ll get another chance to give it your all.
Satisfied, Adam departed from Vale’s starlight.
Outside, two streaks of starlight suddenly dimmed.
Adam looked over. It was two of the Ninth Heaven Deity Realm experts from the Mysterious Yellow Great World. One had failed, one had succeeded.
Adam sighed, it was all a matter of fate, there was nothing he could do for the one who failed.
He swept his gaze over the remaining three streaks, they were all still ongoing, however, Crimson’s starlight was rather dim, it seemed he had run into trouble.
Adam sighed again and merged into Crimson’s starlight.
The beginning of the story was as classic as ever.
Adam watched a wealthy young lady struggling frantically in a lake, and Crimson, who was currently inhabiting the body of a delicate, pretty-faced youth.
Unsurprisingly, exactly as expected, the pretty-faced youth dove straight in without hesitation.
As it turned out, this place was called Jade Town.
In this prosperous water town south of the river lived the Burns family, the wealthiest household in the region.
The Burns family’s precious daughter, Aurelia, was as beautiful as a flower and precious as jade, bright and clever, she was deeply doted upon by her family.
She was not spoiled like a traditional rich miss, however, instead, she had a strong interest in poetry and literature, often composing poems and painting alone by the lake in the back garden.
That day, the sun was shining brightly and a gentle breeze brushed past, dressed in an elegant dress, Aurelia held a paintbrush, painting quietly beneath a willow tree by the lake, she was painting the lotus flowers in the water, each blossom was vividly beautiful, as if one could almost smell their fragrance.
Just as she was intoxicated by the scenery, a sudden gust of wind blew past, her dress billowed gracefully, but she stumbled and tumbled into the lake.
The water wasn’t particularly deep, but to Aurelia, who couldn’t swim, it was like a bottomless abyss, she slapped the surface in panic, crying for help, but no one was around, only her voice echoed across the empty lake.
Right at that moment, a young scholar happened to pass by, his name was Axel. Although he came from a poor family, he was brimming with talent and well-read in the classics.
Hearing the cries, he dropped his scroll and sprinted to the lake’s edge, seeing a beautiful girl struggling in the water, he dove in without hesitation and swam toward Aurelia.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her toward shore, both looked rather disheveled, but Axel didn’t mind, his only thought was getting Aurelia safely onto the bank.
After some effort, the two reached the shore, Axel laid Aurelia gently on the ground and sat beside her, panting heavily.
Aurelia looked at him with gratitude, tears shimmering in her eyes, she bowed deeply. "Thank you for saving my life, young master! I have no way to repay you..."
Axel waved his hands. "Miss, no need for such formalities, saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda, I only did what I ought to do."
Aurelia observed Axel carefully, clear, handsome features and a refined bearing, although his clothes were worn, they couldn’t conceal his scholarly aura, respect and gratitude swelled in her heart.
"May I ask for the young master’s name? I will certainly pay a visit to express my gratitude," Aurelia asked.
"I am Axel, merely a poor scholar," he answered modestly.
They chatted for a while longer, and Aurelia learned that Axel was a student in town who came to the lake every day to study, her respect deepened, and she decided to seek his guidance on poetry and literature more often.
From then on, Aurelia and Axel became good friends, she frequently brought her maidservant to the lake to chat and learn from him, together, they admired flowers, composed poems, and discussed history and modern affairs, their friendship grew deeper, and gradually, a different kind of affection blossomed between them.
Seeing this, Adam could already imagine just how tortured Crimson must be.
Crimson was a saber wielder with a bold, straightforward personality, at his age, he had long lost any interest in this kind of dawdling, mushy romance, yet of all things, he was stuck inside the body of a scholar.
