Chapter 470 (Inspiration Capsule Extra - )

The mottled lamplight reflected off the stone paved streets, illuminating the silhouettes of a group of ragged beggar children, they either huddled in street corners or tremblingly reached out frail hands to beg from passing pedestrians.

Among this group, a pair of siblings was particularly eye catching.

The older brother, named Liam, was only twelve or thirteen years old, yet he possessed a firm and profound gaze, he tightly held his younger sister Anna’s hand, terrified she might get lost in the cold, rainy night.

Anna was only seven or eight, her face was pale, but she carried a resilience beyond her age, her eyes flickered with trust in her brother and longing for the future.

"Brother, I’m hungry..." Anna’s voice was weak and trembling, her stomach rumbling loudly.

Heartbroken, Liam rubbed his sister’s head gently. "Be good, Anna, I will definitely find something to eat."

He looked around, resolve appearing in his gaze.

Just then, a group of wealthy young men in luxurious brocade robes walked over from afar, holding paper fans, they talked and laughed loudly, blind to the beggar children on the street.

A plump young master noticed Anna, he stopped, a teasing smile curling his mouth.

"Oh ho, this little girl is quite pretty." He stepped forward, reaching out his greasy hand to pinch Anna’s face.

Anna shrank back in terror.

Liam immediately shielded his sister behind him and glared at the young master.

"Get lost! Don’t touch my sister!" Though childish, his voice was full of determination.

Startled by his manner, the young master paused before flying into a rage, he swung his fist at Liam, thin and weak as he was, Liam was entirely fearless, he gritted his teeth and fought back.

Bang! The fists collided, Liam jolted back a few steps, but didn’t retreat, he charged forward even more furiously.

The two tangled together, the surrounding wealthy youths crowded around to join in.

Terrified, Anna screamed, she clutched the corner of her brother’s clothes, tears swirling, she wanted to help, but was stopped by his gaze.

Liam knew he had to protect his sister, he could not let her be harmed.

The commotion drew passing pedestrians, some pointed and whispered, some looked on with sympathy, others turned away coldly.

Not a single person stepped forward.

Right then, the crisp sound of a flute rang out, melodious and mild.

A middle aged man in a green robe stepped from the crowd, holding a long flute, his gaze was gentle yet profound, he walked between Liam and the young master and waved his sleeve, separating them.

"Stop this." His voice was deep and powerful, as if carrying a charm that compelled obedience.

"Who are you?! How dare you meddle in my business!" the young master cursed.

The middle aged man smiled faintly. "I am but a passing traveler, seeing you fighting here, I wished to mediate."

He turned to the siblings. "These two are just pitiful people trying to survive, why must you be so aggressive?"

A flash of spiritual energy glinted in his eyes, the young master, as if possessed, said nothing more and slipped away with his lackeys.

The pedestrians also scattered.

The middle aged man walked over to the siblings, crouched down, and asked softly. "Are you alright?"

Liam shook his head gratefully. "Thank you, Uncle, for saving our lives."

Anna whispered with teary eyes. "Thank you, Uncle..."

He pulled a bundle from his robes and handed it to Anna. "Here is some food and clothing, take them for now."

Anna opened it, inside were fragrant steamed buns and clean clothes, she wept with joy. "Thank you, Uncle! Thank you, Uncle!"

Liam looked at the man with gratitude. "Uncle, we siblings will never forget your kindness, if we ever make something of ourselves, we will repay your favor!"

The middle aged man waved his hand. "There is no need, I only did what I ought to do."

He stood up and patted Liam’s shoulder. "You are a brave child, protect your sister well."

With that, he turned and disappeared into the crowd.

The siblings watched his receding back, hearts filled with gratitude and respect.

This middle aged man was none other than Adam in disguise.

And these two siblings were a pair with extremely high talent that he had set his sights on, however, Adam still needed to observe their temperaments before considering whether to take them as disciples, to him, a disciple’s temperament was far more important than talent.

After Adam vanished, Liam and Anna remained immersed in deep gratitude, unaware that this mysterious man was the turning point of their destiny.

A few days later, a luxuriously dressed man found them, he claimed to be a wealthy merchant named James.

He made an astonishing proposal, he was willing to adopt one of them, providing excellent living conditions and allowing them to escape the misery of begging.

Anna tightly grabbed Liam’s hand, eyes full of dependence and reluctance, she knew that if separated, they could never again rely on each other for survival.

Liam furrowed his brows, he knew this was an opportunity to change their fate, but he was even less willing to see his sister suffer harm.

"Brother, I don’t want to leave you." Anna’s voice carried a sob.

Liam gently stroked Anna’s head. "Anna, I don’t want to leave you either, but if we can have a better life, perhaps we can work hard and reunite someday."

Anna shook her head, tears streaming. "No, I don’t want to separate, I would rather beg forever than be separated from you."

Looking at the deep affection between them, James couldn’t help but be moved.

But he knew his task was not yet complete, he took a deep breath and spoke again. "Liam, Anna, do you know? This world is very cruel, sometimes, we must make a choice, I can give you an opportunity for one of you to live a better life, but this choice must be made by you yourselves."
