Godslayer's Legend
Chapter 1084: Blocked by Wood [Monthly Bonus 2]
Across the vast multi-universal battlefield, gods and Giants clashed alongside Angels and Demons, Archdevils and Celestials, and combatants of many other races.
Wide-area attacks erupted everywhere, explosions engulfing light-years upon light-years of space, while weapons and spells collided with one another.
Blood of every imaginable colour spilt through space as bodies were torn apart, yet countless combatants continued fighting, without knowing who would survive the next moment.
Suddenly, space across several particularly crowded locations warped, and more ships emerged from the distortions, bringing in additional forces from both sides to join the battle.
Among the newly arriving vessels, there was a particular fleet of twelve ships moving together in an arrowhead formation. The ten ships behind the two positioned at the front began condensing enormous quantities of magic power and divinity, channelling all that energy into the two vessels at the head of the formation.
Elven and Divine runes appeared across the surfaces of the ships as the accumulated power was concentrated into a single point in front of the two ships.
But before that energy could be unleashed upon the battlefield, a thunderous voice imbued with an overpowering Authority suddenly boomed across the entirety of the vast battlefield.
Do you think we would let you do as you please?
Space ripped open, and a gigantic hand constructed of dark magic power emerged. The galaxy-sized construct reached towards the two ships in the front of the formation, its fingers wrapping around both vessels before crushing them together like sticks.
The two ships were instantly destroyed between its fingers, their condensed energy erupting outward in a massive explosion that consumed everything surrounding them. The remaining ten ships were caught within the explosion, their crews and troops reduced to dust by the immense release of energy.
For several seconds, that portion of the battlefield was completely overwhelmed by the destruction.
However, this was just the beginning.
The enormous hand, emerging from the blast with barely a few scratches on its surface, grew larger before sweeping across space, causing tens of thousands of magic circles to appear throughout the surrounding region.
From each magic circle, dozens of ginormous blazing stars emerged, raining down on the forces of the Divine Alliance.
Valkyries of Asgard who were fighting against Lower Demons looked up at the falling stars, each containing terrifying amounts of magic power and imbued with Authorities that made them feel chills down their spines.
Faced with this, even these battle-hardened veterans had some of their ranks losing their will to fight.
There were those who raised their weapons with defiance, and the third group that silently prayed to their distant ruler.
‘O Odin, save us!’
The falling stars rained down upon all attempts at defence, crashing through all barriers and shields the fighting soldiers could put up, exploding in novae that ended the lives of tens of thousands of Deities.
The devastation spread at an alarming rate, and within minutes, millions of Divine Alliance soldiers found themselves on the verge of a literally explosive death.
It was then that suddenly, the space around them began to quake…and not from the explosions of the falling stars.
A brilliant light flashed across the region as lightning crackled through space, and a few seconds after the light came a thunderous voice booming with rage.
UTGARD-LOKI!!!!
The divine lightning branched out endlessly, colliding with the falling stars and obliterating them in enormous blasts of power before they could reach the millions of fleeing Divine Alliance soldiers.
Then, a streak of blue light shot upwards through the chaos, straight towards the galaxy-sized hand, piercing through all hundred layers of magic power shields that appeared in front of it, and crashing right into the palm.
Divine lightning erupted violently on impact, sending cracks through the giant construct that raced up its length, all the way up to the rift from which it had emerged.
Space quaked violently as the cracks ripped through its fabric, followed by an enormous explosion as the clash between the giant hand’s dark magic power and the divine lightning reached its critical point.
Within that blast, two streaks of light smashed into one another, the collision’s impact unleashing shockwaves that forcefully dispersed the explosion’s energy, revealing two figures at the centre.
One was a heavily built man wearing partial battle armour, with long blonde hair tied into a single braid behind his head, and a bushy beard divided into several segmented braids that hung beneath his face.
Both of his hands firmly held a massive hammer, which he pushed against the gauntlet-clad arms of the enormous figure opposite him.
That figure towered over him at nearly twenty times his size, with gigantic arms covered in dark magic power and gauntlets that peeked out of the sleeves of his long robes.
Despite the tremendous difference in their physical sizes, neither figure was being forced backwards, as the hammer and fists clashed with equal power.
A wide grin spread across the giant’s bearded face, and with a loud voice, he shouted.
You finally reveal yourself, cursed Aesir bastard!
The hammer-wielding god’s expression darkened as he glared at the giant, roaring back in his True Voice.
Silence, cowardly Jotun! Today, I’ll crush you with my hammer!
Both of them pulled back for a second before immediately clashing again, the collision of hammer and fists producing a massive shockwave that rippled through space.
Every subsequent clash resulted in another explosion of power, waves of divinity and magic power rippling out in all directions, crashing into the bodies of the fleeing soldiers around them.
RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
RETREAT!!
GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE YOU GET CAUGHT UP BETWEEN THEM!!!
Commanders screamed out orders to their soldiers to retreat, creating a scene where millions of fighters on both the sides of the Divine Alliance and Infernal Coalition dashed away as fast as they could, with some even burning their souls for extra power to run away from the two clashing Monarchs.
Far away from the clash, a certain being watched the confrontation with a calm expression, his eyes following every faster-than-light movement between the two.
Finally, he looked away, turning to someone beside him.
“It’s a trap,” he said. “Help him before he is surrounded.”
The one he spoke to silently nodded before getting up from where they sat and disappearing in a flash of light, blitzing through space towards the main battlefield.
By the thousandth clash between the gauntleted fists of Jotunheim’s Giant of Magic and Asgard’s Thunder god, the space behind the Aesir suddenly warped.
We caught quite the big fish, didn’t we, Loki?!
!
The god’s eyes widened at the sound of that voice, as another Jotun wearing heavy battle armour emerged from the distortion, swinging the two frozen axes in his hands down towards the god’s back.
Having already committed his full strength into swinging his hammer against the opponent in front of him, he was unable to defend himself against the sudden attack coming from behind.
His divinity burst wildly from his body to form a shield, but he knew it was far from enough to withstand the chilling frost curse within those axes.
Just when he’d steeled himself to take a hit, trying to tilt his body at the last moment to avoid taking the full brunt of the attack, something suddenly flashed into the space behind him.
To the shock of both Jotuns and the god they’d targeted, the powerful frozen axes were blocked by what appeared to be an ordinary piece of wood.
At the same moment, the lightning-clad hammer completed its swing, crashing into Utgard-Loki’s gauntlets and blasting the Jotun backwards with immense force, divine lightning crackling across his enormous body.
Ugh!
Utgard-Loki groaned in pain as the lightning pierced his thick skin and coursed through his flesh, clashing with the magic power and law energy within his body as it tried to make its way to his heart.
In stark contrast, his opponent suffered almost no damage thanks to the person who intervened at the last split second before the two frozen axes dug into his back.
Turning around, his eyes widened in recognition at the sight of the person he saw pushing back the battle axes of the Frost Giant King.
“Heracles!”
Harmarti is totally fictional btw
