Chapter 1991: Part 1: Capturing the City Lord Bryan
Darkwood City
That evening, I left the room and came to the main hall. I saw the members. Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock were chatting.
Earlier, I had put the two monsters inside the Gregor Mansion. Upon seeing me, they greeted me. I didn’t share the details of what the zero puppet had found earlier.
A few minutes later,
We left the hotel and came to the street. It’s not a big city, so I told the team members to split up and collect intel.
The members agreed, and each picked a direction before leaving. We agreed to meet back here in two hours.
On the other hand, I immediately thought of the City Lord. I decided to go there alone. I approached a cab driver and told him to drop me in front of the City Lord’s office.
It’s because the City Lord’s office was a popular place as well. Many pay a visit to the City Lord’s office if anyone new comes to the city.
The cab driver didn’t suspect anything. I was in the back seat, looking at the outside scenery through the window.
Ten minutes later, the cab driver dropped me in front of the City Lord’s office. I exited the cab and paid the fare to the driver.
When the cab had gone away from the place, my attention turned toward the City Lord’s office building. It was a medium-sized, marble-like building.
I didn’t approach the building. Rather, I began to observe the place. I wasn’t the only one here; there were other visitors who were looking at the City Lord’s building.
Because the building looked brand new with its paintings, it drew attention from the crowd. I used the system power to scan the place.
I wanted to know whether anyone with the level of Magic Lord or Forbidden Wizard was present in the place or not. The system results came back negative.
Then I made a decision. I started walking along the footpath. I walked past the building and came across a narrow alley. I took the turn and walked down the alley.
The alley was narrow and empty. There was no one beside me here, but there were buildings on both sides of the alley. I walked behind one of the buildings and appeared inside the Gregor Mansion.
Then I appeared in the hall. I looked toward the zero puppet. I explained the situation to the zero puppet. The City Lord, Bryan, is a Supreme Wizard.
I wanted the zero puppet to collect information. If the City Lord’s office was safe, then I would go to the place.
Swoosh!
Then I brought the zero puppet outside. The zero puppet, in its red smoke form, left the place. I once again verified the place was safe, and then I entered the Gregor Mansion once again.
The red smoke exited the narrow alley and came to the main street. It spotted the City Lord’s building. The red smoke then went toward the building.
In the blink of an eye, the red smoke infiltrated the place. It quickly reached the City Lord’s office. It entered the room through the door gap.
The red smoke saw City Lord Bryan seated behind the desk. He was asleep. He wasn’t doing anything. The red smoke waited there for 14 minutes.
Seeing that there was no response from the City Lord, it left the place and went back to the narrow alley.
Meanwhile,
In the Gregor Mansion, I wore a black magic cloak to cover my body and a mask to cover my face.
A few minutes later,
I appeared outside after seeing the red smoke. The zero puppet recounted everything. Then I took my device out and contacted Otto.
I told him not to wait for me, as I would be late. Then I did the same thing with Hank. I instructed them to go back to the hotel after collecting the intel.
After having done that, I left the place and moved towards the main street. Nighttime was coming. I used the system to shield my presence.
No one could sense my mana now. Then I made a detour and moved away from the crowded place. I used the opportunity when no one was present.
I used the flight ability to move towards the City Lord’s office. In the nighttime, the black cloak provided good concealment.
The red smoke was moving ahead of me. By following the red smoke, I reached the City Lord’s office. There were wizards standing outside.
The red smoke reached behind them and knocked them unconscious. It dragged the bodies toward a nearby room.
After hiding them inside, the red smoke entered the room through the gap. It saw that City Lord Bryan was sitting behind the desk.
After confirming that City Lord Bryan was asleep, the red smoke went to the door and unlocked it. The door opened.
I entered inside, and my gaze immediately fell on the City Lord who was asleep. I checked the room. There were no hidden cameras here.
I touched City Lord Bryan and appeared inside the system space with the zero puppet the next moment.
Inside the blue grid space, City Lord Bryan was jolted awake. Before he could get up, I struck his back and knocked him unconscious.
Then I told the zero puppet to watch over him. Next, I appeared outside. I removed the drawer. There were several notes and ledgers.
I didn’t disturb them. I didn’t want others to know he was gone. Then I exited the room and closed the gate. Before anyone could find out, I decided to leave.
I used the flight ability to leave the premises. No one could see me in this dark, unless they were a Magic Lord or Forbidden Wizard.
In the blink of an eye, I came to the previous alley. Then I removed the cloak before putting it inside the system space. I simply wore the mask and started going back to the hotel.
A few minutes later,
I found a cab. Then, the cab took me toward the hotel.
