Chapter 965: Hunted All the Way

The live stream room, chat section.

The main camera was focused here now.

The people in the live stream room hadn’t expected that, right after watching the bloody encounter between Jiang Ran and Brown, the black man, they would immediately see Chen Sanshui, Zhang Yao, and the Purple-Shirted Man.

What happened next left them all stunned.

The Ultimate Rich Kid asked in confusion: “Wait, did Zhang Yao and that guy really have a lawsuit against Chen Sanshui? Is that where all this hatred comes from?”

The Domineering Female CEO posted a laughing-and-crying emoji: “What are you thinking? It’s obvious Chen Sanshui has handled so many cases and made so many enemies that his memory’s gone haywire. He mistook them for someone else. Zhang Yao and the other guy just went along with it.”

Fairy Sister: “He can even mistake them for someone else? Looks like Chen Sanshui really has handled a lot of crooked cases and had plenty of people come after him for revenge.”

The Domineering Female CEO: “Yeah, I have his records too. Anyway, by most people’s sense of justice, apart from the cases he handled in his first few years, every case he’s taken since then has been like this. As long as he gets paid, turning right and wrong upside down is just business as usual.”

Little Dragon Girl: “That crooked lawyer deserves to get taken down.”

Little Aunt: “Even if he were a good lawyer, he’d still get taken down after coming to Alice Apartment and becoming a lab rat.”

At Alice Apartment.

Chen Sanshui stared at the two men in front of him, his mind racing.

So the two men who broke into his

</path> home in the middle of the night that night had come to get revenge on him.

Then why were there two people here who held a grudge against him?

“Could it be…”

Chen Sanshui had figured it all out. He understood everything.

The reason he’d been threatened into this situation was finally clear.

He’d handled too many crooked cases and made too many enemies.

He had more enemies than he could count.

These lowly poor people probably didn’t dare go after the clients themselves, so they’d all come after him instead.

They figured it was his fault for helping those so-called evil clients win their lawsuits, and had redirected all their fury toward him.

And since a single enemy would have a hard time getting revenge on him,

his enemies had somehow joined forces.

They’d formed an alliance to take him on.

That explained everything.

They’d gathered all this evidence of his crimes and used it to threaten him into coming here.

But what did they intend to do once he got here?

Kill him just to vent their anger?

“No. That can’t be it.”

“If they wanted revenge, they could use all this evidence to ruin my reputation, even if they couldn’t put me behind bars. That would satisfy their desire for revenge, but they haven’t done that. They want a more satisfying, more ruthless kind of revenge.”

“So they threatened me into coming here in order to kill me?”

“No, that still doesn’t make sense. If they simply wanted to kill me to vent their anger, they wouldn’t need to form an alliance or threaten me. They could have arranged an accident to get rid of me. I’m nobody important, after all, and I have bodyguards protecting me.”

“Then why did they bring me to this apartment? What kind of revenge are they planning?”

Zhang Yao and the Purple-Shirted Man never would have imagined that in just a few minutes, the lawyer standing before them could come up with so much.

No wonder he could be a lawyer. He really thought things through.

Zhang Yao played along as if it were real: “Chen Sanshui, now I’m going to avenge my sister!”

The Purple-Shirted Man chimed in, too: “It’s all your fault, you unscrupulous lawyer! I’m going to avenge my family, and all the other people you’ve hurt!”

Chen Sanshui turned and ran.

Zhang Yao and the Purple-Shirted Man dropped the act and chased after him.

It was rare for someone to attack and hack at another person in the public areas outside the apartment buildings in broad daylight at Alice Apartment.

Zhang Yao had learned from his past mistakes, like what had happened with Jin Hai. He’d planned to get revenge, but kept putting it off. Eventually, he asked the building manager where Jin Hai had gone.

He’d wondered why he hadn’t seen him in so long, only to learn that Jin Hai was dead, drowned in the swimming pool.

Manager Wu Wen had said he drowned because he couldn’t swim.

But Zhang Yao didn’t believe him. He just thought someone had stolen the prey he’d set his sights on.

In any case, this time, there was no getting away.

…

Zhang Jing’s boyfriend was a civil servant.

He was sitting at his office computer, clicking the mouse and tapping at the keyboard as he wrote a report.

He’d been writing it for two and a half hours.

His back and waist ached. He rolled his neck, rubbed his back and lower back, then picked up the phone he’d left on silent beside him.

He stood up to stretch, left the office, and headed for the restroom.

On his way there, he ran into several people and politely greeted each of them.

He entered the restroom, opened the door to a stall, took off his pants, and squatted down.

He unlocked his phone and saw that his girlfriend, Zhang Jing, had sent him a whole bunch of messages.

“Hm? What’s she sending me? Why so many messages? Didn’t she say she was away on a business trip? How does she have so much free time?”

Puzzled, he opened WeChat and found that she’d sent him more than ten messages.

He swiped up to the beginning. First, there were several video calls from her, which he hadn’t answered.

After a few calls, she’d stopped trying.

Then came a few videos.

He opened the first one.

He even laughed and said, “Xiaojing, why are you sending me this kind of dirty video? It’d be hilarious if my account got banned for spreading porn.”

He hadn’t even opened the video. Just looking at its thumbnail was enough to tell it wasn’t proper.

With his phone’s media volume turned off, he clicked the video with a smile, curious to see what kind of dirty thing his girlfriend had found for him.

The smile remained on his lips, but as the video played, it slowly faded away.

And as the video continued, his expression changed dramatically.

Shock, confusion, and fury showed on his face. His eyes were bloodshot.

After watching one video, he clicked on several more in a row.

He dragged the progress bar around, checking something. Once he’d confirmed it, he didn’t even bother using the restroom. He pulled up his pants

and rushed out of there.

He went into an empty conference room on the same floor, shut the door, and locked it. Seething with anger and panic, he called his girlfriend.

Alice Apartment, Zhang Jing’s

</path> home.

Looking at the incoming call from Zhang Jing’s boyfriend on her phone, Jia Tao said with a grin, “Your boyfriend’s seen the videos!”

Despairingly, Zhang Jing buried her whole face in the snowy-white pillow.

“Answer it!”

Jia Tao tossed the phone to her.

Zhang Jing stared at the phone and shook her head rapidly.

Jia Tao chuckled. “If you don’t answer, how am I supposed to enjoy myself? If I don’t enjoy myself, you’d better watch out. I’ll make sure you don’t enjoy yourself either.”

Frightened, Zhang Jing answered.

As soon as she picked up, a furious roar came from the other end.

The hoarse roar was utterly unlike her boyfriend’s usual gentle voice.

“Zhang Jing! What are you doing?! Is that you in the video?! And who’s the man in it?!”

Zhang Jing listened, her lips pressed tightly together.

She didn’t know how to answer.

Jia Tao lightly tightened both hands around her neck and gestured with his chin for her to speak.
