Chapter 693: The Grand Finale (Part 3)

He had sensed a familiar aura earlier—the aura of the Void Race.

However, he hadn’t expected the Void Race to be from another universe.

A dying universe.

WHOOSH!

A figure leapt out from within the vast nebula.

Li Wei recognized it at a glance—it was a Void Giant Whale.

A true behemoth, countless times larger than any star.

It could swallow a planet in a single gulp.

The King of Void Giants, Premius.

An imposing figure in black Armor stood atop the King of Void Giants’ head, exuding the powerful aura of a Divine Spirit.

The Void Emperor, Gleyus.

“I am Gleyus, the Void Emperor! Divine Spirit from an Exotic Realm, retreat! This is the territory of the Void Empire, and you may not trespass!”

Gleyus shouted.

He saw that Li Wei was a Divine Spirit from an Exotic Realm, one who had crossed the universe’s barrier to arrive in the Void Universe.

He did not dare to take him lightly.

Any expert capable of crossing the barrier between universes would certainly be no weaker than he was.

He himself had to borrow the Power of the Void Universe’s Ancestral Gods to go on expeditions to other universes.

For someone to cross the universal barrier alone, even if their Power had not yet reached the Ancestral God Realm, they had to be close.

Li Wei took a closer look at the Void Emperor, Gleyus.

Back in the Azure Sky World, he had heard of the Void Emperor’s fearsome reputation.

The most powerful Demon God in the Void.

‘To think he’s actually a Divine Spirit from another universe.’

‘Wait… could it be that the gods are also Divine Spirits from other universes?’

As far as Li Wei knew, the Sky Dome World was located within the Star Realm, and beyond the Star Realm lay the endless Void.

The Star Realm was immense, containing countless life-bearing planets, and each planet possessed its own Little World Laws.

Originally, Li Wei had thought the Void contained the Star Realm.

Now, it seemed that was not the case. The Void and the Star Realm were vast spatial regions on the same plane of existence.

Both belonged to the same universe.

The universe contained both the Void and the Star Realm. The places where stars gathered together formed the Star Realm, while the vast, empty expanses without stars constituted the Void.

This was the natural order of things.

It was completely different from the Void Universe where Gleyus resided.

This universe had already lost its Star Realm, leaving only an empty Void.

Li Wei looked at Gleyus and said, “I have no interest in your Void Empire. I only want to know why this universe ended up in such a state.”

Hearing this, Gleyus fell silent.

The consciousness of the Nebula Ancestral God resonated in Li Wei’s mind.

It began to tell Li Wei of the changes that had occurred in this universe over the hundred billion years since its birth.

The consciousness of the Ancestral Gods had existed since the birth of the universe.

In the beginning, its consciousness was hazy and was regarded by living beings as the Way of Heaven and the World Will.

As the universe evolved, the consciousness of the Ancestral Gods gradually coalesced.

This continued until the universe underwent its final destruction—the Great Extinction.

All matter was annihilated, returning to its point of origin.

The surviving lifeforms banded together. Their powerful, shared will to survive, born from a desperate craving for hope, spurred the consciousness of the Ancestral God to awaken.

It pieced together the last remaining matter in the universe to form a nebula in a final, desperate struggle for survival.

The Void Empire was born against this backdrop.

To survive, all the remaining lifeforms in the Void Universe began expeditions to other universes, plundering matter and life to sustain the last nebula within their own.

The Great Extinction was an unstoppable force of natural evolution.

Even as the Void Empire continuously plundered other universes, it still grew weaker by the day, struggling to sustain itself.

The birth and death of a vast universe unfolded before Li Wei’s eyes.

Finally…

Li Wei saw representatives of the gods appear before the Void Empire.

They invited the Void Emperor to join the kingdom of the gods.

The condition was that he abandon all other life in the Void Universe.

The purpose of the gods’ endless plundering of Power and the Authority of Law from other worlds was to forge a paradise capable of evading the Great Extinction.

The Void Emperor refused the gods’ invitation.

He did not choose to abandon his kin and the other beings of his universe.

Ultimately, because of the Ancestral God, the gods did not make a move against the Void Empire.

Another reason was that the Void Universe was already on the verge of death. It had little remaining matter or Authority of Law, not enough to be worth the great price the gods would have to pay for conquest.

And with that, Li Wei finally understood the gods’ intentions.

He had long known that the gods were trying to avert the so-called “End of the Gods.”

‘I just never thought this would be the truth behind it.’

‘The Great Extinction…’

‘Knowing the truth… it really makes you feel powerless.’

However, the universe where the Sky Dome World resided was still a very long time away from its Great Extinction.

At least tens of billions of years.

Worrying about the Great Extinction now was rather pointless.

If anything, the actions of the gods were, in a sense, accelerating the arrival of the Great Extinction.

They destroyed worlds, plundering their authority, matter, and energy.

They were accumulating the Power to resist the Great Extinction.

They were transferring the Great Extinction that should have befallen them onto other, innocent worlds.

It was utterly selfish.

‘That said, if I were the one facing the threat of death, I probably couldn’t accept it calmly, either. I would do everything in my power to survive.’

‘But if I did that, what would make me any different from the gods?’

‘To refuse one’s own extinction is to bring about the extinction of other races and lives.’

He now knew the reason behind the gods’ actions.

Li Wei understood their methods, but he would not forgive them.

He did not waver in his determination to stop the gods.

In fact, it grew even firmer.

Li Wei could accept the cycle of life and death that came with the natural evolution of the universe.

But he could not accept the artificial disasters brought about by the gods’ interference.

And he could never forgive the gods for wanting to use the Sky Dome World as a stepping stone for their own survival.
