High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent
Chapter 534 - 508: Redemption List
Chapter 534: Chapter 508: Redemption List
A large screen materialized, its contents refreshing rapidly.
[Item: Blood of the Celestial Calamity Flame Dragon (Sold Out)]
[Description: The blood of a Level 10 Calamity Beast, the Celestial Calamity Flame Dragon. It has the effect of causing a physical metamorphosis.]
[Merit Points: 500,000/ton]
Lin Qi gasped when he saw the first item.
’A Level 10 Celestial Calamity Flame Dragon?’
’How have I never heard of it? Could it be the Calamity Beast that Emperor Red and his people hunted in the Otherworld?’
’If I consumed the blood of a Level 10 Calamity Beast, I wonder how much my Qi and Blood Value would increase.’
Five hundred thousand Merit Points just to exchange for a single ton.
He kept scrolling down.
[The Celestial Calamity Flame Dragon’s Dragon Heart]
[Polar Ice Rhinoceros Blood]
[Polar Ice Rhinoceros Flesh and Blood]
...
As he scanned down the list, he saw that the top items were all body parts from Level 10 Calamity Beasts, but every single one was marked as "Sold Out." They had all been redeemed.
He felt a pang of regret. If he could just buy a small amount, his Qi and Blood Value would skyrocket.
He suspected that with several hundred kilograms of that dragon blood, he might be able to undergo multiple Blood Exchanges simultaneously.
He scrolled further, and all sorts of treasures appeared. Even the Tiger Bone Pills and Five Elements Marrow Cleansing Ointment he’d used before were listed, each costing several hundred Merit Points.
To afford them, he would need to kill at least several Level 6 Calamity Beasts.
There was even the Water of Life, which was the most expensive of all, costing a hefty twenty to thirty thousand Merit Points.
Suddenly, Lin Qi’s eyes lit up.
[Item: Blood Spirit Potion]
[Description: A potion crafted with Blood Ganoderma as the primary ingredient. It can drastically increase one’s Qi and Blood Value and help one successfully complete a Blood Exchange.]
[Merit Points: 100,000/vial]
...
Lin Qi’s eyes shone. He knew of Blood Ganoderma—it was the Heavenly Material and Earthly Treasure his teacher, Mu Hong, had used.
The prospect of a single, side-effect-free Blood Exchange was overwhelmingly tempting for a Seventh Realm Martial Artist.
Countless people in the Xia Country were stuck at the Seventh Realm. Their foundations were too weak, their Talent was lacking, and their bodies could no longer achieve another Blood Exchange through normal cultivation, unless they had some external help.
The Blood Ganoderma itself was grayed out, indicating it was sold out.
But this Blood Spirit Potion was different. Its effects might not be as potent as pure Blood Ganoderma, but it was still highly desirable.
And by the looks of it, there was a good supply.
Lin Qi nodded to himself, having already set the Blood Spirit Potion as his new goal.
He suddenly thought of Dean Liu. ’With his connections, he should be able to redeem a Blood Spirit Potion.’
’It probably won’t be long before he breaks through to the Eighth Realm.’
Lin Qi continued to browse, seeing many other Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.
For example, there was Stellar Liquid, which could dramatically improve one’s Comprehension, elevating even an ordinary person to the level of an S-class genius.
There was also the Vajra Fruit, which could significantly boost one’s physical Talent, potentially raising it to the level of an S-class genius.
’These seem perfect for my parents,’ Lin Qi thought.
But the price was exorbitant, requiring several million Merit Points. Far too expensive.
The people who needed them couldn’t afford them, and the people who could afford them didn’t need them.
’I’ll have to wait until I’m in the Eighth Realm and kill a lot more Calamity Beasts before I can afford them.’
DING-DONG!
A moment later, the doorbell rang, and a projection of the area outside his door appeared.
Lin Qi opened the door to find a burly staff member in a black uniform standing there.
With him was an intelligent robot, acting as a trolley, carrying a long train of boxes.
Since the hallway was extremely wide, the metal boxes didn’t get in anyone’s way.
"Mr. Lin Qi, the Level 8 Disaster Beast Flesh and Blood you ordered has arrived," the staff member said with a smile.
Lin Qi nodded and had the staff member bring the boxes of Level 8 Disaster Beast Flesh and Blood inside.
Little Chan also materialized a physical form to help out.
Because the apartment wasn’t that large, the freezer couldn’t hold any more flesh and blood; 2,000 kilograms was already its limit.
After the delivery man left, Lin Qi eagerly had Little Chan start cooking.
"I’m done with Level 7 Calamity Beast meat!"
"From now on, I’ll be eating the flesh and blood of Level 8 Disaster Beasts!" Lin Qi decided.
He had a clear understanding of his own strength.
With his current power, killing Level 7 Calamity Beasts wasn’t difficult.
After a few months of that, he would accumulate a considerable amount of Merit Points.
He could afford to eat the flesh and blood of Level 8 Disaster Beasts for every meal.
A short while later, he had consumed 200 kilograms of the Level 8 Disaster Beast Flesh and Blood.
He then returned to the Martial Arts Room to begin his cultivation.
...
In the central administrative zone of the Black Dragon Base, the very core of the facility.
All the top brass were gathered here.
Inside one of the offices, Mu Hong, dressed in black, and the white-robed Dean Liu sat on a gray sofa.
Opposite them sat a tall, burly man clad in silver battle armor. His presence felt as immense and unmovable as a mountain.
The King of Mountains and Rivers slowly picked up his teacup and said,
"So, Lin Qi is coming to the Black Dragon Base?"
"Mastering Gang Power in three days... his Talent is truly astonishing."
"It took me over ten days to master it back then."
Dean Liu took a sip of tea and chuckled.
"Elder Huo, back in your day, you were all stationed on the battlefield constantly, fighting Calamity Beasts day in and day out."
"You didn’t have much time for proper cultivation."
"If you’d had the same opportunity as Lin Qi, you probably would have mastered it in a few days as well."
The King of Mountains and Rivers changed the subject.
"Let Lin Qi join a team first to get familiar with the battlefield environment."
"After a while, he can start operating on his own."
Mu Hong nodded. "I’ll have my student, Liang Tai, guide him for a period."
The King of Mountains and Rivers stood up.
"I truly look forward to seeing how Lin Qi develops."
"If Lin Qi, Sun Saint, and Li Tianxing all manage to break through to the Ninth Realm..."
"...our Xia Country will have more Ninth Realm Martial Artists. We won’t have to fear the Tenth-Level Calamity Beasts anymore."
"And Jue Ying wouldn’t have had to sacrifice himself!"
At the mention of this, the atmosphere in the room grew heavy.
Dean Liu and Mu Hong both sighed.
Tenth-Level Calamity Beasts were a shadow looming over everyone’s head.
Every time one appeared, there were bound to be sacrifices among the Eighth Realm Martial Artists.
There were too many Ninth-Level Calamity Beasts, and not enough Ninth Realm Martial Artists to handle them all.
The strategy was always to have the top-tier experts eliminate the Ninth-Level Calamity Beasts first, while the slightly weaker ones tied down the Tenth-Level Calamity Beast.
Once the Ninth-Level Calamity Beasts were dealt with, everyone would regroup to take on the Tenth-Level one.
During this process, most Eighth Realm Martial Artists had to step up and hold the line against Ninth-Level Calamity Beasts as well.
On top of that, they had to be wary of sneak attacks from the Insect Race. In the last campaign, several High Realm Martial Artists were killed in ambushes by them.
The King of Mountains and Rivers clenched his fists, his voice cold. "If it weren’t for the Insect Race, Jue Ying might not have died."
"The Insect Race... sooner or later, we will wipe them out, root and stem."
"And that day will not be long in coming!"
...
「That afternoon」
After Lin Qi finished his cultivation, his First Senior Brother, Liang Tai, took him on a tour of the Black Dragon Base.
They went from the residential area to the various Cultivation Rooms, Virtual Rooms, and the Gravity Room.
All of these facilities were available for use, but they all cost money.
Many students who didn’t get into a Martial Arts University came straight to the War Base after enlisting.
They grew stronger by cultivating amidst the chaos of war.
As they walked through the base, Lin Qi was hit by the overpowering stench of blood. The very ground beneath his feet was stained a deep crimson.
On either side, hundred-meter-tall black walls loomed, their surfaces covered in bloodstains and vicious claw marks—scars left by the passage of time and countless battles.
Lin Qi saw figures walking in, all clad in combat suits. They were covered in blood and radiated an intense, murderous aura.
His First Senior Brother, Liang Tai, said from beside him,
"Junior Brother, this is one of our base’s entrances."
"The base has nine of them in total."
Lin Qi nodded.
"Liang Bear, what are you doing here?"
Suddenly, a flippant voice called out from the main gate.
Several figures appeared before them. Leading the group was a rather handsome man.
He wore a silver combat suit and casually brandished a battle saber as he walked in.
He was flanked by several other Martial Artists, men and women, all of whom exuded the powerful aura of the Sixth Realm.
The man tilted his head back, shot a glance at Liang Tai, and sneered.
"Well, well. You just lost a team member, and in the blink of an eye, you’ve already found some new cannon fodder?"
Liang Tai’s face darkened. "Gu Ming, shut your damn mouth!"
"If it weren’t for you, He Chuan would never have died!"
Gu Ming scoffed. "What’s that got to do with us? You were just too weak to protect your own teammate."
Then he turned to Lin Qi.
"Listen, kid. I’d advise you not to join Liang Tai’s team. You won’t even know what hit you when you die."
Lin Qi looked at Liang Tai and asked, "Where did this clown come from?"
"Haha!!"
Liang Tai roared with laughter.
"That’s right! Just a clown!"
His Second Senior Sister, Wang Zixuan, also broke into a smile.
Being ridiculed in front of everyone, Gu Ming’s expression turned ugly.
A brutish, heavyset man beside him jeered,
"Who’s this reckless brat? You’d better watch your back from now on."
"Or you won’t know what hit you."
Gu Ming also shot Lin Qi a cold smile.
"Kid, take a good look around. This is a battlefield. Didn’t your family teach you to keep a low profile?"
Lin Qi shook his head. "Sorry, this *is* me being low-key."
"I just get annoyed when I hear dogs barking, that’s all."
"Let’s go," he then said to Liang Tai.
"Right. Let’s not waste our time on these clowns!"
Liang Tai laughed heartily and led Lin Qi away.
Gu Ming watched Lin Qi’s retreating back, a vicious glint in his eyes.
"Boss, that kid’s asking to die."
"Should we find a chance to..." one of the men beside him asked, making a throat-slitting gesture.
"I think that kid might have some backing. Should we look into him first?" the sole female Martial Artist in the group suggested.
Gu Ming nodded, but the brutish man spoke up.
"He’s slumming it with Liang Tai’s crew. What kind of backing could he possibly have?"
"And no matter what backing he has, could it be better than the boss’s?"
"The boss is from the Gu Family! His own brother is the Fire Dragon Saber, Gu City!"
Hearing this, Gu Ming’s mood brightened, and a smirk played on his lips.
"Find an opportunity to take care of him. Don’t leave any openings for the Celestial Eye System to find."
"You got it!"
The others around him grinned. This wasn’t the first time they’d done something like this; they were quite proficient at it.
Gu Ming watched Lin Qi’s back, his heart already set on murder.
’I’m in a foul mood right now. It’s just his bad luck that he happened to wander into my line of fire.’
...
Meanwhile, as they were walking away.
Lin Qi asked curiously,
"First Senior Brother, do you have some history with that Gu Ming?"
Liang Tai nodded grimly. "We definitely don’t see eye to eye."
"Junior Brother, on the battlefield, you don’t just have to watch out for Calamity Beasts. You also have to watch out for your own kind."
"Even though the battlefield has the Celestial Eye System, it’s mainly used to track Calamity Beasts."
"When a Disaster Beast Tide breaks out, the battlefield is chaos. The Celestial Eye System can’t possibly catch every little thing that happens."
"And some people will use that chaos as an opportunity to move against their own."
Lin Qi had a feeling his First Senior Brother, Liang Tai, was speaking from experience.
