Chapter 3065: Chapter 78: Why Are Young People Nowadays So Bad!
Choosing to draw on the school Protect Legal Formation’s Magic Power to prove his identity was just a flick of the wrist for Zheng Qing, but it was extremely important to the young people in this room and to the Seven Sins.
He was very clear that the young, silent Devils in the conference room hadn’t relaxed their guard just because of a few words from him; the imbalance of power had already shattered the solid structure this organization relied on to exist.
If he wanted these cautious young ones to accept a suddenly appearing high-level wizard as one of their members, there had to be a more convincing endorsement.
The school Protect Legal Formation happened to be one of them.
This Array could unleash near-Legend power on Buji Island, and only high-level wizards affiliated with the school were qualified to touch its strength.
Zheng Qing’s ability to draw its power meant he was a school high-level wizard, not a Demon or some other person who had slipped into the school. This had already helped the "Devils" avoid the risk of falling into the Abyss. As for whether he was a wizard planning to conduct illegal experiments like Professor Montreya, to these ambitious young people, that wasn’t really a big deal.
They weren’t rule?abiding kids to begin with.
What many young people lack isn’t courage, but opportunity.
Having the chance to form a cause?and?effect tie at close range with a high-level wizard is a rare stroke of fortune for many wizards. Not to mention in the Alliance; even among the old residents living on Buji Island, many people go an entire year without seeing more than a few high-level wizards, let alone sitting face?to?face with Them, or even striking up a conversation.
"—Since my identity has been confirmed, if there’s nothing else, we can adjourn."
Zheng Qing waved his hand, glanced at "Belfinger," drooping beside his left hand, and pondered whether he should tell Su Shijun about this later, or what method he should use to lodge a complaint.
Only, against his expectations—
someone actually "had business."
Lucifer, the one wearing the bat Mask, stood up, first bowing respectfully to the Obsidian high seat, then spoke quickly with a hint of nervousness: "—Honored Lord Kannai, everyone, it’s already been more than a week since our last gathering. It just so happens Lord Kannai is taking office today, giving us an opportunity to meet. Why shouldn’t we cherish such a chance?"
This kid’s guts are pretty big!
Zheng Qing gave him a surprised look. If it were Matthew or Friedman, with their cautious temperaments, the moment they heard him say to leave, they’d definitely not say a word, and slip away quietly.
The other Devils, hearing Lucifer’s speech, all nodded in agreement, and not a single one left.
That made Zheng Qing feel a faint sense of interest.
He leaned back, fingers interlaced, elbows resting on the Obsidian armrests, and, fully at his ease, looked at the seven Devils around the Molten Lava Long Table, chuckling softly: "—Since that’s the case, then according to the old rules, everyone can exchange information with each other... If you have special needs, you can submit them to me; I’ll be responsible for connecting with institutions outside the organization. The Seven Sins conference room is like a beer bar; every Devil is a stranger guest. As the bartender, I only wipe glasses, I won’t join in your small talk."
Then he made an inviting gesture.
And said nothing more.
The young Devils looked at each other, both surprised at how familiar this new Sin Bearer was with the operational rules of the Seven Sins, and uneasy about exchanging information right under the eyelids of a Big Wizard—especially when this Big Wizard was very likely also a Professor at the school; that made them even more jittery.
A brief silence fell around the Molten Lava Long Table.
In the end, it was Leviathan, wearing the Cat Mask, who spoke first—only her question was directed at Belfinger—namely, Su Ya.
"—Belfinger, this is the answer key for that ’Five Hundred Basic talisman Exercises Collection’ you wanted last time, the newest edition." Leviathan pushed a thick exercise booklet wrapped in Yellow Paper across the table, nervously flicking a glance toward where Zheng Qing was sitting, then slightly lowering her voice: "What about the signature you promised?"
Zheng Qing distinctly saw Su Ya’s body shrink down, as if she wanted to curl up under the table.
"—This isn’t... I didn’t ask for this." She squeezed her tail tight, and answered dryly.
"But..." Leviathan’s voice sounded a bit taken aback.
"What signature?"
Zheng Qing cut in, smiling amicably—of course he knew that exercise collection wasn’t something Su Ya had asked for, but with this girl here, he was inevitably going to jot down a mark in his ledger.
Leviathan seemed a little pleasantly surprised at the Sin Bearer’s intervention. One of the Sin Bearer’s duties was upholding fairness in internal Seven Sins transactions, and Belfinger’s flat denial had just left her somewhat at a loss.
"It’s a signed note from Su Councilor of the Moon Council, Lord Kannai!"
She explained at breakneck speed: "At the last gathering, Belfinger promised to give me a note signed with Su Councilor’s name—of course, one already desensitized, without any Magic effect."
A faint look of realization appeared on Zheng Qing’s face.
Back when he was in school, Su Shijun’s desensitized autograph was hard currency among the students; many Witches liked to paste her signature on the back of their own photos, as if that could make them prettier.
He turned his head to look at Su Ya.
"Since you’ve reached an agreement, you should complete the transaction."
The Seven Sins Sin Bearer raised a hand and pointed; a slender strip of Parchment obediently slipped out from Belfinger’s robe sleeve and drifted down into Lord Kannai’s hand. He lowered his head and glanced at it—it really was a desensitized autograph of Su Shijun, though it looked like it had been torn off from somewhere.
A faint crimson glow flickered; in another dimension, the torn note was restored—turns out it was Su Shijun’s signature after grading Poseidon’s homework.
Tsk!
He rubbed his forehead, gave the signed strip a light flick, sending it skimming to a stop in front of Leviathan, and said succinctly, "Transaction complete."
Lady Leviathan sat down, thoroughly satisfied. Su Ya, however, stared at the talisman exercise collection in front of her, looking tangled, as if she didn’t know whether she ought to put it away.
With the first transaction as an example, the second brave Devil immediately stood up, and again asked a question of Belfinger: "—Belfinger, you said last time that the new dean of Edge Academy keeps a whole bedroom of concubines..."
"—Not one bedroom, two!"
Beelzebub corrected him: "Belfinger said last time, it wasn’t the one everyone knows about, it was another one! That means he’s secretly keeping yet another one behind the current two! A guy like that can actually serve as dean of the Academy—honestly... sigh!"
"Doesn’t matter how many bedrooms—in short, that information exists, right?" The second brave soul was Asmodeus, wearing a goat Mask. He looked at Belfinger, his tone tinged with anticipation: "Is there a source for this piece of news?"
Under the Mask—
The smile on Zheng Qing’s face slowly faded.
Damn it, what’s wrong with young people these days, how did they end up this bad!
Not the slightest sense of respect for the strong!
"No, I never said that," under the gold?red bird?head Mask, a certain Little Fox’s voice was feeble, sounding like she might choke at any moment: "You must have misheard..."
Crack!
The Devils all turned their heads in unison, looking toward the direction the strange sound came from.
They saw that a chunk had broken off the armrest of Lord Kannai’s Obsidian high seat.
"—Ah, sorry, I didn’t realize this Stone was actually so brittle."
Lord Kannai’s voice drifted out eerily, making everyone involuntarily shiver.
