Chapter 3077 - 90: Initial Embrace
Chapter 3077: Chapter 90: Initial Embrace
Patrick pulled open the drawer.
He took out a small wooden box.
On the blood-red velvet inside the box lay a glass test tube.
Suspended in the test tube was a pea-sized clump of blood. Just one glance at it, and Guan Shanyun felt a fierce craving burst from the depths of his heart, as if he wanted to crush that clump of blood together with the test tube and shove it into his mouth, and even if his mouth got torn into a bloody mess it wouldn’t matter.
"—What is this?"
The guest forced himself to suppress the desire in his eyes.
The master of the lounge didn’t seem surprised by his reaction. He gave a soft chuckle: "This is what you’ve been pursuing—the true blood from the Black family. I will use it to open the door to another World for you... it will grant you unimaginable power."
Without a doubt.
Guan Shanyun stared unblinkingly at that clump of fresh blood.
Powerful and pure.
That was the only feeling he had toward that clump of blood.
"—We can do it now?"
The guest murmured, his tone tinged with incredulity, his face flushed slightly from excitement—he had thought the Black family would make him sign a harsh Magic Contract, or go through some complicated trial, but unexpectedly the other side simply took out the thing he wanted most.
"Of course... as long as you’re in good health, we can start anytime."
Patrick flicked lightly on the outside of the glass tube. As the Ding Dong sound rang, the clump of fresh blood inside exploded into fine little barbs. He nodded in satisfaction.
Good, its activity is holding up nicely.
Although the family had used all sorts of methods to preserve this clump of true blood, its Spiritual Machine was in fact dissipating in extremely tiny amounts every moment. Using it as soon as possible was best. The more intact the Spiritual Machine remained, the stronger and more solid the Blood Covenant attached during the Initial Embrace would be.
"Healthy? Of course! I’m very healthy right now! I’ve never felt my body and mind in such good condition... then, what should I..." The guest swallowed a little saliva, staring fixedly at that clump of fresh blood, his tone growing ever more deferential.
"Oh, just stick out your arm."
Patrick took out a chalk-white little knife from the box. Noticing the Tuki Sect believer’s confused look, he briefly explained: "This is a little knife forged from the fangs of Blood Race Elders... we’ll use it to cut your wrist, then drip this ’true blood’ in—that’s all... of course, the whole process also needs a simple Ritual Magic to assist."
Is this how the Initial Embrace is done?
Guan Shanyun stroked the watch on his wrist, feeling that all those Vampire Initial Embrace plots he’d seen before in the Main God Space suddenly seemed crude and primitive.
He licked his slightly dry lips, his voice a bit hoarse, yet he still had the mood to joke: "—I thought the Initial Embrace meant having someone bite your neck."
Patrick rather liked this attitude of his. A qualified Moonlight Noble ought to retain enough sense of humor even when facing the unknown and fear.
"—Oh, that hurts like hell, and it’s not hygienic."
The Black family’s young master curled his lip, revealing two chalk-white little fangs, shaking his head ever so slightly: "No one’s done it that way for centuries. Aside from some mongrel The Fallen, how could true nobles engage in such barbaric behavior... The reason that rumor is still so widespread must surely be because those filthy wolf brats are spreading it all over the Alliance!"
There was a trace of vexation in his tone.
Guan Shanyun raised an eyebrow slightly, feeling he ought to take back certain thoughts he’d just had—Vampires were still Vampires after all; even if their way of raising descendants had advanced a bit, their relationship with the Werewolves was still that bad.
After a brief pause, Patrick added, "Of course, if you faint at the sight of blood or are hypersensitive to pain—there’s nothing shameful about that, I can understand, and the Initial Embrace does hurt quite a bit—then oral intake is also possible. It’s just that orally ingesting it will cause a certain amount of loss to the Spiritual Machine contained in the true blood."
"I don’t faint at blood, and I’m not afraid of pain!"
Guan Shanyun hurriedly denied those two possibilities—come on, which Reincarnator in the Main God Space hasn’t gone through a baptism of mountains of corpses and seas of blood? Death never pampers their little quirks. If cutting a small wound on his arm could grant the power of a Second-order Powerhouse, the other Reincarnators would fight until their brains got smashed! How could anyone risk losing power just to reduce the pain a little?
The Powerhouses of this World really protect Their descendants far too much!
Seeing Guan Shanyun’s firm attitude,
Patrick shrugged, pulled out the cork sealing the test tube’s mouth, then slid that slender fang-knife inside, letting the tip pick up a tiny smear of crimson.
"Arm."
He gave the order, brief and to the point.
Guan Shanyun immediately rolled his right sleeve up high, exposing a wheat-colored, healthy and powerful arm, placing it in front of the Vampire young master; his fingers like blades, he took the initiative to slice open a deep cut.
Fresh blood gushed out at once.
This time, it was Patrick’s turn to swallow a little saliva without changing his expression. The Tuki Sect believer’s blood, full of power and Exotic Realm flair, gave him the urge to stick in a straw.
Still, in front of this future Half-blood, he maintained the Blake family’s poise quite well.
"Actually you didn’t have to—"
He muttered, then touched the naked wound with the fang-knife tipped with true blood. In just an instant, the originally rapidly flowing blood seemed to freeze in midair, then frantically pulled back in.
More precisely, it was being ravenously devoured by that drop of true blood.
Guan Shanyun had no time to care about this miraculous sight. He clenched his teeth hard—at the instant the fang-knife had touched his wound, he felt as though a hole had been stabbed in his Soul, a violent pain sweeping through his entire body from the inside out. The last time he’d felt like this was in the Wind and Cloud World, when someone had crushed more than half the bones in his body.
Patrick Black’s solemn voice sounded by his ear:
"—Even if you obtain the Initial Embrace and become a member of the Black family, the family will not interfere in any decisions made by the school and cannot help you secure the qualification to transfer... you understand this?"
"I understand." Guan Shanyun ground out the two words through clenched teeth.
"—Becoming a member of the Black family means you must abide by the Black family’s laws, be a Guardian of the Black family’s Glory. The Black family will not interfere with your faith in the Kali Goddess, but the Kali Goddess cannot be allowed to harm the Black family’s interests. Can you do this?"
"I can." Guan Shanyun drew a deep breath.
Patrick nodded in satisfaction. With his left hand he traced complex Magic Spell sigils in midair, while with his right he held the test tube, aiming its mouth at Guan Shanyun’s wound, which had already turned somewhat sauce-red:
"—This clump of fresh blood represents the Black family’s long and mighty lineage. In the name of Black and all things arcane, Under the Moon’s silver light, I grant you scarlet power. Accept it, become it. Through its power, you will be able to keep moving forward."
At first that tiny clump of true blood hid inside the test tube, unwilling to come out. But under Patrick’s Spell, it seemed gradually to take shape, turning into a fingernail-sized Blood-colored Bat that shrieked and dove toward that blood-red wound.
Thud!
The self-proclaimed tough guy, Student Guan, rolled his eyes and fell flat to the floor, his whole body rigid, like one of those old corpses buried in the ground for hundreds of years back home.
"—I did tell you the Initial Embrace hurts quite a bit."
Patrick let out a small breath and carefully placed the fang-knife back into the box.
