Chapter 2375: Chapter 680: Chasing Love Across a Thousand Miles (12)_4

When she shouted, tears fell slowly, yet particularly precious.

Qin Mu felt as if her heart had been forcibly carved open by a knife, with her son and daughter leaving one after the other. How could she finish this meal properly? She turned to Mu Yichen: "What should we do?"

Mu Yichen did not look at her, he simply stood up to clear the dishes.

He couldn’t eat either. Since no one had an appetite, this breakfast was made in vain.

Qin Mu couldn’t quite articulate her feelings; she no longer knew what to feel, and it was a pain that words couldn’t describe.

She was lost, disappointed, but no matter the emotion, it was directed at herself. She was utterly disappointed in herself, seeing her son and daughter so hurt and hopeless over their own matters for the first time.

After work that day, she was distracted in the office.

She had never intended to ignore the children’s feelings. She always believed that the siblings understood her and Mu Yichen’s situations. She believed that whether adults or children, everyone had responsibilities to bear, despite their age.

She preferred to let the siblings roam freely, a consensus she’d reached with Mu Yichen during better times.

But today, she suddenly doubted if she had done the right thing.

She suddenly remembered the day her mother left, recalled looking at her mother’s portrait, and the time she was sent to Paris with no family left.

The hand holding the pen suddenly tightened.

Should her children endure what she had gone through?

He had already chased her to Paris, had already respected her dignity, returning together at this moment was undoubtedly the best time.

Qin Mu looked out of the window and then retracted her gaze, her long lashes drooping. She saw the pen in her hand, but then it blurred again.

In the morning, Mu Yichen took Huanhuan and Chengcheng to the lakeside to play, when Chengcheng accidentally fell into the lake.

"Dad! Dad! Dad! Chengcheng, Chengcheng!"

Mu Yichen was smoking nearby, lost in thought, when he heard Huanhuan’s hysterical voice. He immediately sensed something was wrong, dropped the cigarette, and rushed over.

"Don’t be afraid, Chengcheng, Dad’s here!"

Chengcheng struggled in the lake. It wasn’t too deep, but he couldn’t climb out.

The lake water was cold now, and after swallowing a few mouthfuls, Chengcheng’s eyes couldn’t stay open.

Qin Mu arrived at the hospital immediately after receiving the call. Chengcheng had completed his check-up and was still shivering on the hospital bed.

Mu Yichen sat on the sofa in the ward, hanging his head in guilt, not even looking up when the door sounded.

Qin Mu sat beside the bed, holding back tears as she hugged Chengcheng tightly: "It’s okay now! It’s okay now!"

"Mom, I almost thought I couldn’t see you anymore!"

Chengcheng’s trembling voice spoke to her.

What happened next was that Qin Mu couldn’t help it; her tears fell instantly, and she held him tightly.

Chengcheng was still cold, and as Qin Mu embraced him, she almost started sobbing uncontrollably. She bit her lip hard enough to turn white, then purple.

"Mom, I’m scared. Brother almost died!"

Huanhuan slowly walked to her side, also hugging her, tears unstoppable.

Qin Mu said nothing, only raised her hand to hold her daughter, and so the three of them were together, inseparable.

Mu Yichen finally lifted his head slightly, a sharp gleam in his eyes.

The lake water was cold and deep, and when Chengcheng fainted, he heard a bang not far away. He knew that was his father coming to rescue him, so he wasn’t too frightened.

But seeing Qin Mu arrive, Chengcheng couldn’t help but say those things.

Qin Mu was genuinely terrified, scared to death.

When Mu Yichen called, her heart almost leapt out of her chest.

That evening, the doctor came to check on Chengcheng again. He still had a bit of fever, but it was much less severe. The doctor advised the parents to take good care and keep a closer watch on the children.

Qin Mu and Mu Yichen thanked him. When they turned around, they saw Huanhuan sitting by the bed watching Chengcheng, mumbling, "I told you not to run around. I told you not to go near the edge, but you didn’t listen."

Huanhuan was complaining, yet worried.

"Don’t worry! I’m fine now!"

Chengcheng’s voice was still weak, but the words comforted his sister.

After this incident, the siblings grew even closer.

Huanhuan’s tears almost came out again.

"Sister, I want to go home. Do you?"

Chengcheng asked Huanhuan softly.
