Chapter 105 — Bonus Points at the End of the Semester

Dumbledore smiled when he saw Vesey nod.

He took another toffee from the table beside Vesey and popped it into his mouth.

When he noticed Vesey looking at him, he said with a smile,

"These are gifts from your friends. They almost filled the entire hospital wing.

"Madam Pomfrey had to ask Severus to take most of the sweets back to your dormitory for you, leaving only these here for your friends to enjoy!"

Vesey’s mouth fell open.

Send them to the hospital wing?

What kind of operation was this?

Was she supposed to stay in the hospital wing until she died?

Her surprised expression clearly amused Dumbledore.

He chuckled.

When Vesey saw him smiling, she looked embarrassed.

Dumbledore stopped teasing her. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "Vesey, is there anything else you want to ask me?"

Vesey pretended to think, then said,

"Yes, actually. What happened to the Philosopher’s Stone? I think it was Mr. Nicolas Flamel’s source of immortality, so it should be very valuable. Is it time for you to return it to Mr. Flamel?"

Dumbledore nodded.

"I was just about to talk to you about that! Nico took the Philosopher’s Stone back, and he seems to like you very much. He said he wants you to become his student and asked whether you would leave Hogwarts and study under him. Do you want to agree?"

What?

Vesey was stunned.

Nicolas Flamel wanted her to drop out?

Dream on!

If she left Hogwarts, how could she continue creating the stories in her diary?

And how many Energy Points could she get from Nicolas Flamel?

Without Energy, how could she keep fishing for rewards?

Without Energy, how could she continue pretending to be a genius in everyone’s eyes?

She immediately refused.

"No! I don’t want to!"

Seeing Dumbledore’s surprised expression, she thought for a moment and continued,

"Headmaster, please tell Mr. Flamel that I’m grateful for his kindness, but I don’t want to leave Hogwarts. I don’t want to leave my brother, and I don’t want to leave Professor McGonagall, Ron, Hermione, Snape..."

She continued naming people, eventually even including Dumbledore.

The smile on Dumbledore’s face grew wider.

Finally, he nodded.

"All right. I’ll pass your message on to Nico."

Vesey was just about to say that there was nothing else when Dumbledore suddenly became serious.

"Oh my, child, it’s almost eight o’clock, and the feast is about to begin..."

Vesey immediately looked anxious.

"Then go quickly! Don’t let me delay you!"

She cut off the rest of Dumbledore’s sentence.

He stared at Vesey for a moment before sighing.

"Good child, what I meant was that if you want to attend the feast, you can change your clothes now."

Vesey didn’t really want to go.

But seeing the look in Dumbledore’s eyes, as though he was certain that she wanted to attend, she immediately smiled happily.

"Really? Then I’ll go right now!"

She jumped up excitedly.

Dumbledore laughed.

He stroked his beard and picked up another Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean.

A moment later, he spat it out.

"Earwax flavour!"

Then he left.

Vesey slowly began changing her clothes.

Strange.

When she had been talking to Dumbledore, she hadn’t felt hungry at all.

But the moment he left, she suddenly felt as though she could eat an entire meal by herself.

Dumbledore must have been suppressing her appetite somehow!

After changing, Vesey hurried to the feast.

She was a little late, and everyone had already arrived.

When they saw her enter, many students stood up, craning their necks to get a better look at her.

Vesey pretended not to notice.

She waved at Harry and the others, who were already about to rush over, their eyes as red as rabbits’.

"Let’s talk tomorrow!" she said loudly.

Then she sat down beside Cassandra.

Almost as soon as she sat down, Dumbledore stood up.

He smiled and said,

"Another year has come to an end. Before everyone enjoys the delicious food, please listen to a few clichés from an old man..."

After speaking for quite some time, Dumbledore finally announced the house points.

The entire Great Hall fell completely silent, and everyone’s eyes turned toward Dumbledore.

"As far as I know, the scores of the four houses are as follows. In fourth place, Gryffindor, with three hundred and twenty-four points... In first place, Slytherin, with four hundred and seventy-four points."

Vesey was a little surprised.

Unexpectedly, after a whole year of Snape’s efforts, Gryffindor still had more than three hundred points.

The Gryffindors looked utterly dejected.

Slytherin, on the other hand, was practically cheering.

Vesey looked sympathetically at the Slytherins.

Children.

Victory belongs to the protagonist.

Don’t celebrate too early.

Sure enough, Dumbledore smiled and continued,

"Yes, those are very good performances. But surely what happened recently should also be taken into account!"

Everyone fell silent.

Their eyes turned toward Vesey, Harry, and the others.

Vesey immediately pretended to blush.

She lowered her head, occasionally raising it timidly.

This obviously earned her a few more Energy Points.

"Let me see... The first student is Vesey Potter. She successfully escaped the Devil’s Snare and won the most exciting game of chess since the founding of Hogwarts. Slytherin receives fifty points!"

The Slytherins cheered.

Vesey held her blushing cheeks and looked incredibly cute.

The sight nearly made several people choke.

"She’s my sister!"

"Vesey is my sister!"

Harry loudly told everyone around him.

His silly little sister was the best!

Once the cheering had quieted down, Dumbledore continued.

"Next, Hermione. She faced the flames and demonstrated serious and calm reasoning. Fifty points!"

Hermione blushed as well.

But Dumbledore wasn’t finished.

He looked at Ron.

"The third student is Ronald Weasley. Faced with his friend’s serious injury, when everyone else was overwhelmed by grief, he made a difficult decision. At that moment, he forced himself to set aside his sorrow and won the final game. Fifty points!"

Ron buried his face in his arms.

Vesey suspected he was crying.

She sighed helplessly.

She had originally thought that she had prevented Ron from receiving those extra points this time.

Who would have thought Dumbledore would find another reason to reward him?

After the noise died down, Dumbledore continued.

"The fourth student I want to commend is Harry. He successfully protected the Philosopher’s Stone. Seventy points!"

The Gryffindors were a little disappointed.

They now had 494 points, while Slytherin had 524 points after Vesey’s fifty points.

They could only settle for second place.

Still, they were happy enough.

Even if they couldn’t win...

But Dumbledore spoke again.

"There are many kinds of courage. There is the courage to face the chess pieces without fear of death, and there is the courage to protect the Philosopher’s Stone when facing an enemy.

"But there is also another kind of courage: the courage to stand in front of your friends and oppose them for the sake of protecting your house’s points."

Harry and the others already knew who he was talking about.

Neville covered his face.

He was terribly embarrassed.

"Neville Longbottom. Although he failed, he still tried his best. So, Gryffindor receives forty points!"
