Chapter 111: Chapter 111 — Tonks?

Chapter 111 — Tonks?

Vesey woke up three days later and was about to stretch.

She had to admit it—although Snape’s potions always made people fall asleep, they also made them wake up feeling incredibly refreshed.

She felt extremely comfortable today.

She really wanted to stretch properly, but before she could move or even open her eyes, she heard a voice beside her.

"This child has suffered so much. I really can’t understand why Fudge didn’t interrogate those people first and instead chose to interrogate this child. Did he think she was going to blow up the Ministry of Magic?"

It was the voice of a witch.

Vesey froze.

Interrogation?

Seriously? The victim had to be interrogated too?

But then again, it didn’t really matter. The more people there were around her, the more Energy Points she could gain.

For a real girl, encountering something like this would undoubtedly be terrifying and humiliating.

But Vesey was different. She wasn’t actually a girl, and she didn’t have those same feelings of physical humiliation.

All she cared about was earning Energy Points.

So she wasn’t afraid of going to court.

Of course, that was probably because nothing had actually happened to her. It was easy to talk when she wasn’t the one suffering.

If Voldemort had really done something like that to her, she might have gone completely mad and killed the bastard.

Thinking about it that way, she suddenly felt that the punishments for certain perverts might actually be far too light.

Vesey clenched her fists.

If not for the wizard talking beside her distracting her, she might have already started imagining various ways to chemically castrate certain people.

"Tonks, I thought I told you. Don’t worry so much when you’re on a mission. Just listen to the Minister!"

Vesey was stunned.

Tonks?

Was this the Tonks she was thinking of?

The witch who could change her hair and face at will?

If only they could become friends...

She immediately put an end to her reverie.

That had nothing to do with her for the time being.

She blinked her eyes and pretended to wake up.

The two people who had been talking immediately stopped and stared at her.

Vesey opened her eyes as though she were completely unaware of what was happening.

She stared blankly at the ceiling for a while.

Then, as if she had finally remembered what had happened, she suddenly hugged herself in fear.

"Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. You’ve been rescued!"

Tonks immediately hugged her and comforted her loudly.

Vesey was almost overwhelmed by her enthusiasm.

She felt weak and exhausted inside.

Sure enough, an older sister had quite a few advantages over a younger one.

She almost laughed.

Moreover, she was in a terrible mood right now, so she naturally clung tightly to Tonks as though she were grasping at a life-saving straw.

"It’s all right. Don’t be afraid. It’s all over now!"

Tonks said firmly.

After something like this happened, she knew it was already a good thing that the child hadn’t completely broken down.

She had heard that the child had even comforted her professor before Tonks arrived.

She was truly a good child.

After hugging Tonks for a while, Vesey seemed to have recovered and withdrew from her arms.

"How are you?"

Tonks wiped the corners of her eyes.

There were still tears in them.

Vesey forced a smile and shook her head.

"I’m fine. I’m all right now. It’s nothing. It’s nothing..."

She tried to reassure herself, though her voice trembled slightly.

Vesey wasn’t crying.

Tonks, however, was already crying.

The wizard beside them had red eyes as well. He turned his back to Vesey and quietly wiped his eyes.

Then he stood up, seemingly wanting to leave.

He had tried to be as gentle as possible, but Vesey acted like a frightened bird. She hugged herself in fear.

After confirming that he wasn’t coming toward her, she quickly said, "I’m sorry. I was too..."

She couldn’t think of what to say and simply froze.

When she finally thought of what to say, she realized that both people in the ward were sobbing.

After waiting for their emotions to settle, Vesey learned the important news.

Now that she was awake, she had to attend the court hearing tomorrow.

Tonks and the others tried their best to choose words that wouldn’t upset her, but Vesey understood what they were saying.

Obviously, Dumbledore didn’t suspect her too much this time, because he could guess that Voldemort was behind everything.

But Dumbledore wasn’t the only person in the wizarding world.

There was also Fudge.

That man had clearly been dissatisfied with Dumbledore for a long time.

Vesey didn’t know who had written the report this time. It seemed to claim that Dumbledore had created some kind of secret weapon, and that the secret weapon had been developed by Dumbledore and Vesey together.

This was obviously Voldemort’s doing.

He was simply trying to drive a wedge between Fudge and Dumbledore.

The accusation itself was rather childish.

If Dumbledore really wanted to create a secret weapon, why would he need a little girl like her?

But Fudge believed it.

Maybe he didn’t truly believe it. Perhaps he simply wanted to suppress Dumbledore’s authority, so he chose to believe it without even thinking too deeply.

And now, Vesey had become a pawn in the struggle between the two of them.

With Dumbledore’s backing, she would definitely be fine.

But she was still extremely unhappy.

Think about it. If this had happened to a real girl, and she then had to be interrogated by Fudge in front of so many people, it would be strange if she didn’t completely break down.

Vesey was disgusted.

Fine, Fudge.

Just wait.

At this trial, she would definitely make that old man step down!

It didn’t matter who became the next Minister.

But old man Fudge could leave!

Of course, Vesey wanted to cut Fudge into pieces.

But the expression on her face was not the slightest bit vicious. Instead, she wore a gentle, reassuring smile.

"I have no problem. I can cooperate. I haven’t done anything wrong... I’m not afraid of their questions!"

she said firmly.

Because Vesey agreed to cooperate, Tonks took her to the Ministry of Magic early the next morning.

Almost as soon as they entered, Vesey saw a wizard hurrying toward them.

He looked at Vesey with pity in his eyes and reached out a hand, seemingly wanting to pat her on the shoulder.

But Vesey’s eyes widened almost instantly.

She screamed and ran away from him, rushing straight into Tonks’ arms, her body shaking violently.

[...]

This was the entrance to the Ministry of Magic, where countless witches and wizards were coming and going.

Seeing Vesey’s appearance, almost everyone gave her Energy Points.

"I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I don’t know why... I’m scared..."

Vesey said tremulously.

She looked at the wizard with reddened eyes and whispered.

The wizard quickly shook his head. He even took several steps away from her.

After seeing that she seemed able to accept his presence, he said gently:

"Don’t be afraid. I’m not a bad person. I’m Ron’s father. You should have heard Ron talk about me."

It turned out to be Mr. Weasley.

Vesey immediately nodded.

"I’m sorry. I didn’t know it was you. I wanted to... but I still... I’m sorry..."
