Chapter 117 — Arrival at the Nicolas Flamel Estate
The person who rushed in was a witch with a sallow complexion, a thin figure, and a ferocious expression.
She looked almost deranged, firing spells indiscriminately at everyone she saw.
Dumbledore stepped in front of everyone, his expression serious.
"If you still have a conscience, you’ll know that it isn’t Vesey who—"
Before he could finish, the witch fired a spell at him.
Dumbledore wasn’t afraid.
His magical power was extremely strong. Even if an ordinary wizard stood right beside him and cast a spell at him, it wouldn’t accomplish much.
What’s more, he was already prepared.
The moment he stepped in front of the woman, he had cast the Protego charm.
He had been waiting for her to attack him.
As soon as she did, he could have her sent to Azkaban.
But he had made one mistake.
He had considered everyone’s reaction.
He hadn’t considered Vesey’s.
While everyone was watching the scene unfold, Vesey suddenly threw herself in front of Dumbledore.
Her body flashed with white light.
Then she disappeared.
"Vesey!"
Snape desperately reached out to grab her.
When his hand closed, all he managed to catch was a few strands of red hair.
At the same time—
Vesey, who had used Energy Points to teleport to the Nicolas Flamel estate, cursed inwardly.
That bastard Snape.
When someone is being kidnapped, do you have to grab their hair?
He hadn’t caught much, but it still hurt!
Fortunately, Snape hadn’t grabbed too much.
If he’d pulled out any more, Vesey might have gone bald.
Just imagining herself bald nearly made Vesey lose her mind.
Fortunately, she had made it here safely.
Vesey let out a sigh of relief.
She checked with her Energy Points and sensed that there were people nearby.
More than one, in fact.
So it was best not to move yet.
After pretending to remain unconscious for a while inside the Flamel estate, Vesey slowly opened her eyes.
She looked around blankly, as though she had just woken from a daze.
"Is anyone here?"
"I don’t know how I got here..."
"I need to get back quickly. The Headmaster and professors must be worried about me."
"And that witch... I should apologize to her."
She muttered softly.
Then she realized that there really was no one around.
After hesitating for a moment, she cautiously made her way farther into the estate.
"This looks like someone else’s home. I really hope the owner won’t be angry. I’ll leave as soon as I find someone!"
"But... it’s impossible not to get angry, right?"
"If someone broke into my home, I’d definitely be angry too. I’d probably have a lot to say to them."
"Oh, it’s probably because I was too terrible before. I indirectly caused the deaths of several vampire wizards, yet I didn’t feel frightened or guilty at all.
"I’m really not a good person..."
She muttered to herself, her eyes filled with self-reproach.
Nicolas and Perenelle exchanged a glance.
A smile appeared on Nicolas’s lips.
"Really? She seems to have quite a good character, doesn’t she?"
Perenelle snorted.
"She certainly seems like a good child. But how did you know she would come here? Did you arrange for this child to come here? You didn’t do something behind my back, did you?"
She stared suspiciously at Nicolas.
She couldn’t help wondering whether there might have been another red-haired, green-eyed woman in the Flamel family.
After all, there was no daughter of his living outside, was there?
Could this old man have deliberately brought the girl here?
Perenelle was highly suspicious.
After all, she had repeatedly told this stubborn old man not to throw his life away, but he had refused to listen.
The two of them had practically been in a cold war over it.
Then, all of a sudden, this stubborn old man had told her that he didn’t want to die anymore.
He wanted to teach a child.
A girl.
Nicolas had praised the girl’s talent as unparalleled.
Naturally, Perenelle had been furious.
After being married to him for so many years, she knew exactly how stubborn he could be.
Yet he had actually changed his mind because of a little girl?
Still, Perenelle had no ill intentions toward the little red-haired girl.
She simply couldn’t understand how Nicolas had known she would come.
After all, the old couple had no other children living outside.
Could this old man have taken advantage of her and secretly brought someone home?
The more Perenelle thought about it, the angrier she became.
She floated around Nicolas like a ghost, deliberately making him shiver from the cold.
"Oh, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing. Hmph!"
Perenelle angrily floated in front of Vesey.
She had originally intended to ask who Vesey was and how she had gotten there.
But then she heard Vesey’s cautious voice.
"Hello. You must be the owner of this place, right?
"I’m sorry. I don’t know how I got here. I was under a spell at the time, and then I suddenly appeared here.
"Could you please show me the way out?
"I’ll leave immediately. Really, I’m not a bad person.
"I’m Vesey Potter, a student at Hogwarts. I was attacked in the Ministry of Magic today, and somehow I ended up here.
"I really don’t mean any harm.
"If you don’t believe me, you can take my wand first. You can give it back to me after I’ve left!"
She honestly took out her wand and placed it on the floor.
Then she deliberately stepped a little away from it, as though she were worried that Perenelle might misunderstand her intentions.
Perenelle had met all kinds of people.
Over the years, countless people had tried to make her husband reveal the secret of the Philosopher’s Stone.
They had used threats, bribes, pleading, and all kinds of tricks.
But she had never encountered a child this sincere.
Vesey even patted down her clothes, as though deliberately proving that she had no other wand or weapon hidden on her.
What an honest and helpless child.
Perenelle’s heart softened.
Her tone became gentler.
"There’s no need for that. Pick up your wand.
"I’ll take you to my husband. You see, I’m only a ghost. He can send you back."
Vesey immediately looked delighted.
She gratefully picked up the wand from the floor.
But as though worried that Perenelle might misunderstand, she tucked it into her robes rather than holding it openly in her hand.
Perenelle chatted with Vesey as they walked.
She cautiously asked about Vesey’s identity, originally thinking the girl might not be willing to tell her.
But Vesey not only told her about her background, she also told her about her life in the orphanage.
She even told Perenelle about being captured by the vampire wizards.
She left practically nothing out.
Perenelle was somewhat helpless.
After meeting the child only once, she was already worried about her.
Was this child really not going to be bullied?
Wasn’t she far too trusting?
And this child was actually the daughter of the Potters.
Perenelle hadn’t paid much attention to the outside world over the years. She only knew that the Potters had a son.
She hadn’t expected them to have a daughter as well.
She looked at Vesey sympathetically.
This child must have had a miserable life, hadn’t she?
She had grown up without a family to care for her, spending her childhood in an orphanage and suffering there.
Then, after finally entering Hogwarts at the age of eleven, she had somehow become the target of those vampire wizards.
Perenelle gently placed a hand on Vesey’s head.
"It’s all right. I’ll take care of you from now on."
She had heard from her husband that he would become Vesey’s teacher in the future.
So she already regarded Vesey as one of their younger family members.
She comforted Vesey while glaring at her husband.
"What are you doing? Why aren’t you coming out?
"Hurry up and take care of your student!"
