Chapter Thirteen: How Much Compensation Will This Require?

Vesey was safely protected in Snape’s arms, so she wasn’t hurt at all. Ollivander, however, crawled out of the ruins of his wand shop in a sorry state.

"I knew it. Sigh!"

Ollivander waved his wand with a grim expression and began repairing the wand shop with all his might.

Judging from his expression, however, it was clearly going to be a massive undertaking.

Vesey’s hand, which was holding the wand, trembled slightly.

She even had the urge to run away.

How much is this going to cost?

Let alone Snape’s money—Snape had given that money to her, so technically, wasn’t it her money?

She looked at the size of Ollivander’s Wand Shop.

Was she about to bankrupt herself?

Should she just escape with Snape right now?

But after thinking about it, Vesey abandoned the idea.

After all, in the diary, she had created a persona for herself that was pure and kind. If she ran away now, the authenticity of the diary would become questionable.

I can lose money...

But there’s no way I’m actually going to lose money.

Even if she had money, she didn’t want to throw it away.

She looked at Ollivander and Snape, trying to think of a way out of this situation. After watching them for a while, however, she suddenly realized something.

It seems I really don’t have to pay.

After all, this was a magical world. Almost everything could be repaired with magic.

Unless the damage had been caused by some kind of dark magic and was therefore irreversible, Vesey was certain that what she had just used was definitely not dark magic.

In other words, she had simply been worrying too much.

She didn’t have to pay anything!

That made her much happier.

Vesey even considered helping them.

After all, this mess really had been caused by her. If she didn’t do anything and Dumbledore found out about it later, he would definitely suspect that there was something wrong with her.

She had to put on a good show!

With that thought, Vesey immediately put on a worried expression and trotted over to Ollivander’s side.

"I’m sorry, Mr. Ollivander. I accidentally blew up your shop. I didn’t mean to, but I’m willing to take responsibility!"

Then she turned to Snape.

"Professor, could you lend me some Galleons so I can compensate Mr. Ollivander first? I’ll earn the money and pay you back in the future..."

Snape stared at her in a daze.

So was Lily.

She had always admitted when she was in the wrong.

This child not only looked like Lily, but even had some of her qualities.

"Professor?"

Snape had been dazed for a little too long, so Vesey called him again.

Snape came back to his senses.

He nodded solemnly.

"You don’t need to pay me back. This is what I should do."

Then he looked at Ollivander and said domineeringly:

"I’ll cover all the compensation. Don’t make things difficult for the child!"

Ollivander was stunned by the performance of both of them.

First Vesey, then Snape, and then back to Vesey.

Finally, he said irritably:

"Snape, Miss Potter grew up in the Muggle world. She doesn’t know about magical compensation or mitigating circumstances. But you’re a professor. Don’t you know better?

"If you really want to help me, then come over here and use your wand to cast Repairing Charms. I’m almost overwhelmed trying to do this by myself!"

Snape’s face reddened.

Without saying another word, he stepped forward and began casting Repairing Charms on the wand shop.

After calming his embarrassment for a while, he looked at Vesey.

"You don’t need to pay anything. We just need to repair the shop."

Vesey also pretended to smile sheepishly.

In reality, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Sure enough, she didn’t have to pay!

"Is there anything I can do?"

she asked eagerly.

As long as I don’t have to lose money, I’ll do anything.

Snape looked at her small frame.

Although Vesey now had an incredibly cute and beautiful face, she was still thin and small because she had never been properly fed at the orphanage.

Every time Snape stood beside her, he worried that he might accidentally step on her.

How could he possibly ask Vesey to help with anything?

Snape thought she should simply sit obediently to one side and wait for them to finish repairing the shop.

But when he saw the anticipation in her eyes, he thought for a moment before saying:

"You can go to the ice cream shop next door and buy some more ice cream. Perhaps Mr. Ollivander would like some."

Vesey nodded vigorously.

The weather was so hot, and after eating that ice cream earlier, she still wanted more.

She had just been too embarrassed to ask.

Now she happily ran from the ruins toward the ice cream shop.

Snape stood there watching her leave.

He watched until she entered the shop before quietly letting out a sigh of relief.

The child was too young, and he was always worried that someone might take her away.

"Cough!"

"Ahem!"

"Cough, cough, cough!"

Ollivander suddenly coughed violently beside him.

Snape turned his head and looked at him in disgust.

"Mr. Ollivander, if you’re sick, go to St. Mungo’s. Don’t stand here coughing and infecting everyone else."

Ollivander stared at him speechlessly.

"Haha, Snape. If you still consider yourself a human being, then help me repair the shop with your wand instead of standing there staring blankly at the little girl’s back!"

Snape wasn’t embarrassed by the remark at all.

He merely snorted, turned around, and continued repairing the wand shop alongside Ollivander.

By then, Vesey had returned with three boxes of ice cream.

She happily distributed them between Snape and Ollivander.

Snape put the ice cream Vesey had given him into his pocket, intending to have someone deliver it to her room when they returned that evening.

He had no intention of eating it.

He even felt that he shouldn’t be taking the little girl’s snack from her.

With that thought in mind, Snape looked at Ollivander with disgust when he saw him immediately open his ice cream.

"How old are you? Isn’t it embarrassing?"

he said calmly from behind him.

Ollivander nearly choked to death on a mouthful of ice cream.

Wasn’t it Snape who told Miss Potter to buy it?

What is wrong with this man?

He was completely speechless.

He glared at Snape and put the ice cream away.

At worst, he would eat it after the wand shop had been repaired.

"Hurry up, Snea—"

Before Ollivander could finish speaking, he saw Snape gently touch the ponytail on top of Vesey’s head.

He didn’t look like he was talking to a student at all.

He looked more like a father talking to his daughter.

Ollivander pursed his lips.

If he hadn’t been absolutely certain that Snape didn’t have a child, he might have thought that this little girl was the daughter of Snape and Evans.

That’s it.

Is Snape already eager to become a father to the Potter family’s daughter?
