Chapter 135 — Vesey Is a Die-Hard Fan
Not long after Harry was taken away by Lockhart, Vesey and the others quickly followed.
After all, none of them wanted to deal with Colin, who was obsessed with getting autographs and photographs.
Beating the guy up wasn’t enough, either. He genuinely seemed to think there was nothing wrong with taking pictures while Vesey was undressed.
He probably thought it was no different from men taking off their clothes during a fight.
But being caught by him and having him try to take pictures was really not a pleasant experience.
When they arrived at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, they saw Harry coming in.
His face was so red that it was almost ripe.
"What’s wrong, brother?"
Vesey asked worriedly.
Harry sighed deeply.
"Never be alone with Lockhart again!"
He felt that Lockhart was simply a dog who couldn’t understand human speech!
Ron laughed.
"Don’t be shy, right? You should be glad Colin didn’t get together with Ginny. The two of them would definitely form a Harry Potter Association..."
Harry quickly covered his mouth.
"Stop talking! If Lockhart hears you, I’ll kill you!"
Lockhart would definitely think he was another person trying to steal the limelight.
And speaking of the devil...
The very next second after they mentioned Lockhart, he walked in from outside.
He was wearing a lilac-colored robe, his hair was meticulously combed, and he wore a sky-blue hat.
After entering the classroom, he took off his hat, revealing his golden hair.
This made many girls in the classroom scream like lovesick fools.
Harry and Ron quickly looked back at Vesey, hoping that Vesey wouldn’t be dazzled by Lockhart’s face.
Vesey thought they could rest easy.
There was absolutely no possibility of her falling in love with a man.
In fact, the better a man’s qualities were, the more annoyed she became.
Trying to steal her girls, right?
Let’s duel!
She didn’t go over and beat Lockhart up simply because she was broad-minded.
Lockhart had no idea what Vesey was thinking. He cleared his throat, then took out a magazine and displayed his photograph on it.
He blinked and said:
"Gilderoy Lockhart, recipient of the Order of Merlin, Third Class, honorary member of the Alliance Against Dark Arts, and five-time winner of Witch Weekly’s Most Charming Smile Award.
But I don’t talk about that, because I don’t drive away those monsters with a smile~!"
He was waiting for everyone to laugh, but unfortunately, no one did.
Even if the girls at school were lovestruck, they weren’t that lovestruck.
Lockhart had gone on and on about his own honors, and apparently expected everyone to be impressed.
This was simply too embarrassing.
Vesey almost wanted to dig him out a three-bedroom apartment just to get him off the stage.
The other girls could only offer polite smiles.
This made Lockhart’s opening somewhat awkward.
But Lockhart had extremely thick skin.
After a moment, he recovered.
He smiled and said:
"I see that you have all bought all my books. I really hope you have read them before coming to class. Let’s take a short test first... Don’t be afraid. I just want to see how much you understand."
He handed out the papers under the wary and nervous eyes of all the students.
Harry and Ron were also rather nervous at first.
After all, no matter how annoying Lockhart was, the books he wrote were still useful for reference, and the questions he asked would surely be quite representative.
Even Hermione became serious.
She really wanted to see how difficult Lockhart’s questions were.
Hermione looked at the paper with great determination.
Then she was completely confused.
She suddenly felt like she wanted to throw the paper away.
What were all these questions?
"What is Gilderoy Lockhart’s secret ambition?"
"What is Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite color?"
"Gilderoy Lockhart..."
He might as well have said he was testing his fans’ loyalty!
Hermione didn’t write anything, deliberately expressing her dissatisfaction.
She believed professors were supposed to teach students, not make them answer these ridiculous questions.
Vesey, however, actually answered every single one.
After all, when she had used her Energy to study these books, she had already memorized their contents.
After a while, Lockhart collected the papers.
He went through them in front of the entire class.
He didn’t say anything to those who hadn’t written a single word, probably because he felt too embarrassed to comment on them.
Instead, he only talked about the person who had answered everything.
When he saw Vesey’s paper, his eyes widened in amazement.
"Look at this! Miss Potter actually knows that my secret ambition is to rid the world of all evil and sell my own line of shampoo!
"Oh my goodness, she even knows that my favorite color is lilac!
"She also..."
He praised Vesey for a long time, practically reading out and marveling over the entire paper.
Harry’s eyes almost popped out of his head.
He and Ron stared at Vesey in disbelief.
"How do you know everything?"
Vesey also put on a blank expression.
"When I memorize something, I have to memorize all of it! I think Hermione must know it too. Hermione, why didn’t you write it down?"
Hermione stared at her with her mouth open.
"Don’t you think the questions he asked were very irrelevant?"
Vesey shook her head, pretending to be confused.
"Isn’t this just an ordinary question? The teacher asked it, so can’t I just answer it?"
That was true.
Hermione suddenly realized that Vesey really hadn’t understood the hidden meaning behind the questions.
She didn’t care about Lockhart’s fame, nor did she admire or like him.
She simply respected her teacher.
If the professor asked her to write something, then she would write it.
Hermione sighed deeply.
Her Vesey really was too innocent.
But it didn’t matter.
As long as Vesey was happy, that was enough.
Thinking this, she heard Lockhart loudly announce from the podium:
"I knew it! Miss Vesey Potter must be a die-hard fan of mine. She likes me, and this paper is proof of that.
"And I always reward my fans for their loyalty. Ten points to Slytherin! Miss Potter will also receive an autographed copy of my new book, Magical Me!"
Hermione’s fists clenched.
She really wanted to blow Lockhart’s head off!
And Vesey couldn’t continue being this naive.
She absolutely had to educate Vesey properly.
This Lockhart was a shameless old bastard. He might trick a cute, innocent, and beautiful little fairy like Vesey!
Completely unaware that Miss Granger—the girl who was supposed to be his die-hard fan—was currently cursing him in her heart, Lockhart took a cage covered with a black cloth out from beneath the table.
"Now, be careful. My mission is to teach you how to resist the most terrifying and dangerous magical creatures in the world...
"But you don’t need to be afraid. You can hide behind me at any time. As long as I’m here, you are the safest!"
Vesey’s jaw nearly dropped.
Brother, who gave you that much confidence?
In other words, what kind of experience had made you into the person you were now, completely incapable of understanding your own limitations?
And what was Dumbledore thinking?
Why had he allowed Gilderoy Lockhart to come and teach at Hogwarts?
Could it be that, as many fan fictions say, Dumbledore had known what Lockhart had done all along and deliberately put Lockhart in this position this year just to mess with him?
It really made no sense otherwise!
